Interviewing The Legends Guest, Joe Louis Walker August 11, 2020
Legendary Blues Guitarist-Singer-Songwriter-Producer

J  O  E

L  O  U  I  S

W  A  L  K  E  R

LEGENDARY BLUES GUITARIST/SINGER/SONGWRITER/PRODUCER

NEW RELEASE

B L U E S   C O M I N'   O N

with all-star cast of musicians

Joe Louis Walker picked up the guitar as a child, and by the time he was 16, was an in-demand musician on the local club scene, regularly backing touring blues artists rolling through town. As a 16-year-old, he was the house guitarist at San Francisco’s famed musical playground, The Matrix, where he played with or opened shows for everyone from Lightnin’ Hopkins to Jimi Hendrix to Thelonious Monk. In addition to his work at The Matrix, he was a regular at Bill Graham’s famed Fillmore West. San Francisco’s music scene was quickly becoming a melting pot of blues, jazz and psychedelic rock, and Walker was right in the center of it. These ear-opening surroundings explain the ease with which Walker blends blues, rock, gospel, jazz and country, making it seem as if the walls between the genres never existed in the first place.

The blues legends Walker accompanied shared not only musical knowledge but also their personal wisdom with the teenage up-and-comer. Fred McDowell, Ike Turner, Albert King, Freddie King, Robert Jr. Lockwood, Lightnin’ Hopkins and many others taught, fed and chastised the youngster. Blues icon Willie Dixon told him to set his sights high. “What’s your style? You need your own sound,” Dixon preached. Walker took the advice to heart and developed his own fiery, melodic and always unpredictable guitar attack.

Walker met legendary guitarist Michael Bloomfield in 1968 and the two became fast friends. Bloomfield introduced Walker to many of the day’s top rockers, including Sly Stone, Carlos Santana, Steve Miller, Bob Weir (of the Grateful Dead), Jorma Kaukonen (of Jefferson Airplane) and even jazz legend Wayne Shorter. Bloomfield helped push Walker’s blues in a more rock-fueled direction, and he became the single biggest influence on the young Walker’s sound. The two shared an apartment for years and remained close friends until Bloomfield’s death in 1981.

Walker has released 24 albums and toured the world virtually non-stop. He has garnered four Blues Music Awards (and has been nominated a whopping 52 times) and holds an international reputation as one of the blues’ most prolific and talented stars. He’s also recorded as a guest with some of the blues world’s best-known artists, including appearances on Grammy-winning records by B.B. King and James Cotton.

His latest release is entitled BLUES COMIN' ON joined by a host of talented friends and peers on this superb studio album. Features guest performances by fellow blues icons Keb' Mo', Eric Gales, and Albert Lee plus Detroit soul singer Mitch Ryder, harmonica virtuoso Lee Oskar, Hot Tuna's Jorma Kaukonen, punk rock vocalist Charlie Harper, legendary session player Waddy Wachtel, and many others. This album explodes with the passionate playing and souful melodies that have made Walker a favorite among true blues aficionados including The Rolling Stones!  -Available at amazon.com

Life Changes Show Guest, Diana Cole August 10, 2020
Energy Healer

DIANA COLE

Diana Cole grew up in California learning about energy healing and spirituality from a very early age thanks to her father, who was a prominent figure in San Francisco’s New Age movement. Her path to helping others heal began in adulthood after she suffered a back injury and was inspired to create a specialized healing exercise for strengthening the spine. She healed herself, and then she began teaching the method to others, even opening a barre studio.

Little did she know at that time that her own series of spiritual trials were just beginning. Once Diana started a thriving brick-and-mortar business teaching the spine-strengthening method she had created, her competitors in the fitness industry banded together to ruin her business and boost theirs. Diana also went through a harrowing divorce. Suffering through physical, mental, and emotional hardship, she sank into a debilitating depression.

“I was busy living my pain stories for so long that I forgot what it felt like to be happy,” says Diana. “By 2015, the toll of these years of turmoil was abundantly clear. I couldn’t pay my bills, and I often slept 18 hours a day without ever feeling rested. I was losing my hair in handfuls, and I never felt good. I felt like worry and stress were killing me. … At a certain point, I just knew I couldn’t continue living the life I was living. I knew I had to change. I decided to trust and it worked.”

It was her gift for connecting with spirit that finally gave her a lifeline out of the darkness. Now, she has dedicated her life to helping others find their own internal path of connection so they, too, can heal and thrive.

Life Changes Show Guest, Jami Lula August 10, 2020
Recording Artist, Teacher, Youth Leader

JAMI LULA

Jami Lula, Recording Artist, Teacher, Youth Leader

It is the rare artist that is larger than the canvas they occupy. Their mission is bigger than the stage they stand upon. Their commitment and contribution extend beyond themselves to encompass all who come into contact with them. Jami Lula is such an artist.

Born and raised in Detroit’s arts and musical hotbed, Jami made his way to Southern California—into the melting pot, the creative stew where creativity, music and transformation meet. Landing the gig at LA’s Musician’s Institute as a vocal professor, his explanations and leadership provided something unique for his students and his community: a quiet and powerful sense of purpose, balance and giftedness. Music is larger than just making sound. It is the heart of the Spirit walk, the key to creative change in the world.

Associating with the top thinkers in the nascent spiritual and human-potential movement, his music influenced and was influenced: Michael Beckwith, Marianne Williamson, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Neil Donald-Walsh, Jean Houston, Barbara Marx-Hubbard, Mary Mannin Morrissey, Bishop Carlton Pearson, Dr. Shefali Tsabary and so many more were endowed with Jami’s soundtrack – a music consistent with their larger purpose and message.

Lending his voice and leadership in concert to youth groups and spiritual centers throughout the nation, Jami has been honored by LA Music Awards (“Best Male Vocalist”), winner of the Centers for Spiritual Living “Youth Champion Award,” and many other musical and mission-based honors. His work with youth is legend.

Your district attorney should pursue justice in your community without any predetermined agenda.

As your District Attorney, every decision I make will not be dictated by politics or how it will affect political careers. Rather, every decision I make will be dictated by my desire to keep you and your family safe from those who will do you harm.
