Robert John Langdon was confronted with an anomalous carbon-dating result of Stonehenge, which allowed him to look at the megalithic monument with new eyes. The end result was a total re-dating of this and several other nearby monuments, including Avebury, going back to 8000 BC. Langdon realized the purpose of Stonehenge was radically different than believed though his reinterpretation is totally supported by the available archaeological evidence. But, above all, he realized that the landscape in which Stonehenge was built, looked totally different from what we see today.
