Guest Biography:

After attending Antioch College, Jim Wasserman spent several years traveling in the U.S. in search of spiritual teaching. He settled in New York City in 1973 and began working at Samuel Weiser's Bookstore, then the world's largest English language occult specialist. After six months, he moved to the publishing department, where he rose to General Manager and helped develop Weiser's in-house production department. Among his many responsibilities, he discovered a love for book design while creating his first book jacket.

In 1977, he left Weiser's to establish Studio 31, offering full service book production and graphic design. In 1994 Bill Corsa of Specialty Book Marketing joined Studio 31 as a partner with responsibilities for marketing and financial management. Bill and Jim have joined their talents to offer book packaging and printing in addition to traditional design and production through Intrinsic Books.

Jim has also played a key role in numerous seminal publications of the literary corpus of the English philosopher Aleister Crowley. Three of the most important of these include his supervision of Weiser's 1976 edition of The Book of the Law, in which the holograph manuscript was appended to the corrected typeset text of the O.T.O.'s 1938 publication, in conformity with the book's instructions, for the first time in a popular volume. After several years of negotiation, he successfully arranged to professionally re-photograph the Crowley/Harris Tarot paintings for an improved second edition of the Thoth Tarot deck published in 1977, to which he contributed the Booklet of Instruction. In 1983, he helped to produce The Holy Books of Thelema, the critical collection of Crowley's inspired (Class A) writings.

In 1992, Jim wrote and designed Art and Symbols of the Occult (Inner Traditions), which was revised and expanded in 2005 as The Mystery Traditions: Secret Symbols and Sacred Art. This magnificent collection of full color occult images is unmatched in its depth, scope, and beauty.

In 1993, he edited and wrote an extensive introduction to Aleister Crowley and the Practice of the Magical Diary, which was revised and expanded in 2006 for Redwheel/Weiser. Now fully annotated, it is an immensely useful text for both beginners and serious scholars of Crowley's works.

In 1994, after 15 years of development, his groundbreaking edition of The Egyptian Book of the Dead: The Book of Going Forth by Day was published by Chronicle Books. The book features a magnificent color reproduction of the complete Papyrus of Ani with an integrated English translation. Modern technology and painstaking book design were joined to reclaim and recreate an ancient masterpiece.

In 1996, he edited a new edition of Aleister Crowley's epic poem AHA! Liber CCXLII with commentaries, to which he contributed an Afterword and redesigned text and cover (New Falcon Publications).

In 2001, his book The Templars and Assassins: The Militia of Heaven, a major study of the medieval Order of Assassins and the Knights Templar, was published by Inner Traditions. It would provide a prophetic look at Islamic Terrorism just four months prior to the September 11 attacks.

The Slave Shall Serve: Meditations on Liberty, published in 2004 (Sekmet Books), is his most controversial book. It is a collection of essays devoted to the relationship between Political Liberty and the Spiritual Path.

In 2005, he and his wife Nancy launched The Weiser Concise Guides, a series of books on basic occultism. Each book is written by an expert in the field and follows the overall theme of accessibility in theory and practice, as well as listing the best resources for continued study. The series includes five titles: Alchemy, Yoga, Herbs, Astrology, and the teachings of Aleister Crowley.

In 2006, Jim assembled a magnificent collection of Crusader images for An Illustrated History of the Knight Templar. This full-color masterpiece offers a visual cornupia of the Knights Templar Order, their fortifications in the Holy Land and Europe, historical battles, interpretative romantic paintings, along with modern photographs. The accompanying text and captions help to place the modern Crusades in context.

In 2007, Secret Societies: Illuminati, Freemasons, and the French Revolution was published by Ibis Press. An enlarged edition of the classic text by Una Birch, Secret Societies and the French Revolution, this book has nearly been doubled in length by Jim's editorial efforts. A must for those who seek to understand the real influence of the Illuminati.

In 2007, he and Keith Stump completed the screenplay for Divine Warriors: The Birth of Heresy, an epic historic drama. Against the sweeping background of the medieval Crusades, two political and religious enemies from opposing mystical secret societies, the Knights Templar and Syrian Assassins, discover a unifying faith that leads them in a fight to protect and liberate mankind.

In 2008, The Secrets of Masonic Washington: Signs, Symbols, and Ceremonies at the Origin of America's Capital was published by Inner Traditions. This full-color guide provides a history of Freemasonry and our Founding Fathers, as well as an inspiring walking tour of Washington, D.C. It includes important Masonic structures and symbols that fill the center of AmericaÕs capital. It is a visual and poetic testament to the spiritual principles underlying the unique American experiment.

In early 2009, he and his wife Nancy released To Perfect This Feast: A Performance Commentary on the Gnostic Mass. An outgrowth of their resource website on Aleister Crowley's Gnostic Mass, it breaks new ground in the understanding of that key rite.

In 2010, he and J. Daniel Gunther completed Pythagoras: His Life and Teachings, published by Ibis Press. Theh book is a compendium of classical sources on the Father of Philosophy, one of the most influential figures of all time.It has been and expanded for a modern audience. Originally written by Thomas Stanley and published in 1687, thiss edition includes a Preface by Manly P. Hall and an Introduction by Dr. Henry L. Drake. It includes a study of Greek and Latin sources and is illustrated.

In late 2011, The Temple of Solomon: From Ancient Israel to Secret Societies was published. The Temple is the intersection between Heaven and Earth, the dwelling place of the Lord among His peoples, built when ancient Israel was at the peak of its political and spiritual power. The site of Solomon's Temple became the headquarters of the Knights Templar, and is at the center of the founding myth of Freemasonry.

In June of 2012, his In the Center of the Fire: A Memoir of the Occult 1966–1989 was published by Ibis Press. This is an explosive and revealing account of the origins and early years of TAHUTI Lodge of Ordo Templi Orientis in New York City, the 1976 magical battle between Grady McMurtry and Marcelo Motta in which Jim played a pivotal role, and the copyright contest over the Aleister Crowley literary estate fought in courtrooms from Maine to California. In addition, he shares tales of his experiences in the New York City bohemian culture of the 1970s and 80s.

In addition to his love of graphic design and an interest in religion and creative mythology, he maintains an ardent passion for political Liberty. He is a student of the United States Constitution, the writings of the Founding Fathers, and is a lifetime member of the NRA. Born in New Jersey in 1948, Jim is married with two children.

Guest Biography:

“There can be no daily democracy without daily citizenship.” Ralph Nader

Ralph Nader is one of America’s most effective social critics. Named by The Atlantic as one of the 100 most influential figures in American history, and by Time and Life magazines as one of the hundred most influential Americans of the twentieth century, his documented criticism of government and industry has had widespread effect on public awareness and bureaucratic power. He is the “U.S.’s toughest customer” says Time magazine. His inspiration and example have galvanized a whole population of consumer advocates, citizen activists, and public interest lawyers who in turn have established their own organizations throughout the country.

For over four decades, Nader has exposed problems and organized millions of citizens into more than 100 public interest groups to advocate for solutions. His efforts have helped create a framework of laws, regulatory agencies, and federal standards that have improved the quality of life for two generations of Americans. Because of Ralph Nader we drive safer cars, eat healthier food, breathe better air, drink cleaner water, and work in safer environments.

The crusading attorney first made headlines in 1965 with his book Unsafe at Any Speed, a scathing indictment that lambasted the auto industry for producing unsafe vehicles. The book led to congressional hearings and a series of automobile safety laws passed in 1966, including the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Legislation

Since 1966, Nader has been responsible for at least eight major federal consumer protection laws such as the motor vehicle safety laws, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Meat and Poultry Inspection Rules, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Freedom of Information Act. He was instrumental in the creation of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. Many lives have been saved by Nader’s involvement in the recall of millions of unsafe consumer products, including defective motor vehicles; in the protection of laborers and the environment; and, in creating an atmosphere of corporate and governmental accountability.

Groups

Nader’s original research organization is the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Study of Responsive Law. Since 1969, the Center has produced innumerable reports on wide-ranging subjects such as the Interstate Commerce Commission, auto and food safety, water pollution and drinking water contamination, occupational hazards, veterans problems, pensions, corporate welfare, and government procurement.

Other Nader inspired groups include the Aviation Consumer Action Project, Center for Auto Safety, Clean Water Action Project, Disability Rights Center, Pension Rights Center, Freedom of Information Clearinghouse, and the Congressional Accountability Project.

Nader also helped establish the PIRGs– Public Interest Research Groups– the student-funded and controlled organizations which function on college campuses in 23 states. Their impact alone has been tremendous. The groups have published hundreds of ground-breaking reports and guides, lobbied for laws in their state legislatures, and called the media’s attention to environmental and energy problems.

The largest of the Nader organizations is Public Citizen, founded in 1971. The groups under the Public Citizen umbrella include Congress Watch, Health Research Group, Critical Mass Energy Project, Global Trade Watch, and the Litigation Group. Public Citizen’s nationwide membership has grown to over 100,000.

Political Action

It is hard to keep up with Nader. He has built an effective national network of citizen groups that have had a major impact in areas ranging from tax reform to nuclear energy to health and safety programs. The ultimate goal of this movement is to give all citizens more rights and remedies for resolving their grievances and for achieving a better society. As The New York Times said, “What sets Nader apart is that he has moved beyond social criticism to effective political action.”

Nader’s overriding concern and vision is presently focused on empowering citizens to create a responsive government sensitive to citizens’ needs. The top of Nader’s agenda has been defending the U.S. civil justice system. Corporate lobbyists and certain legislators have worked on both the federal and state levels to restrain consumers’ rights to seek justice in court against wrongdoers in the area of product liability, securities fraud, and medical negligence. Nader co-authored a book on corporate lawyers and the perils of the legal system entitled No Contest.

The current financial crisis is also a large concern of Nader’s; the deregulation of the banking industry in the early 1980s through the late 1990s led to speculative real estate deals and casino capitalism. Taxpayers are now being forced to pick up the tab for the bailout of the Wall Street speculators. This is one of many examples of corporate subsides taxpayers finance through a system Nader calls “corporate welfare.” Nader is also an advocate of insurance reform, including loss-prevention activity and insurance consumer education. He co-authored the book Winning the Insurance Game, and has been working with consumer activists in Massachusetts and California on improving the cost and coverage of automobile and health insurance in those states.

Today, Nader writes and lectures on the growing “imperialism” of multinational corporations and of a dangerous convergence of corporate and government power. With the passage of autocratic trade treaties like the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), this merger of corporate and government interests is escalating. Since the 1970s, Nader has advocated for the total abolition of nuclear and fossil fuel energy in favor of solar, tidal, wind, and geothermal sources because of environmental, labor, national security, disaster preparedness, foreign policy, and government accountability concerns. A magazine founded by Nader in 1980, the Multinational Monitor, tracks the global intrusion of multinational corporations and their impact on developing nations, labor, and the environment.

Nader is undaunted by the de-regulatory setbacks posed over the last three decades by four successive administrations from both parties. As such, Nader has been building the foundation of a third political party and a robust progressive political movement since participating in the Green Party’s first presidential campaign in 1996 to challenge the duopoly of the Republican and Democratic parties; or, as Nader calls them, “tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum”. Nader’s political motivation is best demonstrated by his recognition that “You’ve got to keep the pressure on, even if you lose. The essence of the citizen’s movement is persistence.”

The Nader Legacy

Nader certainly has remarkable tenacity, as well as an unshakable commitment to his mission. When asked to define himself, he always responds, “Full-time citizen, the most important office in America for anyone to achieve.”

Nader’s impact on the American political spectrum is enduring. As former U.S. Senator James Abourezk observed, “For the first time in U.S. history, a movement exists whose sole purpose is to keep large corporations and the government honest.”

Guest Biography:

Medicine, Miracles, and Manifestations: A Doctor’s Journey Through the Worlds of Divine Intervention, Near-Death Experiences and Universal Energy is a nonfiction narrative about the surgical career and spiritual quest of Dr. John L. Turner and his evolutionary journey into the field of Integral Medicine. After graduating from the Ohio State University with a degree in engineering physics, Dr. Turner continued in graduate school at the Ohio State University, Department of Physics.

Three years into the PhD program, he was given a book about Edgar Cayce, The Sleeping Prophet. This changed the course of his life! He was excited about the existence of a spiritual world and made immediate plans to attend the Ohio State University’s College of Medicine where he earned his M.D. He completed his internship year in general surgery and his first year neurosurgical residency at Ohio State University. He completed the remaining four years of neurosurgical training at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

For eighteen years, he served as the sole neurosurgeon on the island of Hawai’i, initially performing lifesaving procedures with a marginally trained staff and substandard equipment. By all measures, John L. Turner is a surgeon with classic western medical credentials. From his first day on call in Hilo, Hawai’i, metaphysical events appeared for his edification and continue to the present day.

Over the past ten years, the field of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) has generated excitement as the next major source for improved better health care delivery. The aim of CAM (or Integral Medicine) is: “To use a complete and as comprehensive as possible approach in treating any illness . . .” This requires the practitioner to use many modes of inquiry to carry out the healing task. These modalities are grounded in empirical research and relate to models of human psychology, consciousness, subconsciousness, alternative medicine and Eastern healing therapies.

In a book entitled Mind, Body and Health: Toward an Integral Medicine by James Gordon, Dennis Jaffe and David Bresler (1984), the authors called on health professionals to “consider the possibility of a universal life force as manifested mentally, physically and spiritually, which is benevolent and at the ground of human development and healing.” In Medicine, Miracles, and Manifestations, Dr. Turner encounters this universal life force in a variety of nontraditional healing modalities.

During his career as a surgeon, Dr.Turner’s curiosity drove him to explore several nontraditional healing modalities that broadened the scope of recovery for his patients. These new techniques included the practice of Johrei (the healing art of Japan), chanting and meditation (approaches found in all religious practices throughout history), soul travel and astral projection (as espoused by Eckankar, Robert Bruce and others), and precognition/remote viewing (as developed by Hal Puthoff, Ingo Swann and Russell Targ at the Stanford Research Institute).

Medicine, Miracles, and Manifestations, is the twenty-year story of Dr. Turner’s contributions to the field of neurosurgery through Integral Medicine. The concept of Integral Medicine has been written about by notable members of the medical community, including Andrew Weil, Larry Dossey, Deepak Chopra, Mehmet Oz and Dean Ornish. Each of these writers is a physician who specializes in internal medicine. What makes John Turner similar to these writers is that he, too, is a physician. What makes him different from these writers is that he is a neurosurgeon. In fact, he is the only brain surgeon to write of medicine from this perspective: hand’s on use of complementary techniques prior to, during and after surgery, and exploration of pathways that lead to the spiritual world.

Guest Biography:

William Henry is an investigative mythologist, author, radio talk show host, seeker and teacher. In 2007 he is celebrating his 10th anniversary as a self-published author of 14 books and numerous DVD presentations.

He has specialized in synthesizing myth and cutting edge modern science to reveal a startling but undeniable pattern of fact – that throughout history and across widely diverse cultures, there is an absolutely seamless tradition of the existence of gates to the stars, which have been preserved in the art and myths of each era and place. Beings that came from the light of the vastness of the Milky Way, and beyond, did so through these gateways… and left the secrets of a Way to the Stars for us to discover.

Loss of the secrets of this gate has brought great challenges to humanity. Rebuilding the gate is a reachable goal and will transform us into the more advanced beings we seek to become… and already are within us.

Today, physicists call these gates called stargates or wormholes. These cosmic gateways theoretically link regions of the universe millions of light years apart and allow nearly instantaneous communication between these regions.

Guest Biography:

This distinguished Texas physician, deeply rooted in the scientific world, has become an internationally influential advocate of the role of the mind in health and the role of spirituality in healthcare. Bringing the experience of a practicing internist and the soul of a poet to the discourse, Dr. Larry Dossey offers panoramic insight into the nature and the future of medicine.

Upon graduating with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Dossey worked as a pharmacist while earning his M.D. degree from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, 1967. Before completing his residency in internal medicine, he served as a battalion surgeon in Vietnam, where he was decorated for valor. Dr. Dossey helped establish the Dallas Diagnostic Association, the largest group of internal medicine practitioners in that city, and was Chief of Staff of Medical City Dallas Hospital in 1982.

An education steeped in traditional Western medicine did not prepare Dr. Dossey for patients who were blessed with "miracle cures," remissions that clinical medicine could not explain. "Almost all physicians possess a lavish list of strange happenings unexplainable by normal science," says Dr. Dossey. "A tally of these events would demonstrate, I am convinced, that medical science not only has not had the last word, it has hardly had the first word on how the world works, especially when the mind is involved."

The author of nine books and numerous articles, Dr. Dossey is the former Executive Editor of the peer-reviewed journal Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, the most widely subscribed-to journal in its field. The primary quality of all of Dr. Dossey's work is scientific legitimacy, with an insistent focus on "what the data show." As a result, his colleagues in medical schools and hospitals all over the country trust him, honor his message, and continually invite him to share his insights with them. He has lectured all over the world, including major medical schools and hospitals in the United States --Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, the Universities of Pennsylvania, California, Washington, Texas, Florida, Minnesota, and the Mayo Clinic.

The impact of Dr. Dossey's work has been remarkable. Before his book Healing Words was published in 1993, only three U.S. medical schools had courses devoted to exploring the role of religious practice and prayer in health; currently, nearly 80 medical schools have instituted such courses, many of which utilize Dr. Dossey's works as textbooks. In his 1989 book Recovering the Soul, he introduced the concept of "nonlocal mind" -- mind unconfined to the brain and body, mind spread infinitely throughout space and time. Since then, "nonlocal mind" has been adopted by many leading scientists as an emerging image of consciousness. Dr. Dossey's ever-deepening explication of nonlocal mind provides a legitimate foundation for the merging of spirit and medicine. The ramifications of such a union are radical and call for no less than the reinvention of medicine.

Guest Biography:

Annamaria Hemingway, Ph.D., is a writer, speaker, and spiritual counselor in the practice of conscious living and dying. A personal quest to discover a deeper purpose to the pilgrimage of life led her on a path to study world religious and spiritual traditions, ancient rites and rituals, mystical states of consciousness, and universal cultural mythologies surrounding death and dying. She received an MA in Consciousness Psychology, and was also granted an MA/PhD in Mythological Studies with an Emphasis on Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She has worked in hospice care, and is a member of the International Association for Near-Death Studies.

Annamaria became fascinated in tracing how the primordial affirmation of death and rebirth, signifying the transformation of consciousness, is encapsulated in ancient resurrection myths, the practices of many diverse spiritual traditions, and alchemical symbolism Her research, detailed in Practicing Conscious Living and Dying, Myths of the Afterlife, and the soon to be published Immortal Yearnings, reveals that this same affirmation is still vitally alive and manifests in spiritually transformative experiences, including contemporary near-death experiences and deathbed visions, which  reaffirm the ancient belief in the posthumous journey of the soul.

Rediscovering this great legacy of invaluable knowledge provides guidance on how to realign with the divine aspect of human existence in our materially driven culture and weaves a tapestry of hope that physical death may be just a transition into an eternal continuum of consciousness.

Guest Biography:

Mark Schumacher attended the University of Fla. as a pre-med major and later worked for 5 years in emergency medicine. After delivering babies in the field, as well as working with cardiac arrest and trauma injuries, he turned his attention to health education, wellness, and fitness.

As a sports coach for nearly 35 years, he currently is a health coach helping individuals understand that they have a choice in how healthy they can be. He believes that only through education can we solve the health care crisis in America. He doesn't believe in reaching for a prescription drug for an easy solution. Prescription drugs rarely will ever cure a disease.

He believes that you transition into a state of ill health over a period of time, and you can therefore transition out of it. The simple advice is to "Stop doing the things that are bad for you and start doing the things that are good for you".

As a two-time National Black Belt champion in Tae-kwon-do at ages 55 and 56, competing against men 20 years his junior, Mark is a great believer in challenging yourself.

Mark is the owner of Enerex USA, the premium line of nutritional supplements that most doctors, as well as Olympic athletes, prefer. He can be reached thru mark@enerexusa.com

He hopes to change the information being given to children so that the cycle of disease can be broken. If you look at statistics in the US as far as heart disease, diabetes, dementia and other degenerative diseases, we are failing miserably. One out of three children is expected to have diabetes. This is a dangerous disease causing an amputation every 6 minutes. We have to do a better job.

While living on a boat in Florida she taught herself to play guitar. During her two year stay living on a boat and traveling in the West Indies, she began her song writing debut. Soon her songs became so popular that she made the move to Los Angeles where she recorded a demo with producer Rudy Haesermann called "Monarch." The demo caught the attention her now manager Michael Hausman.

Many of her songs could be heard in many films and TV Shows. Her debut album, Given to Sudden Panic and Noisy Retreat which includes noteworthy songs such as "Drive," "In Violet" and "Hiding Cards" was produced by Nathan Larson and was released by her independent label Radio Nine Records in 2007. Guest Biography:

Susan Crain Bakos - An outspoken champion of female (and male) sexual empowerment, I created SexyPrime to enhance your sex life—by giving you technique tips, reporting on the latest sex behavior and sex science research and sex trends from around the world, connecting with you intellectually through book (and occasionally art and movie) reviews and cultural commentary, and entertaining and arousing you with sex stories. I am a research sexologist, a sex educator, a magazine journalist--with credits from The Ladies Home Journal to Penthouse--the author of twenty books and a ghostwriter. Listening and talking to people about their most intimate erotic experiences comes easily to me, and I believe sex is intrinsic to a healthy and happy life. We express our core identities through our sexuality. I support and celebrate your choices freely made, whether you are straight, gay, bi, poly, monogamous or whatever—and I stand up for female sexuality at every age and stage of life. Ah, but I also love men.

As an aging Boomer, I want to be an example of sexual freedom, especially to my sister Cougars and younger women. I am the outrageous Auntie Mame (with the latest science of sex studies in her overnight bag along with the scarves and pearls and black lace-topped thigh high stockings) who gives her married sister a vibrator for Mother's Day and adores her young nieces. I am mentally preparing for my final persona, The Grande Dame of Sex.

I am most proud of the techniques I have created: The Orgasm Loop, a revolutionary no-fail orgasm technique for women (It really works!) and The Sex Wardrobe Basics, sex techniques inspired by and paired with wardrobe items like red shoes, a string of pearls, the white boyfriend shirt—and more. (It’s a series in progress.) My original fellatio technique, The Basic Black Dress of Blow Jobs, was the first of the series.
