Guest Biography:

No one wants to feel dispensable or replaceable at work. Sometimes it feels like you are treated as an interchangeable part versus a human being. What would it be like to work in an organization that remembers you are human and in fact supports it? A number of organizations have created cultures that serve both the needs of human beings who happen to be employees and serve the bottom line. And there is a correlation between the two. How do we make this happen? This is something Mary Schaefer has dreamed of and worked for her entire career, and we'll talk about it today. Mary has a Master's degree in Human Resources and is certified as a human resources professional. She lives and teaches empowerment and how to have productive manager/ employee interactions. As a speaker, coach and trainer, she focuses on making the most of what people at work can contribute to an organization through their energy and creativity, while at the same time meeting their own specific needs for meaningful work. Mary calls herself a "Chief Encouragement Officer." In our discussion today we’ll talk about what it takes to revolutionize your workplace to be “pro-human.”

The Romantics:

While it's true that the Romantics took much of their simple thunder from the British Invasion, their primary influence was the Frenzied excitement of the late 60's Detroit rock scene. They cut their teeth on that High Energy sound characterized by the MC5, the Psychedelic Stooges, Bob Seger and the Last Heard, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Scott Morgan's Rationals, SRC, and Garage icons the Underdogs, infusing it with sincerity, irony, spontaneity, and of course, Volume. The Romantics took the essence of this scene and translated it to suit their own modern experience. They favored short brash songs, “punk short” hair and popularized red leather suits.

After releasing their own independent single in 1977, consisting of the first two songs they had written - “Little White Lies” and “I Can't Tell You Anything” - The Romantics traveled east to establish an audience. Soon after Bomp Records' Greg Shaw sees them in Toronto and funds a single, which included “Tell It To Carrie,” “First In Line,” something of a stylistic matrix for The Romantics' music to come. The Romantics considered themselves well removed from the Sex Pistols' negativity. They didn't want Rock & Roll to go away rather they want, as Skill tells a reporter in 1979: “to still have fun with three chords.” The late 70's U.K. punk movement was then diluted and still misunderstood in America.

Through constant touring over three years and meetings with CBS Brass, Natt Weiss, & Nemperor A&R reps, they signed with Nemperor Records in 1979.

The 80's:

The original Romantics, Palmar, Skill, Cole and Marinos released their debut LP. Anchored by “What I Like About You,” “When I Look In Your Eyes” and a cover of The Kinks, Ray Davies' “She's Got Everything.” The album is an exemplary pop-rock period piece. The Romantics evoke a youthful portrait, haunting in its innocence, a direct contrast to the tough world they know in Detroit. Now nearly 30 plus years later they are still known for having created some of the most influential and beloved rock and roll of all time.

The 2nd record, “National Breakout” in late 1980, featuring standouts “Night Like This” and “Forever Yours” produced tours of Europe and Australia. The 3rd record “Strictly Personal” was released in1981. In 1983-84 they raised the bar with “In Heat” the platinum album bearing 2 top 10 singles, “Talking In Your Sleep” and “One In A Million” followed with a tour of Japan.

In late 1990, the Romantics added current Blondie drummer Clem Burke to the lineup, and in 1994 they released a 5 song EP titled “Made In Detroit” for Westbound Records, containing fellow Detroiter George Clintons' Funkadelic songs, “You & Your Folks.” And “I Wanna Know,” along with three originals. Later that year, The Romantics received an award for Outstanding Pop/Rock Recording Artists from the Motor City Music Awards in 1992.

1995 saw The Romantics settle their 7 year old lawsuit against their former management. The Romantics were presented with the Distinguished Achievement Award at the Detroit Music Awards in 1999. “61/49” was released in the fall of 2003 and named for the storied crossroads near Clarksdale, Mississippi where bluesman Robert Johnson made his pact with the devil. “61/49” is intended as a tip of the hat to the roots of rock 'n' roll and forms the nucleus of The Romantics' fervent pop.

21st Century Romantics:

Due to touring commitments with Blondie, Clem Burke recommended the addition of Brad Elvis. Regaled by both critics and fellow drummers for his precision beat-keeping and showmanship, Elvis is best known as a member of the Elvis Brothers, Screams and The Handcuffs. In addition to being a staple on classic and contemporary rock radio, television commercials and movies; Sirius/XM Satellite radio has also embraced The Romantics. Their songs can be heard on a number of stations including Little Steven’s Underground Garage.

2011 brought the re-emergence of original bass player, vocalist, Rich Cole and Mike Skill back on guitar. The band is now able to expand their set list and include more songs from their first two albums, and include new and unreleased material. This now allows them to focus on more harmonies and get back to their original rock sound that established The Romantics from the very beginning.

Once again much to the excitement of their fans worldwide, The Romantics Palmar, Skill, Elvis, and Cole are touring the US and Europe in support of their recently released singles from their highly anticipated new album release “Up From The Rubble” for summer 2016!

Also the New Rock Band 4 has announced 3 new songs one of them “What I Like About You”:

Lastly, the new CocaCola Summer campaign is using “What I Like About You” title on the cans/bottles and song advertising their products...on TV and stores:

Guest Biography:

DeathofmyPet.com and the EBook, I Lost My Best Friend Today, were written by Judy H. Wright.

Judy is a life educator, family coach, and keynote speaker. She has written more than 20 books, hundreds of articles and speaks internationally on family, parenting and relationship issues, including communication, encouragement, and end of life. She also focuses on personal issues like anxiety, depression, confidence and self-esteem and works with many small and large organizations–from Head Start to child care resource centers.

Lately, Judy has been interested in research and observation on the use of pets in building resiliency and overcoming trauma. She is a registered Pet Bereavement Coach and offers one-on-one mentoring to help those who have lost a best friend and beloved pet.

The symbol of the artichoke has great meaning for Judy in her teaching and writing. As she works with families, she sees that frequently only the outer edges are exposed, which can be prickly and sometimes bitter to the taste. But, as you expose the artichoke and people to warmth, caring, and time, gradually the leaves begin to open and expose the real treasure–the heart.

The artichoke also became a teaching lesson when Judy, as a young military mother, moved her family into military housing in California to find a surprising collection of artichokes planted in their yard. Knowing it takes two years for the vegetable to grow, Judy realized the original gardener never saw the fruits of their labor, but planted the artichokes anyway. Judy was reminded by this experience that many times in life our actions toward others are felt by people we will never meet, but we plant the seeds of kindness anyway.

You will enjoy Judy’s approachable manner, wonderful storytelling and common-sense solutions gleaned from working with hundreds of families and organizations just like yours. Your encounter with Judy will leave you feeling inspired, entertained, and especially motivated.

The Ray Shasho Show Welcomes

Actress,Singer,Dancer, Broadway Star, Producer

 Lucie Arnaz

Believe it or not, Lucie Arnaz is celebrating 50 plus years in show business. She began her long career in a recurring role on television on The Lucy Show, opposite her mother, Lucille Ball. At age fifteen, she became a series regular on Here’s Lucy, a show which ran for six seasons. She starred in her own series, The Lucie Arnaz Show and later in the critically acclaimed Sons & Daughters on CBS.

On the big screen, Lucie has starred opposite Neil Diamond and Sir Laurence Olivier in The Jazz Singer (for which she received a Golden Globe nomination), opposite Tom Laughlin in Billy Jack Goes To Washington, alongside Ken Howard in Second Thoughts, and opposite Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Henry Winkler in Down To You, a Miramax film. Lucie costarred with Richard Roundtree, Robert Loggia and Bob Forster in Wild Seven and in an award-winning controversial film about second hand smoke from writer/director Alyssa Bennett entitled The Pack which debuted at Sundance.

Lucie has starred in many "made for television" films, as well, including the cult classic, Who Killed The Black Dahlia?, Washington Mistress, The Mating Season opposite Laurence Luckinbill and Swoosie Kurtz, Who Gets The Friends? with Jill Clayburg and James Farentino, and Abduction of Innocence opposite Dirk Benedict.

On the stage, Lucie got her equity card playing many of the best women's roles in the theatre - Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Daisy Mae in L'il Abner (her first time opposite Dirk Benedict), Princess Winifred, opposite Kaye Medford, Rudy Vallee, Christine Andreas and Don Amendolia in Once Upon a Mattress, Goodbye Charlie (produced by Burt Reynolds), A Time to Stay, opposite John Ritter. With Stockard Channing and Sandy Duncan, Lucie created the role of Kathy in the west coast premiere of Vanities at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. She later won the role of Gittle Mosca in the national company of the Cy Coleman/Dorothy Field's "love of a musical", Seesaw, opposite John Gavin and Tommy Tune and directed by Michael Bennett. She spent a summer at The Jones Beach Theatre in New York, playing Annie Oakley in Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun, with Harve Presnell. During that summer, Broadway beckoned and she auditioned for and snagged the coveted role of the unforgettably wacky, Sonia Wolsk, in the Neil Simon/Marvin Hamlisch/Carole Bayer Sager musical They’re Playing Our Song, directed by Robert Moore for which she received The Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Circle, Theatre World and Outer Critic's Circle Awards.

In 1979, during the run of They’re Playing Our Song, Lucie met her husband, actor/writer, Laurence Luckinbill, while he was also on Broadway in another Neil Simon hit, Chapter Two. The couple were married in June of 1980 and they have appeared together in the American premiere ofEducating Rita, directed by Mike Ockrent, sold out tours of I Do, I Do and They’re Playing Our Song, national companies of Whose Life is it Anyway? and the Andrew Bergman comedy Social Security, directed by Mike Nichols (a Carbonelle Award) and in the revival of Lunt and Fontane'sThe Guardsman at The Papermill Playhouse. Her first album, Just in Time, was released on the Concord Jazz label and her newest CD, Latin Rootswas released in 2010 through LML Music.

Throughout her varied career, Ms. Arnaz has found herself helming several different production retrospectives based on the iconic fame of her parents, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. With her husband, Larry Luckinbill, she teamed up to form ArLuck Entertainment, which produced the Emmy award-winning documentary, Lucy & Desi: A Home Movie, (for NBC in 1993, and subsequently A&E and Nickelodeon and currently available in DVD), published two CD-ROMs; Lucy & Desi: The Scrapbooks, Volume I and How to Save Your Family History: A 10-Step Guide by Lucie Arnaz. ArLuck Entertainment produced An Evening With Lucille Ball: Thank You For Asking, a one woman show starring Suzanne LaRusch co-written and directed by Ms. Arnaz.

In January of 2010, Lucie was Artistic Director for Babalu! - a celebration of the Latin Music craze of the '40s and '50s as seen through the music of the Desi Arnaz Orchestra, which opened the 40th season of the famed Lyric and Lyricist Series at the 92nd St. Y in New York City. ArLuck Entertainment also currently produces all of Miss Arnaz’s symphony and concert performances, her lecture appearances (Surviving Success and Q&A seminars) as well as Mr. Luckinbill’s four one man shows: Lyndon, Clarence Darrow, Tonight! Teddy! Tonight!, Hemingway and a compilation lecture entitled The Great Americans: Words Matter.

In 2001 Lucie and her brother, Desi Arnaz, executive-produced the I Love Lucy 50th Anniversary Special which aired on CBS, and received an Emmy nomination. Miss Arnaz says with a smile: “A few of those kinds of projects are healthy. My parents are always happiest when they’re working.”

In 2006 Lucie spent several months back on The Great White Way costarring with Jonathan Pryce, Norbert Leo Butz, Rachel York and Gregory Jbara, and then Keith Carradine, Brian D'Arcy James, and Sherie Rene Scott in the rib tickling Jeffrey Lane/David Yazbek musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, brilliantly directed by Jack O'Brien and played to sell-out crowds at the Imperial Theatre where she made her first Broadway appearance nearly 30 years before in They’re Playing Our Song.

In January of 2010, Lucie was Artistic Director for BABALU: A Celebration of the Latin Music Craze of the ‘40s and ‘50s as Seen Through the Music of The Desi Arnaz Orchestra which opened the 40th season of the famed Lyric and Lyricist Series at the 92nd St. Y in New York City with sold out performances. Having over 15 year success as an actress gave her access to in-depth experience of the full bandwidth of understanding human emotions through character development. Strengthening her skills through private education courses in psychology, NLP & multiple trusted mentors gave her a strong understanding of mindset, human behavioral patterns & relationship dynamics.

Her passion for coaching on the topic of relationships is rooted in her personal experience of overcoming her own limiting beliefs created from an unhealthy, verbally abusive relationship with an elder family member – with whom she lived with at a young age. Unaware of the impact on a young mind, the situation left her emotionally closed off from her own feelings & an unhealthy pattern of thinking that’s how love is given.  Thus, resulting in attracting a string of unhealthy, manipulative romantic relationships.

The lessons led her to deepen her understanding of herself, why she was subconsciously attracting the same partners, how to break those patterns & help others remain open to love & happiness after heartache & broken trust.

Currently Serah’s focus on coaching men provides them with powerful insights into the female mind, wants & needs leading to a mature relationship with themselves & their partner.

Guest Biography:

Chiron  (the wounded healer) practices under the nom du plume of Chiron, a name inherited from the Greek man/centaur God of healing, wisdom and education whose name was applied to the mysterious minor planet/comet discovered in 1977 by Charles T. Kowal, and orbiting the Sun between Saturn and Uranus.

Chiron’s unusual technique in reading an individual incorporates casting a natal chart, analyzing natal patterns, observing the current outer planet transits as they impact the natal chart and then utilizing the Morgan Greer Tarot in tandem with the chart; all to discern events happening, and about to happen, to the querent in the immediate future. An excellent clairsentient, he is able to gain some insight during this process to determine the opportunities and challenges for those he reads.
