Jelani Jenkins is a 2009 Watkins Award Honoree from Silver Spring, Maryland aka the DMV.  He played in the Maryland Little League for Wheaton and the Maplewood programs in Montgomery County. In high school, Jelani played football for Our Lady of Good Counsel. He received numerous honors including Parade Magazine High School All-American and being selected to play in the Under Armor Game. His most notable award in high school was the Districts Pigskin Club in which Jelani was the first player in the 71 year history of that award to earn the Defensive Player of the Year and Scholar Athlete of the Year.  Jelani had over 40 offers to major D1 Schools which he ultimately chose The University of Florida.  He established himself in the SEC as one of college football's best outside linebackers and separated himself by his high academic accomplishments in the classroom. In 2013, Jelani was selected in the 4th round of the NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. He quickly became one of the best defensive players in the NFL (110 Tackles, 3.5 Sacks).

Verda Tetteh is a Massachusetts high school student who made an unexpected announcement during her graduation ceremony last week when she asked that a $40,000 scholarship awarded to her be given to a student attending community college instead. Verda is 17 and plans to study biochemistry at Harvard College in the fall. During the impromptu speech, Tetteh told the crowd that she was inspired by her mother, who had attended community college.Rosemary Annan, Tetteh's mother, had immigrated from Ghana, before having Tetteh in the United Kingdom. She currently works two jobs, including an overnight shift at a group home.

West Coast, Country and Americana Rock music crossover legend Walter Egan has released his new album “Fascination” which features thirteen West Coast Rock/Americana influenced tracks all inspired by Walter Egan’s shared history with legendary Super-Groupie Pamela Des Barres. The first single from the album “Miss Pamela” was released in February.

With a mostly undocumented illustrious back story in the music business, Walter Egan wrote “Hearts On Fire” for Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris and achieved chart success with his solo albums “Fundamental Roll” and “Not Shy” which were both produced by his good friend Lindsay Buckingham and with Stevie Nicks singing, particularly on his hit single “Magnet And Steel”.

Walter had further hit singles with “Full Moon Fire”, “Only The Lucky” and “Hot Summer Nights” which Eminem sampled on his “We Made You” release.

Given his impeccable musical pedigree, Walter naturally fell in with the LA Country-Rock scene playing with Don Henley, Glen Frey, Linda Ronstadt, Chris Darrow, David Lindley, Jules Shear, and Jackson Browne and within two years, through a hot night at the Troubadour, he secured a record deal from United Artists records in England. This soon manifested into a six-album deal with Columbia Records US & Worldwide.

Egan and his band have toured extensively sharing the bill with many legendary bands including AC/DC, Fleetwood Mac, Procol Harum, The Beach Boys, Foreigner, Heart, Kansas, Dave Mason, and Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers.

Walter has played and recorded with Sageworth, Jackson Browne, Kelsea Ballerini, Randy California’s Spirit, Wanda Jackson, Chris Darrow, The Flying Burrito Brothers and The Malibooz.

Michael Goddart, MFA, is the author of In Search of Lost Lives: Desire, Sanskaras, and the Evolution of a Mind&Soul, a winner of the American Book Fest Best Book Award, the Living Now Book Award, the Body Mind Spirit Book Award, and the National Indie Excellence Award.



Soon after his family moved from Illinois to California when he was 10 years old, Michael started actively searching for the truth about death and how to attain true immortality with everlasting bliss. He began daily meditation at age 19, and at 21 began to meditate for over two hours daily. For more than three decades, he has also been actively developing his sense of knowing and accessing his higher consciousness.
