New Book Challenges the Foundations of Modern Psychotherapy and Offers a New Path to Mental Wellness

A groundbreaking new book by psychotherapist and educator Yildiz Sethi is challenging long-held assumptions about mental health treatment and questioning why depression and other diagnoses continue to rise despite decades of research and billions spent on care.

In Let's Take the Crap Out of Psychotherapy, released on Amazon in March 2025, Sethi examines the historical foundations of modern psychotherapy and highlights what she believes are outdated beliefs that still shape current treatment models.

Drawing on insights from neuroscience, epigenetics, and decades of therapeutic practice, Sethi argues that many mental health approaches focus on managing symptoms rather than addressing root causes. She critiques systems such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, suggesting that diagnostic frameworks and research protocols may not fully reflect the complexity of human psychology.

Sethi also raises questions about the prominence of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, widely considered a standard evidence-based approach, proposing that while helpful for symptom management, it may not always address deeper underlying drivers of distress.

Instead, the book introduces a different perspective grounded in the body’s natural capacity for healing and psychological homeostasis.

After more than 25 years of clinical practice, Sethi identified what she calls the Six Core Conditions for Wellness, principles she believes are essential for psychological recovery and resilience. Her work explores therapeutic approaches designed to access deeper mental processes, including brief and solution-focused interventions aimed at resolving underlying emotional patterns.

These ideas underpin therapeutic frameworks she developed, including Emotional Mind Integration, Rapid Core Healing, and RCH:PTIT-P&G Trauma Recovery.

“Human beings are naturally designed for healing and equilibrium,” Sethi explains. “When we understand how the mind and nervous system actually work, recovery from issues like depression and trauma can happen much more effectively than traditional models often suggest.”

Based in Mount Tamborine, Queensland, Sethi is an author, psychotherapist, educator, and host of the Crazy Normal for Better Mental Health and Wellbeing podcast. Her interdisciplinary background includes science education, counselling, hypnotherapy, and studies in spiritual and psychological traditions.

Her work aims to spark conversation within the mental health community about how psychotherapy might evolve as new scientific insights emerge.

Micah Dank

I was a 32nd degree Master Mason and I presented at the Grand Lodge in New York City for their digital library and they removed it citing it was “too risky for the fraternities reputation” and “too revealing of the signs” so I left them. I don’t deal with gatekeepers.

The Bible n and EVERY ancient holy text are encoded astrology/astronomy books. From the Sumerians to the Babylonias the Egyptians Abrahamics and the Bible. Gnostic texts, Koran and the Book of Mormon the Kolbrin Bible and the Ethiopian Bible. It’s the oldest and never talked about conspiracy. I’ve guested on 1200 podcasts the last 6 years and been on Coast 2 Coast three times, Ickonic three times and wrote 9 books about it.

His father was a producer and radio news editor at CBS News in Manhattan and his grandfather was a Producer at CBS News. From there he majored in English at SUNY Albany and transferred down to CUNY Hunter College in Manhattan to earn his Bachelors degree in ‘Language Literature and Criticism’. It wasn’t until he moved to Boston for a new job that he became interested in all the esoteric sciences including the astrology and astrotheology prevalent through his book series.

Paula Abbruzzese

My name is Paula Abbruzzese, and I’m a grandmother of eight who is ready to embrace a new chapter in life. I have lived many roles — wife, mother, business owner, student, and lifelong caregiver — and now I find myself navigating a major life transition.

After a spinal injury placed me on disability, my independence shifted overnight. I also worked hard to lose weight after being told my whole life that I was “too heavy.” I succeeded, but now I face the challenge of rebuilding my confidence and sense of self after this transformation.

I crochet. I cook. I create. I love fiercely. My eight grandchildren see me as strong — even when I don’t feel it. I know that my journey will resonate with your listeners — people who are navigating change, seeking inspiration, and learning to embrace life’s new chapters. I want to share a message of resilience, hope, and the belief that it’s never too late to reclaim your confidence and purpose.

Your show is the perfect platform to reach adults striving to turn challenges into opportunities, and I would be honored to inspire your audience with my story.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my submission. I would love the opportunity to bring my journey to your listeners.

With hope and gratitude,

Kris Land

Kris Land is an award winning author and serial technology entrepreneur who has built and exited more than a dozen high tech companies, including one IPO. From the outside, his career reflects what most people would call extraordinary success. However, behind the milestones, metrics, and business wins was a deeper personal reckoning that ultimately reshaped the trajectory of his life and work.

After reaching many of the goals high performers spend decades pursuing, Kris found himself confronting a question that quietly surfaces for many ambitious leaders. If success is supposed to bring fulfillment, why do so many accomplished people still feel restless, pressured, or internally misaligned. That question became the doorway into a much deeper exploration of fear, identity, intuition, and the hidden emotional drivers that shape both business outcomes and personal wellbeing.

Today, Kris speaks and teaches at the powerful intersection of leadership, entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence, and inner transformation. His work helps entrepreneurs, executives, and high achievers understand how unconscious fear patterns and identity conditioning often drive overwork, burnout, and the persistent feeling that something is still missing even after major success.

His award winning book, The Infinity Within, blends lived experience, spiritual insight, and practical reflection tools to help readers recognize fear not as an enemy to eliminate, but as intelligent feedback pointing toward growth and alignment. Rather than promoting surface level motivation or quick mindset hacks, Kris offers grounded, real world perspectives that resonate strongly with audiences who are ready for deeper clarity and more sustainable success.

Listeners can expect a conversation that is both deeply human and highly practical. Kris shares openly about the emotional collapse that followed his early business success, the near death experiences and pivotal moments that forced him to reevaluate everything, and the specific shifts that helped him rebuild both his life and his leadership from the inside out. His story particularly resonates with entrepreneurs, founders, corporate leaders, and professionals who appear successful on the outside but know internally they are being called toward something more meaningful.

Key themes Kris can speak to include how high achievers unknowingly build success around fear based patterns, how to distinguish between fear and true intuitive guidance in high pressure decisions, how leaders can pursue wealth and growth without disconnecting from themselves, and why emotional alignment is quickly becoming one of the most overlooked competitive advantages in modern leadership.

In addition, Kris brings a rare bridge between hard business experience and deep personal transformation. Having navigated multiple company exits, high stakes leadership environments, and profound personal turning points, he offers audiences both credibility and relatability. His message is especially timely in a world where many professionals are questioning traditional definitions of success and searching for ways to lead and live with greater clarity, resilience, and purpose.

Kris is an engaging and thoughtful guest who delivers meaningful conversations that stay with listeners long after the episode ends. His goal is simple but powerful. To help people recognize that the pressure they feel is often pointing toward their next level of growth, and that true success is not just about what we build externally, but who we become in the process.

Following a profound personal turning point that reshaped his understanding of achievement and fulfillment, Kris shifted his focus toward helping leaders, entrepreneurs, and high achievers align success with deeper purpose and emotional clarity. His work explores the powerful role that fear, identity, and intuition play in leadership, decision making, and long term wellbeing.

Kris is the author of the award winning book The Infinity Within, a transformational work that blends lived experience, spiritual insight, and practical reflection tools to help readers move through fear and reconnect with their inner guidance. The Science of Shared Growth: Why Learning Together Deepens Relationships

We are living through a loneliness epidemic and researchers are clear that it is not simply about being single or physically isolated. It is about the slow erosion of depth inside relationships. The kind of presence, vulnerability, and shared attention that makes connection feel real has become increasingly rare, even between people who love each other.

This is the conversation I want to bring to your audience.

Psychological research consistently shows that couples who engage in novel learning experiences together report higher relationship satisfaction and stronger emotional bonds. And yet most of us have never been taught how to be deliberately present with another person, how to negotiate, attune, and show up without distraction. We have the intention. We rarely have the structure.

In this episode, we would explore why presence has become a radical act, why vulnerability without structure rarely leads to real connection, and why shared learning may be one of the most overlooked tools we have for rebuilding relational depth in a distracted world.

And the practice that best embodies all of it may be the last one you would expect.

Japanese rope tying, shibari, is not what most people imagine. When you look past its reputation, what you find is a practice that meets every criterion relationship researchers use to define high-quality connection: partners negotiate boundaries out loud before anything begins, read each other's physical cues in real time, maintain undivided presence throughout, and collaborate toward something neither could do alone. Nothing is assumed. Nothing is passive. It is structured vulnerability, which is precisely what most relationships are missing

This is not a conversation about shock value. It is about rediscovering how to be fully present with another human being and why that might be the most urgent relationship skill of our time.

I bring this conversation from direct experience. Shibari Academy, which I founded, is one of the largest online shibari education platforms in the world, serving more than 200,000 students across 60 countries. Shibari Academy teaches Japanese rope art as an accessible, consent-driven, mindfulness practice. What that global community has shown, repeatedly, is that the rope is almost never the point. Connection is.

USA

Eve is the founder of Shibari Academy, one of the largest online shibari education platforms in the world, serving more than 200,000 students across 60 countries. After discovering shibari in a social setting and experiencing firsthand the depth of connection it created, she spent two years immersing herself in every course, workshop, and resource available only to find that most existing materials were intimidating, hypersexualized, or nearly impossible to follow. She built Shibari Academy to offer what she had been looking for: a structured, beginner-friendly, consent-driven approach to rope practice focused entirely on communication, trust, and relational presence. Beyond Shibari Academy, Eve is a partner at Elevín Solutions where she advises hundreds of startups annually, a volunteer mentor in startup accelerators worldwide, and a portrait painter. She holds an MBA, a degree in Chemical Engineering, and the MIT Innovators Under 35 Award.

He often emphasizes that strong communities are built through family support, local business success, and accessible education. Lastly Andreas received a presidential award.
