Michael J. Meighen, MD

My Story, My Life, and My Passion

My name is Dr. Michael Meighen and I am a musculoskeletal expert and health optimization specialist focused on total transformation of my clients.  My treatment plans primarily concentrate on conservative and non-operative measures to help the individual improve their function, pain control, mobility, and longevity.    I use evidence-based interventions to restore, regenerate, and rejuvenate the client allowing them to live a limitless life.  I employ proactive approaches including fitness and strength training, mindbody techniques, hormone optimization, regenerative interventional orthopedic medicine, peptides, epigenetic testing, sexual health interventions, and aesthetic procedures to maximize healthspan and vitality. I am confident that the client will progress and evolve if they are accountable and embrace the process .  It is my professional opinion that the client must become comfortable with being uncomfortable and be willing to push the limits of precision medicine to become a super being.

My journey towards a sports medicine and a musculoskeletal career started when I was thirteen years old.  I was playing varsity football in eighth grade as a wide receiver.  The week before I had scored my first touchdown so I was high on life.  We were scrimmaging the junior varsity the following week in preparation for the next game.  I ran my route and went up for a pass and felt something explode in my leg.  One of the defensive backs had hit me in the right lower extremity fracturing my tibia and fibula.  I was placed into a cast and had two subsequent surgeries as a result of the injury.  This incident however was actually a blessing as it introduced me to the world of orthopedics, sports medicine, physical therapy, and functional restoration.  I had a keen interest in science and biology prior to this trauma, but this experience helped to clarify my calling and direct me on my current career path which I love.  This insult allowed me to embrace adversity and taught me important life lessons at an early age about dealing with challenges.

I grew up in a small town called Mogadore located outside of Akron in NorthEast Ohio. This was a close-knit community with competitive academic and athletic programs. This upbringing instilled in me a strong work ethic and fostered my passion for exercise and health. I graduated from the University of Toledo with a BA in Biology. During my junior year, I studied abroad in Manchester, England at the University of Salford which provided me insight into an alternative culture and health care system. I then enrolled at the University of Akron where I completed a year of Master’s studies in Sports Medicine. I next graduated from the University of Cincinnati with my medical degree with a goal of working in the orthopedic and musculoskeletal field. To meet these ends, I completed my Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at Carolinas Medical Center/Charlotte Rehabilitation in Charlotte, NC. I then moved on to the University of Florida where I completed a fellowship in sports, spine, and occupational rehabilitation medicine under the tutelage of James Atchison, DO.

My training, course work, and constant thirst for knowledge has provided me with valuable insights into the management of musculoskeletal problems. I possess extensive experience and expertise in the treatment of spine, joint, nerve, and soft tissue abnormalities. I have a passion for the field, and I employ a multimodal approach using new and cutting edge techniques to solve pain problems. I am well versed in the following interventions to help diagnose and treat musculoskeletal disorders: fluoroscopically guided spine and joint procedures, diagnostic and interventional ultrasound, electrodiagnostics (EMG/NCS), osteopathic manipulation, and regenerative procedures including prolotherapy, platelet rich plasma (PRP), and stem cells. I  also have specialized training in bio-identical hormone replacement, peptide therapies, epigenetics, functional medicine, and wellness.

I have captured all of my goals, philosophies, visions, and plans in my #1 best selling book on Amazon called A New You: Using the Body’s Regenerative and Restorative Healing Powers to Optimize Orthopedic, Hormonal, and Sexual Health Function. I continue to learn, grow, and expand via personal coaching and masterminds.  I seek out elite people and immerse myself in their courses, books, and live trainings.  I have worked with Mike Koenigs and Ed Rush; two entrepreneurs and advisers who have helped me with focus and mind expansion.  I have earned a certification as a Kion coach through KionU run by Ben Greenfield who is one of the gurus of biohacking and health optimization.  I have completed bioidentical hormone training through World Link Medical and Dr. Neal Rouzier who is one of the pioneers in the field.  I am currently working with Dr. Daniel Stickler with the Apeiron Academy.  I have received a Peptide Medicine Certification and I am in the midst of completing level one Epigenetic certification.  Learning is a lifetime commitment and one of the main reasons I continue to evolve, transform, and progress.

I am many things to many people and I wear multiple hats throughout the day.  I am a doctor/teacher/colleague/author/speaker/innovator/health optimizer/interventional orthopedic and regenerative medicine specialist/physiatrist/athlete/father/student/patient/healthcare disruptor/musculoskeletal expert/aesthetics and sexual health artiste/brother/healer/hormone expert/uncle/men’s health expert/precision medicine professional/reader/peptide aficionado/ and an American.  I cherish all of these roles and each one of them define a piece of my soul.  In my opinion, the true measure of a person is not in what you possess, but in what you share.  I want to use my gifts to impact and help as many people as possible in my time on this planet.  My goal is to resolve pain points in each of my clients, thus allowing them to become human “beings” instead of human “doings.”  My mantra in life is that if you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.  I will always strive to be that solution.
