Music Submission, Davor Jordanovski

Davor Jordanovski
Artist or Band Name:
Davor Jordanovski

Davor Jordanovski has always known music would be his life; indeed, from his earliest recollection, it was his only choice. Fortunately, he was able to seriously pursue this path at the University of Music Arts (Saints Kiril & Metodij University) in Skopje. And while most musicians learn their trade by first listening to rock’n’roll records and then joining rock bands, DAVOR honed his already impressive skills in a full-blown 150-piece symphonic orchestra. By the time he was in his teens, he was already the featured keyboard player with Macedonian National TV network’s Big Band Orchestra, writing, arranging, performing and playing for some of the biggest and best-known musical acts in the country. This exceptional opportunity was not wasted on this extraordinary musician who was born with a depth of talent far beyond the range of many other artists.

DAVOR’s musical training was traditional: classical followed by pop and jazz, then branching out into film, mood, jazz fusion, ambient, dance, groove, symphonic, contemporary jazz and R&B. Now adeptly accomplished in all musical genres, DAVOR’s original compositions and arrangements display a rich level of sophistication while remaining simply powerful — yet never powerfully simplistic — and often served with wit and humour, as befitting the artist himself.

DAVOR grew up in Macedonia and has since made Canada his home, though he did spend a few years in Libya when he was a young child. The early impressions of living in a desert culture stayed with him as he grew and studied in his hometown of Skopje, where he was influenced by music from the Balkans and surrounding European regions. The synthesis of musical cultures has evolved into a unique style of world fusion, which successfully unifies an infinite range of disparate and varied sounds, instruments, arrangements and sensibilities.

Welcome to September! Welcome to the Fall!

My name is Maryjessie, a neo-soul low-fi artist based in L.A. I’m here to introduce you to my debut EP, “Welcome to September." This EP is centered around a feeling of beginnings as well as of nostalgia. A combination of my reflections on the past, my love for the present and my hopes for the future.

Why September? Well, school starts in September. My birthday is in September. “September” by Earth Wind and Fire is my jam. Autumn is my favorite season… the list goes on… you get the point. In short, September is the month for me.

And this past September, I turned 21, entering my junior year of college. As I embraced this process of becoming an adult, I wanted to make music that was reflective of this journey. Through the course of a day in September, this EP touches on themes of self-actualization, childhood wonder, existential melancholy, love and acceptance.

You see, I’m just an ant out here trying to learn something. Trying to learn about STEM as I pursue my engineering degree at Harvey Mudd College; to learn from my friends and family; to learn from my extracurriculars--whether that be running or teaching STEM; and to learn from hardships and opportunities. I take all that I have learned to shape my worldview. A worldview I explore through my creative writing and music.

Having lived in the Bay Area, the Northeast, the DMV, and L.A. (as well as having Haitian-American and Cape-Verdean-American parents), I draw upon diverse and eclectic musical inspirations that influence my sound. A sound I use to articulate my worldview.

Alas, the world of music!  Creation is WONDERFUL.  Advertisement and hosting is a pain in patootie!  In 2018, I took it upon myself to join the "distributing-via-paying-a-distributor-to-distribute-beautiful-music," world that is mostly inhabited by, "distributing-via-paying-a-distributor-to-distribute-YUCK," but didn't know the latter would be my cue a year later to STOP paying for distribution.  My music is beautiful and I refuse to pay for it to be lost in a sea of trash.  Upon stopping payments to my distributor after one full year of distribution, i found my music is entirely greyed out everywhere due to such naughty and unseemly behavior.

I have reclaimed my authority to distribute by whatever means necessary my music.  I hope the world will enjoy.

You may find me on YouTube, Sound Cloud and KKarlsson.com

Music Submission, Two Hats Blues Band

Artist or Band Name:
Two Hats Blues Band

The concept of the Two Hats Blues Band came to Rambling Rob in a vision.

Lying in that hospital in Rovaniemi, he had seen it all - a blues band like no other;

combining slide fingerpicking guitar mastery with porch stomping foot

percussion, wailing blues harp and thumping double bass.

Three of them, howling in harmony, swirling echoes of country, bluegrass, gospel

and R & B, creating an evocative vocal sound all of their own.

Using old, primitive tools from an era before electricity took hold, channeling

everything that came from the blues, back into the blues.

From the Mississippi to the Irwell, strange currents and tides flow through these

songs. Feelings of euphoria and desolation, soaking and reviving dusty old ideas,

making them shimmer in the sunshine stolen from other lands, other times.
