Dr Leo Ruickbie

Life after death, near-death experiences, ghosts, demons, vampires, magic, the unexplained...

The paranormal is in the news almost all of the time, not just because it is the subject of so many movies, but because millions of people around the world believe in the paranormal. According to polls, 34% of people in the UK believe in ghosts and 42% of people in the US believe in ghosts. And many believe that they have had paranormal experiences.

But how many people can say that they have spent their careers in the scientific study of the paranormal? In the course of my career, I have stayed in haunted houses, gone ghost hunting with ghost hunters, taken part in seances with mediums, attended Witches' Sabbats and even Satanic Black Masses. And I have researched and published extensively on these subjects.

If you need insight into any aspect of the paranormal, then ask me and I will give you an authoritative opinion.

You cannot rely on online applications. Statistics show that 70% of all jobs are secured as a result of networking--connecting with people who may not be in the position to hire you, but know people who might!

But simply contacting someone with an unfocused conversation, reciting your job history, and taking up an hour or more of their time-like most people will do-is a cringe-worthy endeavor. That's why many leaders resist taking networking meetings...And why many people hate networking for work...it feels like you are imposing and you're not sure how to really make the time productive.

Yet to be effective, you can accomplish everything you need in just 20 minutes with a specific protocol that will have your connections raving about you, recommending you to others, and maintaining a long-term productive relationship far into the future. And happy to take meetings with you!

Take it from Nathan A. Perez, co-author of The 20-Minute Networking Meeting: Learn to Network. Get a Job, along with Marcia Ballinger, PhD, who together have 45 years of combined experience as retained executive search professionals.
Nathan analyzed why some people were effective and others weren't in networking, and one principle reason was length of the meeting. Once he established that 20 minutes was the ideal amount of time, he set about condensing the perfect mix of communication techniques that elicit the valuable intel and connections that WILL lead to a job!

The 20-Minute Networking Meeting offers step-by-step guidance on how to make networking really work for you, and relieve your hesitancy. It will show you how NOT to make the mistakes that will sabotage your job search. Whether you are doing your networking online over Zoom or having a face-to-face meeting, those 20 minutes can change your life and make you stand out ahead of others who are stymied by the tepid job market during a pandemic.

Nathan A. Perez is an award-winning author, national speaker and executive career and job-search coach at Career Innovation. He brings to his clients a rare viewpoint on networking, job-search and career development. A formally trained actor with a BFA in Theatre, Nathan's 20-year career in the arts was supported by simultaneously developing a business career, which involved an inordinate amount of resumes, networking meetings and interviews in multiple business and industries. Utilizing that background, Nathan tied together with his deep live audience experience with nearly two decades in the executive search industry, delivering webinars, seminars and guest speaking engagements each year on the topics of networking, job search, and career development.

Drawing on the wealth of information in The 20-Minute Networking Meeting, Nathan can advise your listeners on:

She became the first urologist in South Australia to exclusively specialise in female and functional urology, establishing Continence Matters in 2002, subsequently building her single surgeon practice into a Centre of Excellence.

Dr Pillay has served on numerous National and State boards and committees including the Chair of the Female Urology Special Advisory Group for the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand from 2007 to 2013.

As the first female section chair in South Australia for the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ), Dr Pillay served on both the National Board of the Continence Foundation of Australia as their state chairperson from 2011 to 2013.

Samantha has devoted her career as a surgeon to treating incontinence, reducing the stigma and educating doctors, health professionals and the community,

Dr Samantha Pillay's first book, The No Recipe Cookbook, ambitiously aims to covert people who don't cook, to develop a simple life skill; improving their health and time management and reducing their stress and spending.

Here, Now EP

Jessie Monk is an artist out of Gunaikurnai land in Australia. She sings folk songs inspired by the people she keeps meeting, stories she keeps hearing and thresholds she keeps walking through. Here, Now, Jessie Monk’s debut EP, invites listeners, with ease and grace, into an ocean filled with the waves of Jessie’s longing, seduction, playfulness, empathy, vulnerability, joy, sorrow, confusion and finally, pilgrimage toward presence.

‘Simply the most incredibly talented singer-songwriter that I've had the pleasure of interviewing and listening to in years!’ Dominic Albert, DAMusical

On their first project together, her four (sometimes five) piece band create an atmosphere bursting with freedom, generosity and intimacy. Strongly nodding the head to artists such as Joni Mitchell and Neil Young and more contemporary influences like Glen Hansard and Laura Marling, the EP distills authenticity, plucking the best from the old and the new with earthy tones, spacious emotional resonances and a resolute sense of self.

However what makes this music so special, is largely Jessie’s effortlessly soaring bell-like voice, which carries her poetic and honest lyrics with a playfulness and true virtuosity, communicating the vast landscape of paradoxes she finds herself occupying in her self exposition.

‘Jessie Monk breathes fresh air into the world of folk and roots, possessing the raw talent to take her a long way’ - LiveWire AU

In focus single Lonesome Winter Blues Jessie casts a confident spell, using her experience to persuade her own affections into a state of non-attachment, making space for breathtaking awe and transience all in one moment. The folk traditions anchoring the sentiment with a gentle humanistic acceptance, Jessie’s modern inflections imbuing this calm song with a transportive reverence.

Tastefully mixed by Cameron James Laing writer/producer for Universal Studios at The Famous Gold Watch Audiovisual Studios in Berlin, and mastered by Doug Van Slone of Focus Mastering (Bright Eyes, First Aid Kit, Lady Finger), Here Now, takes you on a journey through the peaks and valleys of your own heart channeling from the place within us all, the idyll state of vulnerability in equilibrium.

Also a dancer and an actor, Jessie has played in some major musicals in Australia, including David Bowie’s last piece, Lazarus. In 2019 she toured solo through Israel, before moving to Berlin in 2020 where she’s been astounded by her warm welcome to the thriving folk scene. Chasing the holy grail of albums like Blue and New Skin for the Old Ceremony, from Jessie Monk, you can count on grounded, story-lead folk songs about longing, loving and meeting that stranger in the mirror who continually surprises us.

‘Lonesome Winter Blues’ is available now on all digital platforms

‘Here, Now’ by Jessie Monk is out February 26th, 2021

Hope you’re well

I wonder if you could tell me if your station run segments or shows that support or review independent authors?

I'm a British independent author that would love to discuss the journey from an idea to publishing. Looking at the process and the pit falls (looking for agents and publishers or the self publishing route etc.).

The ultimate aim I guess is to encourage some of your listeners that may have aspirations to write, what steps to take.

Also express just how rewarding sharing your story can be.

I would obviously lean on my own experience and share some of my own habits and techniques that I’ve used writing my first two Novels.

Many thanks

NEW GODS

FIFTEEN DAYS IN MAY

United Kingdom

Its strange where we draw our inspiration from. We all get ideas we’d love to share. I’m pretty sure that most of the best ideas, whether it be for stories, music or anything, never see the light of day. Fact is, the idea itself isn’t the hardest part… the hardest part is getting the idea out of your head and into the head of others. That’s why it helps to have inspiration, something to help you take the leap. My inspiration for writing is my mum. I desperately wanted to do something for her. She sadly never had the opportunity to fully express herself after dying at the age of 23. Whereas most of us have the opportunity to leave our mark on the world, she never did. So, as she breathed life into me I only think its right that I breath life into her memory. This Trilogy is in her birth name, The Johnson Trilogy. Margaret Gwendolyn Johnson was my mothers name. Margaret’s character is from what I learnt about my mum over the years. According to family and friends she was brave, funny, caring and above all loving. She died tragically in January 1965, three days before my first birthday. I actually wrote ‘Fifteen Days in May’ (the second book in the Johnson Trilogy) as a stand alone tribute. The book evolved and it was clear to me that there was a lot more that needed to be explained, especially about the characters, so the Johnson Trilogy was born. If you’ve taken the time to read this book… thank you, it means a lot to me and in a strange way given me the opportunity to introduce you to the incredible woman that was my mum.
