The Watkins Award
The Watkins Award has established itself as the nation’s premier award for African American male high school seniors who represent the highest achievement in academics and athletics. The Award is emblematic of an extraordinary athlete, a bonafide scholar, and a person who has been recognized by prominent people in his community as a leader, volunteer, and community advocate.
Guest, Mohamed Massaquoi
Mohamed Massaquoi is a 2005 Watkins Award Honoree. He was a 5Star receiver who racked up enough awards and State Championships to be considered one of North Carolina's high school top receivers of all time. Mohamed went on to play college football and graduate from the University of Georgia. He's also a graduate of the Harvard MBA Executive Program. While at Georgia, Mohamed was First Team All-SEC and SEC All Academic. He was drafted in the second round by the Cleveland Browns. Mohamed played for several teams prior to his retirement and career as a dynamic speaker and successful entrepreneur.
