Guest Occupation: President and chief executive officer of the LEAD1 Association
Guest Biography:

The Honorable Tom McMillen is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the LEAD1 Association, which represents the athletic directors and programs of the Football Bowl Subdivision.

Founded in 1986 as the Division 1A Athletic Director’s Association, the LEAD1 Association has 130 members located in 41 states. While the mission of the LEAD1 Association remains the same in its dedication to the success of student-athletes, both in the classroom and on the playing field, for college and afterwards, the appointment of McMillen has ushered in a new era with the rebranding of the association with the name LEAD1 Association and the move of the headquarters to the Washington, D.C., area to be close to our nation’s policymakers. Essential to the direction of the LEAD1 Association under McMillen’s leadership is influencing how the rules of college sports are enacted and implemented, advocating for the future of college athletics, and providing various services to its members such as pooled purchasing arrangements to deliver better arrangements on goods and services.

McMillen, as a high school student, was the most highly recruited athlete of his era and the second high school student ever to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. While in high school, he was appointed to serve by then-President Richard Nixon on the President’s Council on Physical Fitness, the youngest Presidential appointee ever. At the University of Maryland, McMillen was an All-American basketball player and still holds the school record for career scoring average. During his time at Maryland, McMillen was a member of the 1972 Olympic basketball team that refused to accept a silver medal after its controversial and disputed championship game with the Soviet Union. After graduating as valedictorian of his class at the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, McMillen was selected as a Rhodes Scholar (the first from the University of Maryland) and attended Oxford University where he received a Bachelor and Master of Arts in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. He then played eleven years in the NBA with the Buffalo Braves, New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks, and Washington Bullets, finishing his career in 1986 as the first and only active professional athlete to run for Congress.

From 1987 to 1993, McMillen served three consecutive terms from the Fourth District of Maryland in the United States House of Representatives. During his first term in Congress, McMillen was honored with an appointment to the Board of Overseers of the United States Naval Academy. In Congress, McMillen served on the Energy & Commerce Committee; the Banking, Finance, and Urban Committee; and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. He was the cosponsor of the Student Right-to-Know Act, which required colleges and universities to disclose the graduation rates of its students and student-athletes. McMillen was also selected unanimously as president of the freshman class of the historic 100th United States Congress.

After leaving Congress, McMillen was appointed by then-President Bill Clinton as Co-Chair of the President’s Council on Fitness and Sports. He also founded several publicly traded companies and has been a successful entrepreneur. He was a member of the Board of Regents of the University of Maryland System, the Founding Chairman of the National Foundation on Physical Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition, and the author of Out of Bounds, a book examining the influence of sports on ethics.

In May 1988, McMillen was inducted into the first Capital One Academic All-American Hall of Fame as a charter member. In 2002, the 50th anniversary of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), McMillen was chosen as one of the ACC’s Top 50 players of all time. In 2010, McMillen was inducted into the University of Maryland Alumni Hall of Fame and in 2013, he was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame.

McMillen was also a founding member of the Knight Foundation’s Commission on Intercollegiate Activities that investigated abuses in college sports.  His op-eds and other articles have been published in periodicals such as The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, USA Today, and The Chronicle of Higher Education, among many others.

Guest Biography:

Jonathan Metzl is an acclaimed physician and sociologist who speaks, teaches, and writes on a range of topics including mental illness and gun violence, race and whiteness in America, health and healthcare, and diversity and structural competency in higher education.
Jonathan Metzl is the author of the groundbreaking book, Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment is Killing America’s Heartland. Winner of the 2020 Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Book Award, the book is an in-depth look at why many working-class white Americans support politicians whose policies are literally killing them.

Being a gun violence expert, professor, and psychiatrist is a unique combination that allows Dr. Metzl to speak and write about gun violence in America, and in particular to address stereotypes that link guns with race or mental illness, or that blame mental illness for mass shootings and other gun crimes.

The topic is the focus of Dr. Metzl’s most recent book, What We’ve Become: Living and Dying in a Country of Arms, a New York Times Editor’s Choice selection. By looking at a racially-charged mass shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, What We’ve Become reexamines how we as a nation address gun violence.

Jonathan M. Metzl MD, PhD, is the Frederick B. Rentschler II Professor of Sociology and Psychiatry, and the director of the Department of Medicine, Health, and Society, at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He received his MD from the University of Missouri, MA in humanities/poetics and psychiatric internship/residency from Stanford University, and PhD in American culture from University of Michigan. Winner of the 2020 Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Book Award, the 2020 APA Benjamin Rush Award for Scholarship, and a 2010 Guggenheim fellowship, Dr. Metzl has written extensively about the relationships between guns, mass shootings, and mental illness. His books include The Protest Psychosis, Prozac on the Couch, Against Health: How Health Became the New Morality, Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment is Killing America’s Heartland, and What We’ve Become: Living and Dying in a Country of Arms.

Guest Occupation: Clinical Therapist, Level 3 QHHT Practitioner, Teacher
Guest Biography:

Tríona Sheeran is a clinical therapist specializing in trauma and a spiritual mentor since 2015. She specializes specifically in QHHT® (Level 3) (Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique), Life Between Lives Regression Therapy and self empowerment through conscious and soul exploration.

She is a fully qualified, accredited trainer who provides training and mentoring to students around the world. She has studied coaching, psychotherapy and CBT, DBT, Child Psychology in addition to her holistic modalities including hypnosis, trance, altered states and intuitive modalities working with energy.

Tríona now works all over the world with one-to-one services, group training and retreats. Triona spent years studying and working in past life regressions to transform trauma. She specializes in people’s awakening and consciousness.

“Sometimes the most difficult thing people struggle with is their own self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-empowerment. By removing blocks, they access their higher self-guidance and knowledge, to truly know who they are at a soul level. Through the various modalities I offer, this is what I hope to give to you. Aswell as  regular mastaclasses, worships and courses and events.”

Earlier life and career
When Triona looks back at her earliest experiences, she recalls being aware of being something different. Indeed, she was often described as being ‘sensitive’. Staring at the stars, fascinated with how the mind worked even at the tender age of 4. Willing objects to move.

“I was terrified of the dark from as early as I can remember, sensing the presence of something else in my awareness”, she explains.

On leaving school, Triona initially thought her working life would be in the Pure Sciences. However, she soon found her interests lay in Computer Science in Dublin. She worked as a successful IT manager for Irish Ryanair Hotels and Dell for 13 years.

Life took a dramatic turn when Triona became sick during her second pregnancy and she suffered acute renal failure.

During this time, Triona suffered ‘several’ near-death experiences and long hospital stays. It was not an easy road, but she remained focused and determined to achieve the milestones she had set for the journey ahead.

In those early days of recovery, Triona began to feel she could, at last, plan that healthy future with her husband Barry and her children.  Unfortunately tragedy struck with the sudden death of her husband Barry.

‘This was a completely shocking and shattering experience. It cracked me wide open. I went through a profound Spiritual awakening. It’s what I call my full awakening, with all the physical and emotional changes that went with that. I started seeing, feeling and smelling so much clearer across what some people call ‘the Veil’, (Clairvoyance, Clair-sentience & Clairalience). It was a turning point for me to dedicate my life to the exploration of the afterlife and healing’

Unfathomable knowledge
The senses and abilities she had been aware of as a child, opened up. Through her immense grief, there came an understanding that through that tragedy, there was love. Love continues after death and in spirit realms.

‘I had a thirst for knowledge about the afterlife, spiritual philosophies, consciousness, metaphysics and meditation, mediumship and channeling. I wanted to get a wider understanding of the incarnate and discarnate soul and its consciousness, and life in and between the afterlife. This led me to research and study so many modalities and I soon found I had an aptitude to work in trance states, using hypnosis and channeling and regression to obtain information and clarity on the soul. Naturally, this led me to ponder life’s big questions such as Why are we here?’

Trained to the highest standard in the world, Tríona passes this knowledge onto others and offers various certified training in past life practitioner and healing.

Contact Tríona today to create ripples in your own life.

Guest Biography:

Cindy began hearing the Collective in early 2009, when she sat down with her laptop to write a magazine article. Those conversations continue daily, although they did not name themselves ‘Josef’ until 2017.

Beginning in 2014, they revealed themselves as ‘Abraham’, channeled by Esther Hicks.  They explained, together, they would be part of the continuation of the expansion of the Abraham message.

In early 2017, during a session with Paul Selig, Cindy was relaying to Paul what she was experiencing with Abraham. He said, “I don’t think that’s how it works, but let’s go to the Guides.” They quickly responded, “There is a group who is trying to teach through her. She must ask for a name.”

Later that evening, during her daily conversation with them, asking for clarity of the session with Paul, Esther’s face appeared suddenly and clearly, in front of her, and as she was saying, to herself, “why am I seeing Esther?” They replied, “You are seeing the lovely Esther because we don’t have a face yet. We will reveal our name at the right time. We are Abraham.”

Two days later, she saw in front of her, a succession of towing planes like you see at the beach, towing advertising banners behind them. As she focused, she saw the first banner that read, “Seth”; the second banner read, “Abraham” and the third was blank. In that moment, they said,’That’s Us.” She understood then that this group was part of the evolving consciousness of Seth and Abraham and the name would come when they were ready, and it did. Later that year, they sent her to write the first book of the Allow Your Soul to Lead series, and when they signed the Welcome letter, she wrote, “We are Josef.”

Prior to 2009, Cindy spent 35 years in creative advertising and marketing. She was raised Catholic in the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York and currently lives outside of Atlanta, Georgia.

Guest Biography:

Having never even seen Waikiki, Jim “Kimo” West came right to the tiny village of Hana, Maui in 1985 and spent much of his time there for many years. It was in Hana where he first heard the music of Gabby Pahinui, Sons of Hawaii, Sonny Chillingworth, and Atta Isaacs. Already familiar with alternate tunings, the sound of ki ho’alu became rooted deep in his musical landscape.

Kimo is regarded as one of the world’s foremost “ki ho’alu” or Hawaiian “slack key” guitar artists and his music has garnered over seventy-five million spins on streaming services. He is a 2021 Grammy Winner for his recent CD, “More Guitar Stories” and a 2019 Grammy nominee for “Moku Maluhia-Peaceful Island”. He is also a 2008 winner of the Hawaii Music Awards and four-time Na Hoku Hanohano (the Hawaiian ‘Grammy’) nominee. He is also a two-time winner of the LA Treasures Award for his efforts in keeping this important acoustic guitar tradition alive. This warm and engaging fingerpicked guitar style has its roots in 1840’s Hawaii, when Mexican vaqueros first brought guitars to the Big Island of Hawaii. If you saw the Oscar-winning film, “The Decendants” you have experienced this great acoustic guitar tradition.
Kimo is a veteran of Hawaii’s famed slack key festivals as well as the So Cal Slack Key Festival every year from 2008 through 2018. He has shared the stage with almost all the world’s top slack key players at one time or another.

His numerous CDs feature many original compositions as well as inventive arrangements of the genres’ classic repertoire.
