Miles was born in London, England, to Miles Axe Copeland, Jr., a CIA officer from Birmingham, Alabama,  and  Lorraine Copeland who was in British intelligence. Due to Miles Jr.'s profession, the family moved throughout the Middle East, in particular Syria, Egypt and Lebanon. As a result, Miles and his brothers became fluent in Arabic.

One of the music industry's most influential figures, Miles Copeland's career in management stretches back 44 years to 1969 in London where he represented progressive rock bands such as Wishbone Ash, Al Stewart, Climax Blues Band, Renaissance, Curved Air, and Caravan until he jumped ship, landed in the turbulent ocean of punk, and worked with the Sex Pistols, the Clash, Blondie, and many many more.

In 1978, he became manager of his Brother Stewart's band, The Police and shepherded them to become one of the biggest bands of the 1980s. The success of The Police and the novel methods used to break them enabled Miles to found I.R.S. Records. In the next few years, the company had hits with The Buzzcocks, The English Beat, The Cramps, Fine Young Cannibals, Wall of Voodoo, Timbuk 3, R.E.M. and a number one album with the all-girl group, The Go-Gos. He continued to manage Sting (solo) through seven blockbuster albums and introduced Sting to Algerian singer, Cheb Mami. Their collaboration bloomed with "Desert Rose" whose worldwide success was attributed to Miles' innovative corporate deal with Jaguar. In all, Miles can rightfully claim to have been involved in the sale of over 150 million albums. Miles currently owns and operates CIA - Copeland International Arts.

Dr. Terry L. Maple is best known for his visionary leadership in revitalizing the Atlanta Zoo in the aftermath of one of the most publicized scandals in the history of American zoos. He was appointed director in 1984 and in 1985 founded and became CEO of Zoo Atlanta, a nonprofit corporation formed to operate the zoo. Zoo Atlanta’s privatization started a trend in the zoo industry. Former Mayor Andrew Young hailed Zoo Atlanta as the most successful privatization in Georgia history.  The zoo won five awards for excellence in exhibit design and conservation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). 

Dr. Maple is the author and editor of more than 200 scientific publications, including ten books, and a past president of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), where he established the association’s first diversity initiative, worked to differentiate AZA institutions from roadside attractions, and strengthen the association’s scientific network. 

He is internationally recognized as an expert on the behavior, welfare, and conservation of great apes. 

Maple taught at Emory University and at the Georgia Institute of Technology for 30 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of the Pacific and a Master's degree and Ph.D. in psychobiology from the University of California at Davis.

Dr. Maple retired from Zoo Atlanta in 2003 and became President/CEO of the Palm Beach Zoo in 2005.

He has been an advisor and consultant to the World Wildlife Fund, the African Wildlife Foundation, the Wildlife Society, the Walt Disney Company, and the National Institutes of Health and chairman of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International, and received a presidential appointment as a member of the National Museum Services Board.

Dr. Maple is currently the Professor in Residence and Director of Wildlife Wellness at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, where he is continuing his long legacy of promoting animal welfare and wellness.

Nadia McCaffrey is Franco-American.

American Gold Star Mother of Sgt Patrick McCaffrey who was shot 8 times and killed in Balad, Iraq June 22 2004.

Nadia Michitch-McCaffrey was born in Paris and grew-up in the province of Auvergne,(Lafayette country.) in France.

She studied the Arts, and nursing. She married an American, Robert McCaffrey; she immigrated to California, United States in the 60‘s.

She is the founder of Angelstaff, a group of trained volunteers who bring a caring
presence to terminally ill and their families.

Her son, Sgt Patrick R. McCaffrey Sr., was born at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto CA, May 26 1970.

Patrick was killed by Iraqi soldiers in an ambush near Balad, Iraq on June 22, 2004.

Nadia was the first Gold Star Mother to allow the media to welcome Patrick at Sacramento
International Airport.

Since, Nadia has travel internationally including the Middle East, speaking of her
son’s life and death, his legacy, his 3 children, Janessa and Patrick Jr & Florentino.

She gives a face to the war by telling people Patrick’s story.
Speaking about his patriotism (Patrick enlisted after 9/11), about his compassion that
he had for everyone to his last breathe. Patrick was an advocate & helped protect
his fellow soldiers to the end as well as the Iraqi children.

Nadia McCaffrey has become an international voice for Peace, Justice and
responsibility in government.

In Patrick's memory, she has dedicated the rest of her life helping the combat veterans; Nadia created a "second home" where unwinding and reclaiming lives is priority; giving the opportunity to create a better future for themselves and their families. Offering advocacy, guidance in proper carrier training, patience, understanding, compassion, and a safe place to overcome the after effects of the war such as PTSD & TBI.

VALERIE VON SOBEL

A survivor of the Communist era, Valerie Sobel fled her native Hungary during the 1956 uprising against the Soviet regime, eventually to settle in Toronto, Canada. She vividly remembers that time. She recalls carrying her younger brother on her back while walking eight miles with her parents to safer ground in Austria, and thereafter many months of stays at refugee camps.

In high school, Valerie was interested in acting. Through a fortuitous chance encounter, she was flown to Los Angeles for a film test, got the role and was introduced in Mr. Hobbs takes a vacation” with Jimmy Stewart. She became and remained a California resident since 1962 to date. Marriage followed, with the birth of her son Andre and daughter Simone. She eventually left film to focus on her family and later developed a successful career in interior design with her projects appearing in several books and magazines, including Architectural Digest. She remains a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) as a “keepsake from that career.”

A new period marred the life of Valerie Sobel the day her teen age son Andre was diagnosed with a malignant and inoperable brain tumor. After a year in 1995 the family suffered his devastating loss.

Shortly after Andre’s death Valerie’s mother died, and a year later to the day, her husband Erwin 54, took his own life.

Through the subsequent months of crushing grief, Valerie sought to re-direct her life. What has continued to haunt her was the witnessing of children that were alone in hospitals; facing pain, treatments, their fears and often death alone. These were mostly the children of single parents/ single caregivers. Almost as a spiritual revelation, a vision for the organization came to her. Going through her own personal experience with her son in a financially secure position that these parents did not have. The injustice of this was the motivation for establishing the Andre Sobel River of Life Foundation. “Experiencing the sudden onset of a life-threatening illness of a child devastates every family,” she said. “But for the single caregiver without financial resources, it is unimaginable.” The Foundation is named after Andre because if gives his mother great pleasure to see and hear his name.

The vision statement of the organization is “We care for very ill children by caring for their caregiver”

The Foundation fulfills its mission by offering emergency assistance to those single parents who are experiencing a financial crisis brought on by the medical crisis of their child. Their program operates at an ever-growing network of affiliated hospitals, and their social workers identify the families where other resources have been exhausted or are unavailable.

The hallmark of the ASRL organization is to provide “help in 24 hours”, and so far they never had to say no. Over the past six years, they have supported thousands of family members. They pay rents, mortgages, utilities, non covered medical costs, transportation, and often for burials. Many other organizations take up to three months to provide help; The Andre Sobel River of Life Foundation is there when it matters most. “We spend tons of money on overnight Fed-ex and hand-delivered checks,” Sobel said.

The Foundation’s pioneering work in servicing caregivers highlighted a problem that in turn engendered a study by the National Institutes of Health about the subject of how single parent families cope with the life threatening illness of their child. Valerie’s expertise has led to collaborative efforts with Harvard pediatrician, Dr. Elizabeth Rider, in the creation of a book titled “Caring for the Caregiver: A formula for Survival.” “I know what a caregiver feels and needs by paying the full price of admission,” said Sobel.

The Andre Sobel River of Life Foundation began with Valerie Sobel and her family’s financial contribution and now their program operates at 12 prestigious pediatric hospitals in 7 states; including the Children’s Inn at the NIH, Stanford’s and Harvard’s Children’s hospitals “By the time a child is seriously ill, they are no longer in the hands of a pediatrician, so our system of delivery is through the hospitals,” Valerie says that her prior life and its accomplishments have been eclipsed by the passion she now feels for the work that no life can prepare one for , the extraordinary mission of the Andre Sobel River of Life Foundation. Her sole priority has become the plight of the single caregiver caught in the devastating struggle of their child with a life threatening illness.

Valerie is a recognized speaker on the subject of caregiver support, a trained Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), a charter member of the Women of Washington/Los Angeles, the Music Center’s Blue Ribbon Society, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, The Council of Women World Leaders, the recipient of Nawbo’s (National Association of Women Business owners) “inspiration of the Year Award” and is a founding member of the Women’s Foundation of California’s Donor Circle. Joseph McMoneagle has well over 30 years of professional expertise in research and development, in numerous multi-level technical systems, the paranormal, and the social sciences. Experience includes: experimental protocol design, collection and evaluation of statistical information, prototype design and testing, Automatic Data Processing equipment and technology interface, management, and data systems analysis for mainframe, mini-mainframe, and desktop computer systems.
