Dawna Stone is an author, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and health, fitness and wellness expert. Through her new book, Healthy You! 14 Days to Quick and Permanent Weight Loss and a Healthier, Happier You, as well as frequent local and national television, radio and speaking appearances, Dawna serves as a role model and inspiration to men and women everywhere.

As founder of Women’s Running magazine and the Women’s Half Marathon series, Dawna has helped thousands lead healthier lives. She has also served as a celebrity spokesperson for the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign and contributed health and wellness articles to numerous newspapers and magazines.

In 2005, Dawna appeared on and won NBC’s “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart”. She spent the following year working closely with Martha Stewart developing a variety of projects for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia including Body+Soul magazine (now Whole Living).

Dawna has appeared regularly on television series like “The Today Show” and “MARTHA”, channels like MSNBC and morning news programs on all four of the big networks— NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox. She also hosted her own show on Sirius Satellite Radio called “Health and Fitness Talk with Dawna Stone” as well as a regular television segment on Fox called “Healthy Living with Dawna Stone.”

Dawna launched the award-winning national magazine, Women’s Running, in 2004 and the Women’s Half Marathon series in 2009. She sold both companies to the industry leader in 2012. Previous to launching the magazine, Dawna’s professional experience included:

  • Chief Marketing Officer for a $700-million publicly traded company, directing the marketing activities for more than 68 locations nationwide.
  • Senior Vice President of the Active Sports Network, initially a 200-person dot-com company that is thriving today with more than 2,500 employees
  • President and General Manager of PR*Nutrition, a $20-million sports nutrition company
  • Strategy Consultant for Deloitte Consulting where she advised senior level executives at Fortune 500 companies
  • Financial Analyst for Wall Street investment bank, Morgan Stanley

Dawna earned her B.S. from the University of California, Berkeley, and her MBA from the Anderson School at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is an avid runner and Ironman triathlete. She lives in St. Petersburg, FL with her husband, five-year-old daughter, four-year-old son and dog.

Barbara Abercrombie has published novels, children’s picture books, including the award winning Charlie Anderson, and books of non-fiction. Her personal essays have appeared in national publications as well as in many anthologies. Her most recent books are Courage & Craft: Writing Your Life Into Story and Cherished: 21 Writers on Animals They’ve Loved & Lost. Her latest writing book, A Year of Writing Dangerously, was just published by New World Library, and chosen by Poets & Writers Magazine as one of the best books for writers. In 2013 NWL will published her fifteenth book, Kicking In The Wall. She’s received the Outstanding Instructor award and the Distinguished Instructor Award at UCLA Extension where she teaches creative writing.

She lives with her husband, Robert V. Adams, and their rescue dog, Nelson, in Santa Monica and Lake Arrowhead, California.

PERSONAL — Born Daniel LaVance Barkley on Aug. 10, 1988 in Ballard, Wash. Parents: Sean and Denise Boyd. Family: Two brothers. High School (Coach): Clover Park (John Randall) 2006. Major: Sports Marketing.

2007 — Appeared in reserve three times, including a season-high nine plays vs. Washington State where he ran a reverse for eight yards. Saw first collegiate action vs. Fresno State, playing four snaps, and was on the field for three plays during the Sun Bowl.

2006 — Redshirt season saw him earn special teams scout player of the week honors leading up to the game at USC.

HIGH SCHOOL — Played for John Randall at Clover Park in Lakewood, Wash., and considered Cal, Stanford and Washington before walking on at Oregon. An all-Cascade League selection as a senior, he was rated a two-star recruit by Scout.com.

Daniel currently lives in Seattle and works at the University of Washington.

Former Husky Greg Lewis is the Senior Director of Advancement for Minority Affairs & Diversity at the University of Washington.

Lewis made a name for himself as a star tailback at Washington from 1987 to 1990. As a senior, he rushed for 1,279 yards, a school record at the time, and earned Pac-10 Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors. Lewis was also lauded with the inaugural Doak Walker Award, given to the nation's top junior or senior running back, and finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy voting, the highest finish ever for a Husky offensive player.

After he finished his college career, Lewis spent two seasons with the Denver Broncos before returning to complete his degree in political science from UW in 1993.

He has two daughters, Briana and Janee.
