Throughout his 46 year career as a Fire Captain and Investigator, Patrick Wills had seen more than his share of trauma and death, but it wasn’t until he responded to a tragic fire that claimed the lives of three young sisters that he unknowingly descended into total PTSD.

David and guest host Kim O’Neill speak with Pat, a veteran of the Long Beach Fire Department, as he shares the emotional toll of the death of three young sisters who died while sleeping inside an illegal garage residence that caught fire. He details the complex fire and death investigation procedures and shares the emotional impact faced by dispatchers, firefighters, paramedics, and law enforcement who responded that night.

First responders are expected to hide their emotions and deal with these tragic situations, sometimes daily. How do they learn to cope, and move on after witnessing the results of such a tragic event? "The Reality of PTSD When Children Die" is the story of a tragic, preventable fire that took the lives of three young children in the city of Long Beach, CA. It is also the story of Captain Pat Wills, a fire investigator that responded to the call, his personal struggle with such tragedy; and how he made it back to the real world thanks to a police psychologist who took the time to ask a very basic question.

Patrick Wills is a 46-year fire service and law enforcement professional, serving as fire Captain/Investigator, with the Long Beach Fire Department, including 17 years as supervising investigator of the ATF Arson Unit. Wills was also involved in hundreds of arrests of adult and juvenile arson suspects, as well as testifying in state and federal courts as an expert witness.

Famed former head basketball coach at Auburn, Virginia Tech & East Tennessee

Roan Mountain, Tennessee native Sonny Smith was a head basketball coach for 22 seasons where he mentored and coached NBA Hall of Fame player Charles Barkley and NBA legend Chuck Person.

Smith served as a basketball head coach for 22 seasons. Best known as the head coach at Auburn from 1978 to 1989, he also coached at East Tennessee State (1976–1978), finishing with a 30-23 record and VCU (1989–1998).

He was hired by Auburn University in 1978. Under Smith’s leadership, Auburn secured its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1984, led by player Charles Barkley. Smith was named SEC Coach of the Year in 1984. In 1985, Smith led Auburn to win the SEC Tournament championship, winning four games in four days for the first time in tournament history. He then coached that team to the Sweet Sixteen of the 1985 NCAA Tournament. Smith would go on to lead Auburn to three more NCAA Tournament appearances. His streak of five straight NCAA Tournament appearances is the longest in Auburn history. Smith was again named SEC Coach of the Year following the 1988 season. To date, he is the only coach in Auburn men’s basketball history to have three consecutive 20-win seasons (1984-1986).

When Smith transferred to VCU, he led the team to win the Colonial Athletic Association regular season and tournament titles in 1996. He was named CAA Coach of the Year at the end of the season.

Smith retired with an overall head coaching record of 339-304. Post-retirement, Smith joined former Alabama coach Wimp Sanderson for a sports talk radio show, “The Sonny and Wimp Show” on WJOX-AM in Birmingham, Alabama. The show ran for more than six years. Smith currently works alongside Andy Burcham, providing color commentary for Auburn men’s basketball games on the Auburn Sports Network radio broadcast.

Judy Carroll was born in Queensland, AU, in 1952. Her family background is Creole, English, and Romany (Gypsy). She left school to become a professional Flamenco dancer, following in the footsteps of her grandmother, who was a dancer and clairvoyant medium in the Romany tradition. Judy feels that this background helped her to assimilate the encounters she's had with Grey ETs since early childhood. Sixty years of these ongoing and at times fully conscious encounters has given her a deep insight into this phenomenon that is happening to many thousands of people world-wide.

The ET Visitors advised her to meditate so as to facilitate easier telepathic communication, and to study Tai Chi and natural healing. In recent years, our beautiful state of Colorado partook in some of the most dramatic events in American political history. With these events came challenges, much of which have burdened our lives, the lives of our loved ones, and entire communities.

Politics is difficult for many of us to understand – its nature and complexity leaves us heavily reliant on those in power, as we fidget and hope that they fight for us. And while they tell us over and over again that we are their first priority, we somehow end up suffering the consequences of their actions that are even sometimes a result of their own ignorance and impulsivity.

Juli Henry promises a new way forward for our great state of Colorado, and the United States of America.

I love our state, and the people in it. I have dedicated my entire life to community service, and wish to see everyone – regardless of their political affiliation – treated with equal respect and opportunity. This wish of mine is not uncommon, as I am sure we all wish to see the betterment of every person. But unfortunately we have been divided against each other, forced to pick a side, and ultimately finding ourselves in a constant debate between who is right and who is wrong. The entire nation is a victim of this, and Colorado is no different.

I believed the best way to resolve this issue was to serve my country. It didn’t work. I started my own nonprofit to assist those who needed more help than me. It didn’t work. Politics is nothing more than a game, consisting of players who give us false truths, and balance their self-interests with that of their own. And now, after seeing all the pain that we have suffered, have concluded that the only way for real action is to play their silly game, with the intention of creating a positive change: for my family, my community, and my state.

My name is Juli Henry. I am a Colorado wife, mother, Army veteran, and a Republican. More importantly, I am an American, and I know that nothing will change if we ourselves do not enact the action necessary to improve our community. I never imagined myself having to go to such lengths to fight for my rights and the rights instilled in every American, but if it means providing more people the opportunity for prosperity, I am willing to stake my name and wellbeing to ensure such matters.
