The No Recipe Cookbook

A cookbook for people who don't cook!

No recipes and no pictures.

Saving calories, saving money, saving time.  Faster than takeaway!

Do you think ordering take-away is faster than cooking a simple meal?

Could your savings on household spending be put to better use?

Do you want control over what's in your food?

If you answer yes to any of these questions then learning to meal plan, shop once a fortnight, and cook simple meals without a recipe, could save you time and money with less stress.

This book will talk you through a basic repertoire of go-to-meals like pasta, risotto, stir-fry, savoury mince, roast chicken in addition to breakfast and basic baking options.

A perfect way for kids to develop a life-skill or the non-cook in the family to start pitching in with the cooking.

Australia

Samantha finished school at age 16 years and commenced studying medicine at The University of Adelaide. Driven to take on challenges, despite physical limitations from congenital hip dysplasia, she became the first woman in South Australia to complete the adult Urological Surgical training program.

Now she is a self-published author of The No Recipe Cookbook – a cookbook for people who don’t cook.

Whilst training in urology, Samantha saw a need for a greater focus on incontinence treatments for women and a need for specialised care. Her vision was to establish a sub-specialty practice bringing the best treatments available to the women of South Australia. She became the first urologist in South Australia to exclusively specialise in female and functional urology, establishing Continence Matters in 2002, subsequently building her single surgeon practice into a Centre of Excellence.

Dr Pillay has served on numerous National and State boards and committees including the Chair of the Female Urology Special Advisory Group for the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand from 2007 to 2013.

As the first female section chair in South Australia for the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ), Dr Pillay served on both the National Board of the Continence Foundation of Australia as their state chairperson from 2011 to 2013.

Samantha has devoted her career as a surgeon to treating incontinence, reducing the stigma and educating doctors, health professionals and the community,

Dr Samantha Pillay's first book, The No Recipe Cookbook, ambitiously aims to covert people who don't cook, to develop a simple life skill; improving their health and time management and reducing their stress and spending.

She is a single mother and full-time practicing surgeon, running a business and a household. Time management, meal planning and simple home cooking are an essential part of her life.

Jessie Monk

Here, Now EP

Jessie Monk is an artist out of Gunaikurnai land in Australia. She sings folk songs inspired by the people she keeps meeting, stories she keeps hearing and thresholds she keeps walking through. Here, Now, Jessie Monk’s debut EP, invites listeners, with ease and grace, into an ocean filled with the waves of Jessie’s longing, seduction, playfulness, empathy, vulnerability, joy, sorrow, confusion and finally, pilgrimage toward presence.

‘Simply the most incredibly talented singer-songwriter that I've had the pleasure of interviewing and listening to in years!’ Dominic Albert, DAMusical

On their first project together, her four (sometimes five) piece band create an atmosphere bursting with freedom, generosity and intimacy. Strongly nodding the head to artists such as Joni Mitchell and Neil Young and more contemporary influences like Glen Hansard and Laura Marling, the EP distills authenticity, plucking the best from the old and the new with earthy tones, spacious emotional resonances and a resolute sense of self.

However what makes this music so special, is largely Jessie’s effortlessly soaring bell-like voice, which carries her poetic and honest lyrics with a playfulness and true virtuosity, communicating the vast landscape of paradoxes she finds herself occupying in her self exposition.

‘Jessie Monk breathes fresh air into the world of folk and roots, possessing the raw talent to take her a long way’ - LiveWire AU

In focus single Lonesome Winter Blues Jessie casts a confident spell, using her experience to persuade her own affections into a state of non-attachment, making space for breathtaking awe and transience all in one moment. The folk traditions anchoring the sentiment with a gentle humanistic acceptance, Jessie’s modern inflections imbuing this calm song with a transportive reverence.

Tastefully mixed by Cameron James Laing writer/producer for Universal Studios at The Famous Gold Watch Audiovisual Studios in Berlin, and mastered by Doug Van Slone of Focus Mastering (Bright Eyes, First Aid Kit, Lady Finger), Here Now, takes you on a journey through the peaks and valleys of your own heart channeling from the place within us all, the idyll state of vulnerability in equilibrium.

Also a dancer and an actor, Jessie has played in some major musicals in Australia, including David Bowie’s last piece, Lazarus. In 2019 she toured solo through Israel, before moving to Berlin in 2020 where she’s been astounded by her warm welcome to the thriving folk scene. Chasing the holy grail of albums like Blue and New Skin for the Old Ceremony, from Jessie Monk, you can count on grounded, story-lead folk songs about longing, loving and meeting that stranger in the mirror who continually surprises us.

‘Lonesome Winter Blues’ is available now on all digital platforms

‘Here, Now’ by Jessie Monk is out February 26th, 2021

Hi, my name is Leah Salmorin! I am a Breast Cancer Survivor and a diabetic coma survivor. I have also survived COVID-19. I am the president and founder of Paddle for the Cure NYC, a breast cancer support nonprofit and an official dragonboat team of NYC Health + Hospitals Elmhurst. I would like to talk about my story as a survivor and my organization. We would really appreciate the exposure as we are in need of donations to help us support our friends at The Hope Pavilion Cancer Clinic and to also sustain our backend employees.

USA

Hi, my name is Leah Salmorin, a proud breast cancer survivor, and I'm the Founder/President of Paddle for the Cure NYC! In my many years, I've had a close brush with the end many times but I kept going and survived all the obstacles thrown my way. I survived a diabetic coma, breast cancer, two car accidents, and COVID. In all those challnges, I've come to learn some very valuable lessons which helped me start Paddle for the Cure and become a beacon of hope for others. She is a Breast Cancer survivor and a leader who firmly believes that Water Is Life. She started Paddle for the Cure with a mission to make post-treatment recovery easy and to promote her passion for positive and healthy lifestyle for survivors like herself with her vision to end breast cancer through activities in the water!

Hope you’re well

I wonder if you could tell me if your station run segments or shows that support or review independent authors?

I'm a British independent author that would love to discuss the journey from an idea to publishing. Looking at the process and the pit falls (looking for agents and publishers or the self publishing route etc.).

The ultimate aim I guess is to encourage some of your listeners that may have aspirations to write, what steps to take.

Also express just how rewarding sharing your story can be.

I would obviously lean on my own experience and share some of my own habits and techniques that I’ve used writing my first two Novels.

Many thanks

NEW GODS

FIFTEEN DAYS IN MAY

United Kingdom

Its strange where we draw our inspiration from. We all get ideas we’d love to share. I’m pretty sure that most of the best ideas, whether it be for stories, music or anything, never see the light of day. Fact is, the idea itself isn’t the hardest part… the hardest part is getting the idea out of your head and into the head of others. That’s why it helps to have inspiration, something to help you take the leap. My inspiration for writing is my mum. I desperately wanted to do something for her. She sadly never had the opportunity to fully express herself after dying at the age of 23. Whereas most of us have the opportunity to leave our mark on the world, she never did. So, as she breathed life into me I only think its right that I breath life into her memory. This Trilogy is in her birth name, The Johnson Trilogy. Margaret Gwendolyn Johnson was my mothers name. Margaret’s character is from what I learnt about my mum over the years. According to family and friends she was brave, funny, caring and above all loving. She died tragically in January 1965, three days before my first birthday. I actually wrote ‘Fifteen Days in May’ (the second book in the Johnson Trilogy) as a stand alone tribute. The book evolved and it was clear to me that there was a lot more that needed to be explained, especially about the characters, so the Johnson Trilogy was born. If you’ve taken the time to read this book… thank you, it means a lot to me and in a strange way given me the opportunity to introduce you to the incredible woman that was my mum.

For your upcoming stories on BIPOC kidpreneurs making a difference, please consider 10-year-old author Jayomi Douglas and her book, “THE MISFIT,” pioneering the Stop Bullying movement. As a victim of bullying, Jayomi was motivated to write about bringing awareness to the dangers of bullying and to inspire, uplift and motivate others who have been bullied after journaling her feelings and thoughts. She says, “I was being bullied every single day at school and I felt like no one was doing anything about it. The story is about a 10-year-old girl named “Hope” who is experiencing being bullied at school and also at home by her older sister. It is unique because although Hope is a character I created, Hope is me, Hope could be You, Hope Symbolizes that light at the end of the tunnel.” Jayomi can speak on the following hot topics:

Negative effects of bullying on youth in 2021 during a pandemic

Tools and steps to bully prevention and virtual bullying

Statistics of students who have been victims of bullying, different types of bullying and current anti-bullying laws

What types of kids experience higher rates of bullying, teasing, and social exclusion

Host of negative outcomes for children who are victimized by these forms of bias-based bullying.

Moms defending children from bullying when they are afraid to fight back which can cause many other problems

Why we don’t realize just how far bullying can go. While it may be humor for some, it can be deadly to others.
