Paradigm Shifters presents Judy Carroll

This week on Paradigm Shifters:

Paradigm Shifters asks, "do you want to be a Galactic citizen?" Judy Carroll has some keys to how to get there! Author of Human by Day and Zeta by Night. We last spoke to Judy on this show some years ago when her book was first published. Her latest offering is Extraterestrial Pesence On Earth: Lessons of History. Judy calmly makes sense of her "fused" self, that of a human woman and a Zeta, a Grey, here to help awaken humanity to the gifts of the ET cultures. We are in the process of unlimiting ourselves as a species. But what has limited us? And why?

You'll be enticed by Judy's approach of in depth weaving earth history with some universal actions and some of the goals we share with our ET
friends.

A Message from Veronica --

Hello Everyone,

Let's look at Jane Goodall for inspiration. Women who stride forward politically, like Elizabeth Warren, or Nancy Pelosi, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Eleanor Roosevelt, Amma, the list is huge.... authors, saints, artists, leaders in education and consciousness, music and more and more and more. They are often hardly recognized though they literally put hearts into a life that makes a pulse grow in the awakening of humanity, a difference, or expresses.

I contemplate how "nurturing" is often underrated. Yet we know that LOVE is the most powerful creative tool we have. My Guides always remind us that "love is fierce!" It cultivates gardens, hearts, minds, societies, and more. Around Mother's Day let's focus on what nurtures you or has nurtured your greatness, your gifts in the world. A great meditation. And thank you for the nurturing you do!

Maybe it is time for your session. And do let me know how you enjoy Judy Carroll.

Much love

TALKS ABOUT TOURING WITH THE BEATLES

Don Dannemann and Mike Losekamp, two original members of the 60’s pop music group The Cyrkle, best known for the hit songs Red Rubber Ball and Turn Down Day, have reunited, added a few new members, and reinvented themselves around the 50th anniversary of the band’s success.

Named The Cyrkle by John Lennon himself and managed by none other than Brian Epstein, they were The Beatles opening act on 18 tour dates including August 23, 1966 at Shea Stadium, and August 29, 1966, for The Beatles’ famous final concert at Candlestick Park.

In 1966, the band released two Billboard hit songs. “Red Rubber Ball” went gold, selling over one million copies.  The follow up single, “Turn Down Day” was a solid hit as well, becoming their second Top 20 song of the year.

Coupling extraordinary musical talent and classic hit songs, The Cyrkle promises to electrify fans today just as they did when they were the opening act for The Beatles!

Life Changes Show Guest, Steve Taylor May 18, 2020
Singer, Songwriter, Multi-instrumentalist

STEVE TAYLOR

With a sound steeped in the sunlit tones of Laurel Canyon, the mid 60’s pop and R&B of the Brill Building, and the lo-fi synths of early prog rock, Los Angeles resident Steve Taylor makes cinematic, impressionistic psych-folk that pushes the envelope of the singer/songwriter genre. A multi-instrumentalist with a remarkably diverse background, he’s been tapped to play with everyone from LA electro soul group Rhye to bass prodigy Tal Wilkenfeld. He’s steadily recorded his new opus, “The Land of Milk and Honey”, in between international tours and recording gigs. A sparse, moody, and soulful record, it is full of ruminations on the search for an idyllic paradise amidst the chaos and loneliness of modern day life. Sonically, you will find layers of vintage organs, pianos, analog synthesizers, and dead drums, creating a sound that’s both modern and thoroughly informed by 70’s AM rock.

Influenced by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Nick Drake, and Joni Mitchell, his last album “Has the Size of the Road Got the Better of You?” was recorded at home and at the venerable Tiny Telephone Studio in San Francisco. The record showed the expanded influence of gospel music, something he explored while he was a guitarist and organist at a number of prominent African American congregations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Performing solo and with his band, Steve has played hundreds of shows, including headlining slots at The Independent and The Chapel in San Francisco, The Echo and The Hotel Café in LA, and The Hope & Anchor in London. An avid busker, he has made many fans the old fashioned way, through singing his heart out and pounding out his songs on his portable Helpinstill piano, an electrified acoustic remnant from the 70’s.

In addition to being an active solo artist, Steve has played as a singer, keyboardist and guitarist with an incredibly diverse range of collaborators, including Rhye, Skylar Grey, Lauren Ruth Ward, Duane Betts, Rogue Wave, Nicki Bluhm, and members of the Grateful Dead, CAN, Guns n Roses, The Edwin Hawkins Singers, Deathcab for Cutie, and The Dirty Projectors.

“Steve Taylor’s dreamy, folky, solo songs recall a long lost time… resonate with sun-flared AM radio gold of the early 1970s as vintage tones warble from an old Wurlitzer while acoustic six-strings intertwine with the watery notes of a lazy electric slide guitar under Taylor crooning like a young Graham Nash.” – iTunes

Shadow Politics Guest, Brooke Pinto May 17, 2020
Running for DC Council in Ward 2

I am running for DC Council because I believe we deserve a leader who we can trust to serve Ward 2 with integrity and transparency.

For the last two years, I have been working on behalf of District residents as the Assistant Attorney General for Policy and Legislative Affairs for the District of Columbia.  I saw how LGBTQQIA+ victims of hate crimes were left without protection or recourse in the wake of their attacks. I learned how our small business community was being taken advantage of by out of state businesses defrauding our CBE program. And, I represented DC before the National Attorney General community to advocate for statehood, decriminalized cannabis, and data privacy legislation.

To address the needs of our community, I worked to advance workers’ rights, improve environmental justice, and expand civil rights and consumer protections through everything from data breach to hate crime legislation.

I grew up in Connecticut and I am the youngest of three siblings. I attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and earned my undergraduate degree in Business & Hospitality Administration. I then went on to work at a senior living community in New York where I found myself frequently feeling frustrated on behalf of my clients as I helped them navigate through their healthcare options.  This led me to pursue a law degree at the Georgetown University Law Center.

During law school, I served as the Executive Articles Editor for the Journal on Poverty and Public Policy and volunteered at the Landlord Tenant Resource center providing advice to displaced tenants and aggravated landlords. I then advocated for seniors and advanced women’s health issues on Capitol Hill for Senator Blumenthal as his Health and Aging Fellow.

Knowing that I wanted to commit my career to public service, I joined the DC OAG, where I practiced law in our Tax and Finance group litigating cases on behalf of the DC Office of Tax and Revenue. I then moved on to work for Attorney General Racine on Policy, Legislative Affairs, and Legal matters where I was able to work on a broad array of issues plaguing our city.

I am deeply committed to serving the residents of DC and I want to ensure that Ward 2 has a representative on the Council whom they can trust — not only to operate ethically, but also to ensure the issues that matter most are addressed.

Through my experience representing DC residents, I was consistently inspired and impressed our community members’ commitment to equity and advancing justice. We have a lot to be proud of and a lot to work on. I want to be a partner in and advocate for that work.

I felt inspired to get in this race and ensure that an honest, fair, and devoted advocate is at the table. I would be honored and humbled to have your support.
