Mika Douglas is retired and is living in Renaca, Chile, a small beach community along the central Chilean coast, 180 kilometers from Santiago. Mika left the USA 7 years ago and has lived abroad with her husband, on the beaches in Southern Thailand and Bangkok. “Our objective was to live more simply and leave behind the everyday complexities inherent with living in North America. Mission accomplished.” Now she is involved in ChileRetirement.com, a startup business that helps people retire to Chile by providing them assistance with immigration, healthcare, housing, language, and getting settled into a new culture. As we have experienced, having someone who can help with the myriad of questions and issues that arise with relocation, makes a huge difference in achieving a new “quality of life”. Formerly, Mika spent over thirty years working for “Corporate America” in Strategic Planning, Marketing and the Sales of products and services throughout Scandinavia, Europe and the Pacific Rim.
Bobby Anderson has had a long and successful career in working with Government and the Private Sector. He has primarily been a business consultant and business owner where he managed projects that supported rights of workers in California. His emphasis has always been working with health and human services organizations. His sensitivities run contrary to most business owners that put profit before serving the community. His philosophy of life is very counter intuitive in that he believes serving others will ultimately provide him with the happiness we all so aspire to.
Louie Bernstein is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area specializing in Couples and Relationship Counseling. Using an integrative and holistic approach, he draws from the best of the relationship and psychological philosophies, including: Object-Relations theory, Harville Hendrix’ Imago Therapy and Dr. John Gottman’s Couples research in assisting individuals and couples in creating healthy, supportive and fulfilling relationships. Personally inspired by the miracle and perfection of nature’s hand in guiding the growth of a living system such as an abundant fruit tree, Louie has developed a unique approach to show couples how to “grow their own great relationship” by aligning with and embracing those same growing principles that Nature uses in growing that great fruit tree from tiny seed to full fruition. Dan Cunningham has more than 25 years of experience as a financial controller and CFO having worked for a variety of companies both large and small. Dan started his career in finance and accounting with Marriott, Inc. He has worked in the gaming, mortgage and restaurant industries. He served as the Controller for Stuart Anderson’s Black Angus Restaurants which at the time had over 100 restaurants across the country. Prior to starting his own accounting and tax practice, Dan was the Chief Financial Officer for Team San Jose, the company that operated the San Jose Convention Center and the surrounding theaters. Dan’s business specializes in helping the small business owner manage their financial health and focus on realizing the business owner’s goals. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Masters in Business Administration from California State University, Long Beach.
Sherri Stoneberger's life's meaning and direction have always been defined by helping family and others. Originating from a Danish immigrant family of 14 children in a small farm town in Oklahoma, Sherri Stoneberger dreamed of having a better life than the struggling farm life of her parents. She pursued a Bachelor's degree at the University of Central Oklahoma and later studied Educational Psychology at California State University East Bay. She married an Air Force officer and became a young mother of a treasured son Mark. Her family was soon transferred to Honolulu, Hawaii, where she welcomed a beautiful daughter Melissa to the world. Eighteen months later, the direction of her journey changed forever with Melissa's diagnosis of brain cancer. Sherri's never-give-up attitude determined how she shaped her life during this period. When doctor's said there was no hope , Sherri committed to a different reality that there was and she raised her daughter with that philosophy. Sherri took her experience and background to purse a Real Estate Executive career 28 years ago to accommodate a flexible schedule of doctor's appointments and continuing treatments for Melissa. She flourished in meeting the needs of other families and providing a wonderful environment for her daughter and family.
Dean Adams is a Documentary filmmaker, with a committed interest in using film – the stories we tell- to heal the world. Trust me when I tell you that Dean Adams in unique; he is on a mission to facilitate this growth into heart consciousness. Dean is a cinematographer whose work has been showcased in documentaries for the BBC, ABC News, France 24, Arte Reportage, PBS and the Discovery Channel. In 2008, he was awarded a Media Excellence Award from the International Association of Broadcasters; his half-hour film was nominated for best documentary at the Bayeux-Calvados Prize for War Correspondence. In addition to making his own films, Dean has established himself as a master trainer, running video journalism intensives for the BBC, TV4 Stockholm and RTL Germany. But it was his filmmaking workshops with refugees and underground Burmese journalists, and his contributions to the 2010 Oscar nominated documentary, Burma VJ, that opened his eyes to the empowering nature of documentary filmmaking. In 2012, Dean was recruited as part of the management team tasked with creating the Documentary Unit at the new Qatar TV. He continues his duties to the channel as Deputy Editor-In-Chief and Senior Reporter, launching new series and directing half-hour documentaries. Dean has started a grass-roots movement where Social Media and Technology intersect – this is his initiation of “10-HOPE-FILMS”. Dean's future goal is to create character-driven stories from the trenches of human ingenuity, about visionaries who are leading the mantle for change in the environment, education, public health, politics, religion and science.
