Actor Douglas Vermeeren lighting up the indie circuit in 2023.
This year has been an eventful year for filmmaker/actor Douglas Vermeeren who stars in a number of independent feature films throughout North America.
Currently, on the Film Festival circuit, the compelling horror anthology feature Tenants recently premiered at the LA Film Festival, winning Best Horror Anthology. It isn’t the first win for the feature, which also took home the coveted Best Picture award at the LA Crime & Horror Festival.
Directed by Buz Wallick, Sean Messer, and Johnathan Louis Lewis for Exit 19 Productions and Wallick Productions, Tenants takes viewers on a unique horror anthology in an apartment building with bizarre situations that provoke several unusual supernatural suspense stories. Filmed in Los Angeles, Douglas has the role of Leonard, the manager of this strange apartment building - a position that has put him in dangerous situations that end in tragedy.
Of the film, Douglas said: "Tenants is a film that brings to mind many of the great horror anthologies from the past like Stephen King's Cat's Eye, Twilight Zone: the Movie, and Creepshow. However, Tenants takes a very unique approach in how the stories are all interconnected. That's something that hasn't been done before in this way for an anthology.”
Elsewhere in the indie world, Douglas plays Billy Lachance, the villain in the Canadian feature film Jack Knife, now in post-production. After Billy’s brother is accidentally killed and his drugs are stolen, he embarks on a determined path of revenge.
Filmed in and around Toronto, Jack Knife is a co-production with Adam Jack’s Eat Your Eggs Production and Jason Lumpish & Erica Sherwood’s Jarico films. Multiple award-winning filmmaker Adam Jack (The Lurker, An All-American Fairytale) wrote the screenplay and directed the film. Erica Sherwood (Fight! A Kind of Wonderful Thing) and Douglas star alongside first time teen actors Tivon Charles and Payton Mills.
In Jack Knife, a fun afternoon of fishing turns frightening when a young black brother and sister are attacked in the woods by a drifter. While fighting him off, the brother accidentally kills their would-be molester with a jackknife. The film deals with many of the current race issues in our world and an incredible case of mistaken identity.
Douglas states,” This was a very special film to work on. It was very strong in its portrayal of the racial challenges, stereotypes and misunderstandings that so often happen in our society today."
In the feature Fresh Meat, a group of influencers break into an abandoned prison and release an evil that has intentionally been locked away far from the public and now no one will be safe. Douglas plays Sherriff Bellamy in the film, who is dedicated to keeping the influencers out of the prison and when that fails, he must decide how to contain the evil which has escaped. Produced by Pageman Productions and directed by Daniel Turres the film is currently in post-production. Other actors include Mika Amonsen (Thanksgiving, Impulse, Reacher, Designated Survivor), Jorja Cadence (Priscilla, Reacher, Rabbit Hole, Sex/Life), and Hannah Galway (Sex/Life, Under the Banner of Heaven, Guillermo Del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities).
“Fresh Meat was a very bloody project. It is a project that definitely lives up to the name. What you see on the label is definitely a reflection of what you experience in the project. Fresh Meat is destined to become one of the classics in horror slasher films right up there with Friday the 13th, Halloween and others,” says Douglas.
Also in post-production, Black Creek is a feature directed by Shannon Lanier for the production team of CRRC Productions and the Marlowe-Pugnette Co. Inc. filmed in Tuscan, Arizona. A sheriff's sister seeks revenge against the terrifying leader of a group of outlaws after discovering he brutally murdered her brother, his wife, and other family members in a gritty southwestern town.
Douglas plays Hank Winslow, a slimy corrupt businessman in the town of Black Creek and the right-hand man of the sadistic villain, Damien Sinclair (Richard Norton), who runs the gambling and bare-knuckle-brawling ring of Black Creek. Hank Winslow has a very special and unique position in this martial arts film. He runs the fighting ring and plays a central part in antagonizing the fights.
Martial arts legend Cynthia Rothrock (The Martial Arts Kid, In Search of the Last Action Heroes, Diary of a Lunatic) who has been featured in over 70 films is joined by many legends of the martial arts film world including Don "The Dragon" Wilson (Batman Forever, Ring of Fire), Benny Urquidez (Con Air, Grosse Point Blank, The Contract, 1408), R. Marcus Taylor, (Straight Outta Compton, Baby Driver, Luke Cage) and Keith Cooke (Mortal Kombat, Alita: Battle Angel) in the film.
Not one to slow down, Douglas is in talks with international filmmakers for a number of new feature films in pre-production alongside some very recognizable names - so stay tuned for what’s next for this talented filmmaker.

In 2019, I entered the political realm because I couldn't stand on the sidelines any longer. The detrimental policies of our Governor and Denver Mayor have trickled down, turning Douglas County into a haven for criminals and homeless encampments.
As a fiscally responsible, pro-life, Christian conservative, I champion the principles enshrined in our Constitution. I firmly believe in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all. Limiting government to its proper role fosters stronger economies and empowers citizens.
My straightforward goals include:
- Transparency
- Integrity
- Genuine representation of my community
- Decisions rooted in the Constitution
- Advocacy for our county's interests at the state level
Family is the cornerstone of society and will always be my TOP PRIORITY.
I was born and raised in Nashville and lived there for 23 years until 1999, when I moved to Colorado to marry my incredible husband, Jay.
We have been married for 25 years and I am the proud mother to four beautiful and amazing boys who attend Douglas County public schools. We lost our only daughter to stillbirth in 2007.
We have called Douglas County our home for the last 20 years.

My guest is Ken Lloyd who is a spiritual healer and multi-dimensional traveler who has undergone a unique soul-infusion walk-in event during an NDE, merging 14 soul aspects including his higher-self into a collective in his body. This process has altered his DNA, cellular structure, and etheric energy fields, allowing him to broadcast accelerated ascension frequencies, healing codes, and DNA activation sequences to those in physical proximity and connected to his energy field during live events, recorded playback, and virtual sessions. Ken's field raises one's resonant frequency from their 3D to their 5D harmonic, facilitating rapid healing of the mind, body, and soul. He is known as a multi-dimensional traveler, energetic/psychic healer, Light Language Channeler, Master Activator, Galactic Liaison, and Quantum Blueprint Technician. As a soul braid walk-in originating from the higher realms, Ken's quantum scientist, higher-self occupies his body in concert with his 3D soul version, allowing him to make higher dimensional connections across universes and deliver new spiritual technologies to Earth. Ken possesses a broad range of spiritual skills, including the ability to remove energy blockages causing relationship, financial, and personal growth issues on many levels. He can also identify and stop psychic attacks and provide physical relief and emotional healing by removing trapped energy around areas such as childhood trauma and trapped emotions in the heart. Entity removal, energetic implants removal, and breaking of spiritual contracts that no longer serve individuals are specialties of his. With permission from one's guides, Ken can rewrite soul contracts.

Bonnie accelerates the liberation of our authentic, true, and divine self. She does so by removing and clearing all unwanted foreign energy from the individual, in all time and space, as these interfere with the expression of our divine self.
Everything Bonnie Serratore knows she has learned through direct experience in her own life, as well as from working with her clients and students.
She has not studied or trained with any teachers, living or dead, and does not use spirit guides or any trance-inducing tools – she relies on nothing but her own inner knowing and the energy of the White Light of Creation.
Although she was born with these abilities, she has developed an intimate connection with herself and the Light through her profound personal experiences.
Bonnie lived alone in the desert of Arizona for four years, speaking to almost no one. There she expanded her skills and burned through much of her own interference and ego.
Bonnie has taken personal trips where she studied the energy of the pyramids of Egypt, and the sacred sites throughout Israel.
In these experiences, she cultivated deeper and deeper connections with Source by realizing the true nature of her own divinity.

My name is Dagny Van Der Jagt, and I am running to be the 1st District Attorney for the 23rd Judicial District of Colorado in 2025. With nearly twenty years of legal experience, I am professionally suited for this position. I have served as a deputy District Attorney Criminal Prosecutor, Civil Litigator and Criminal Defense Attorney in this community for many years. As the owner of a small successful Law Firm with multiple attorneys under my command in Castle Rock Colorado, I know how to stick to a budget, count paper clips, and operate a professional and effective organization that is accountable to its customers. I know how to balance life as a homeschooling mother in a demanding career. But most importantly, I know how to organize and live by my allegiances.
I believe in my God over my Nation, meaning I do not compromise my deeply held beliefs. I hold the Constitution as the rigid and firm foundation of all laws. Although I place Liberty above Security and Principles above Party, I recognize Law Enforcement as a necessary guard of Freedom and Property. We must honor our Police who necessarily defend our Liberty through limited use of power. We must be TOUGH & FAIR on Crime.
When a society bends the rules, allows petty criminals to loot private property, and corrupts the political, educational, medical and criminal systems, you have the introduction to Ayn Rand's novel “Atlas Shrugged.” When you introduce Dagny Van Der Jagt, you have a fierce defender of your Constitutional Rights.
My campaign is not born through a list of well known politically entrenched allies. Its genesis is through months of consistent and prayerful thought with my family and friends. I decided to pledge to hold the office of District Attorney as my only political goal, after which, I plan to return to private practice being proud of my service to my community. Through my dedication to this role, I hope to support other like minded elected officials to never compromise on the Constitution and to teach our youth what it means to be civil.
This is a grassroots effort that will take my friends and supporters offering financial and physical support. As I develop my website and other materials, please like and share my messages. If you'd like to help, please reach out to me. Together, we can stop the erosion of our principles and be the shining light on the hill for our neighboring communities.

Reaux Fareal is a 2x National Spoken Word Winner, a published author, a singer with more than 500k streams, a Film Director with a film on Amazon Prime, an Activist, and Motivational Speaker in New Orleans, LA.
A Louisiana native and resident, Reaux Fareal, is multi-talented with a professional career beginning at age 7.
He began writing Kid’s Korner in the Monroe Free Press and earned $10 per week for his published articles sharing a kid’s perspective on social events and politics. By 13, he had become so popular in North Louisiana that he emerged into radio, becoming the youngest employed radio personality in Louisiana history.
Since his childhood, Reaux has been a public figure in the Louisiana/Texas region. In 2001, He founded Amps Magazine and franchised it in 7 other cities before selling it. He was a founding partner of the Congo TV Network in 2017.
He has recorded more than 10 Spoken Word Albums, 2 Spiritual Albums, and 4 R&B projects.
Reaux played a role on the HBO series, Treme, and he has also been featured on Fox Sports, MTV, TBN, and Congo TV Network. He wrote, directed, and starred in Get The Ring, now playing on Amazon Prime.
As an Author, most of his books are published under his birth name (Ro Wright). Even though he has self published five books, it's the fifth book that received the greatest notoriety. The People Next Door, a fictional novel won him Fiction Book of the Year at the annual ULM Book Club at University of Louisiana at Monroe. The book has also been featured at Dillard University, more than 10 high schools, and numerous churches around the country.
In 2008, Reaux recognized the effects of Vitiligo on his skin. Like many who are afflicted with the unusual skin condition, he threw himself into a long depression. The spots varied on his body, and they were never consistent. They’d appear and disappear at random times. It made Reaux learn more about the Vitiligo community and he has actually spoken in many forums about ‘Living With Vitiligo’.
Growing up in the South as a “PK”, he was introduced to religion at an early age. He was a Louisiana State Leader in the Baptist Youth Encampment, which housed more than 2k kids on the campus of Southern University every Summer. Becoming interested in how ministry could be a tool to reach youth through Hip Hop, he went to a small seminary led by the Dr. Larry Hood. Reaux quickly learned religion could not hold his attention, but it led him to becoming more Spiritual than he had ever been in his life. He led two outreach ministries, one in Shreveport and in New Orleans, hoping to empower the difference between Religion and Spirituality before ultimately resigning from ministry altogether.
“I feel I am more effective using my gifts to bridge racial gaps, empowering others through my books, and connecting people through my music and many creative abilities.”
Reaux’s Parlay Company makes clothing for his staple brand, Parlay. His son, Cadence, is being groomed to manage The Parlay Clothing Co. However, Parlay is more credible for its charitable efforts through the Parlay Foundation. The group organized a social media campaign during Covid to provide financial aid for HBCU students. “I Got 5 On It Fridays” challenged people to donate $5 every Friday to help HBCU students. The Parlay Foundation was able to help over 50 students pay off tuition debt, raising more than $25k in its first year. Reaux, who attended Southern University in Baton Rouge while in college, is an outspoken advocate for Historically Black Collages and Universities.
Born Roosevelt Wright (Ro Wright), he uses Reaux Fareal as his moniker because it connects him to his Louisiana roots and reminds him to always be himself… unapologetically.
Reaux has publicly stated his greatest honor is being the father of three sons. Cadence, Ethan, and Caleb, the Godson that he always claims as his own.
