'CELEBRATIONG 50 YEARS OF FUNK'

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW!

Originating from Flint, Michigan in 1969, this top selling American rock group of the 70’s is “COMIN’ TO YOUR TOWN TO HELP YOU PARTY IT DOWN”.  Grand Funk Railroad is extremely excited to be touring in 2019 marking a 50-year milestone. After playing to millions of fans on the band’s tours from 1996 to 2018, Grand Funk’s 2019 American Band Tour will continue to reach both new and long-time fans.

Known as “The American Band”, the high-energy five-piece group will play forty shows all over the USA this year. Grand Funk Railroad includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums, writer and singer of the multi-million selling hit, We’re an American Band) and bassist Mel Schacher, “The God of Thunder.” Joining Don and Mel are true “All Stars.” Singer Max Carl is a rock veteran from 38 Special. Max penned and sang 38’s biggest hit “Second Chance” and was co-founder of California’s legendary Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. Don refers to Max as “the best blue-eyed soul singer on the planet. Lead guitarist Bruce Kulick is best known for his 12 years with KISS and has credits with Michael Bolton, Meatloaf and Billy Squier. (KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were influenced early on by Grand Funk.) Keyboardist Tim Cashion has a master’s degree in music from the University of Miami. Affectionately called “Dr. Tim”, his credits include stints with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and English soul man Robert Palmer.

Grand Funk laid the groundwork for such bands as Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi with its signature hard driving sound, soulful vocals, muscular instrumentation and forceful pop melodies. The fact that Grand Funk’s legacy still reigns over the Classic Rock landscape fifty years after its 1969 birth in Flint, Michigan is a testament to the group’s influence and staying power. Mega-hits We’re an American Band, I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home, Locomotion, and Some Kind of Wonderful still receive continuous airplay on Classic Rock radio.

Internationally acclaimed Grand Funk has toured the world, selling out in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan and South America. A 1971 performance at New York’s Shea Stadium sold out faster than the Beatles. The group’s widespread appeal is also evident in its prestigious recording achievements. Over their career, Grand Funk has had 19 charted singles, 8 Top 40 hits and two Number One singles (We’re an American Band and Locomotion, both selling more than one million each). The group has now accumulated 13 gold and 10 platinum records with record sales exceeding 25 million copies sold worldwide. The most recent gold CD award was presented to the band for their greatest hits package Grand Funk Railroad the Collectors Series.

Grand Funk’s 2018 tour was a huge success and now, with the group’s 2019 American Band Tour, seasoned Grand Funk lovers and contemporary rock fans discovering the group for the first time will be able to celebrate 50 Years of Funk with GRAND FUNK RAILROAD!

Guest Occupation: Anti-aging Specialist & Medical Director Riobe Institute of Integrative Medicine
Guest Biography:

With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Riobe has developed a ground-breaking technique to preventing disease and treating illness by fusing Eastern and Western medicines. The dynamic, customized approach is effective and safe. She has helped 1000s of patients overcome debilitating symptoms and difficult illnesses by addressing the root causes, not just masking the symptoms.

A graduate of Columbia College of Columbia University in New York City, where she grew up, Dr. Riobe later obtained her medical degree at New York Medical College and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Medical College of Pennsylvania and the University of South Carolina. She learned conventional medical practices that she used for four years following her graduation and board certification in OB/GYN. Dr. Riobe grew increasingly frustrated with the “cookie-cutter” Western medicine that she had learned and practiced. Although Western medicine serves its purpose for acute, life-threatening conditions, the Doctor felt that patients who suffered from chronic conditions such as fatigue, poor sleep, low sex drive, and obesity often did not find relief from the prescriptions and advice given.

As a child, Dr. Riobe learned holistic healing methods from her grandmother. These methods, learned from someone she trusted and loved, planted her passion to treat her patients in a more holistic fashion.

She allowed her passion to treat the root cause of a problem to lead her to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Integrative Medicine, and Functional Medicine, eventually mastering these Eastern and fused methodologies.

She received her degrees in TCM and functional, integrative medicine at The Academy of Pain Research, a University of California, Irvine-affiliated institution as well as at The University of Miami, and through The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine in Boca Raton, Florida.

Dr. Riobe incorporates these three disciplines into her practice to provide an integrative, customized approach combining leading-edge modern medical testing and technology with time-tested energy-based methods of TCM.

In her books, The Tao of Integrative Medicine and The Answer to Cancer, she makes sense out of the chaos that is our current health crisis and sets a path to prevention of diseases such as cancer as practiced at The Riobe Institute. The Riobe Method also provides effective treatment of chronic symptoms and conditions after they take hold.

Guest Occupation: Speaker Author Psychotherapist
Guest Biography:

Claiming the fullness of your leadership requires recognizing and challenging the stories you tell yourself about both you and about the world itself. Nobody knows that better than Dr. Dorothy. From an orphanage, through growing up in the housing projects of South Boston, becoming a Catholic nun, an international airline stewardess, a mother, divorcee, psychotherapist, adjunct graduate faculty, a clinical instructor at UConn Medical School, a pioneer in integrative health, founding 4 companies, and moving to the Caribbean for almost 10 years, an author, and an Executive Leadership Coach/Consultant she has confronted her stories and the need for taking risks in order to grow like few others.

Dorothy’s personal journey in Spiritual Growth as well her understanding of the interconnectedness of Emotional Intelligence with Spiritual Development brings a multi-dimensional approach to her work, a work she loves. Having founded a school, The Institute of Healing Arts and Sciences, with 2 and 4 yr. programs which focused on a method of Energy Medicine she developed specializing in the psycho/spiritual correlates of physical disease and disorders, her work required her students, many of whom were physicians and varied other medical practitioners, to look at the need for depths of self-awareness and the ability to see themselves objectively, without judgment, and with unconditional love. That is the sole way of having truly in-depth healing and unlimited potential in claiming your leadership and changing the world.

A moniker her students gave her, the Dottie Lama, demonstrated the power she possessed to support their personal growth, with humor and faith, while she showed them a world, and a life, they never knew they could create. Dorothy is an example of what she teaches. Having once been told she was not qualified for nursing school because she attended an unaccredited inner-city high school, she has recently been asked to head the Health Committee of a UN Global Summit on Conscious Capitalism, where, as a leader in her field, she will speak of the need to bring heart, soul, and humanity into healthcare.

Dr. Dorothy has shown that leadership, to be effective, must have impact and that the level of impact you want to have requires an equal level of personal growth and transformation. Dr. Dorothy is a member of the National Speakers Association and Past-President of the Connecticut chapter of NSA. As a best-selling author, her newest book, Real Women Change The World (releasing on March 8th on International Women's Day 2019), addresses just that.

Graduating high school as an Eagle Scout and National Merit Scholar, I was educated at Stanford (Biological Sciences, with graduate courses in immunology, biochemistry, and pharmacology), Case Western Reserve (Medical), and the Florida Institute of Technology Medical Research Institute (Preventive Medicine). I received graduate training in general and urological surgery (San Francisco and University of Texas/Houston). I chose to start a general practice of medicine in Humble, next to the Bush Intercontinental Airport, in 1978. Since then, my post-graduate training has been extensive and expansive, and I’m recognized internationally as an expert in several advanced anti-aging/longevity treatment strategies. Just for fun, I served as a Senior Aviation Medical Examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration and as the chief medical consultant to Texas International Airlines, which bought and merged into Continental Airlines.

A Bantam Books bestselling author, I’ve written several popular books and articles on The Yeast Syndrome, toxic heavy metals and chronic illness, heart disease, and arthritis treatments. I have been recognized as a specialist in hormones and longevity medicine by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, in heavy metal toxicology by the American Board of Clinical Metal Toxicology, and in arthritis and pain medicine by the American Board of Biological Reconstructive Medicine. For my long service in the advancement of safe and effective health technologies, in 2008 I was knighted in the Sovereign Medical Order of the Knights of Hope.

My passion is finding solutions for chronic conditions that take people out of their lives, that cause disability and discomfort, that make life less worth living. Over the past 30+ years, I have developed and refined elegant hormonal, nutritional, metabolic, and other treatment programs that have resurrected their vitality, comfort, activity, and appearance for thousands of patients.
