Former Newsweek White House Correspondent, Contributor at the McLaughlin Group and Columnist at The Daily Beast - Eleanor Clift!  Eleanor and I will discuss the results of the General Election, which seem to be more of a "red ripple" than a "red wave." What will this mean for the Biden administration and, more importantly, what will it mean for the District which is subject to the control of Congress? I look forward to hearing Eleanor's insights on politics in America, the divide in public opinion and what she sees going forward with our economy and for our community.

Shadow Politics Guest, Eleanor Clift January 09, 2022
Political Reporter, Television Pundit, Columnist and Author

Eleanor Clift is a columnist for the Daily Beast, an online publication. She writes about politics and policy in Washington, and the partisan clashes that make governing almost impossible. Clift has covered every presidential campaign since 1976 and bring her perspective to analyze the dynamics between an unconventional president and his party, and an opposition party still licking its wounds over its loss in 2016. Clift is best known as a panelist on the syndicated talk show, “The McLaughlin Group,” which ended a 34-year run with the death of the host in 2016. She has appeared as herself in several movies, including “Dave,” “Independence Day,” “Murder at 1600,” “Rising Sun,” and the CBS series, “Murphy Brown.” Clift and her late husband, Tom Brazaitis, who was a columnist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, wrote two books together, “War Without Bloodshed: The Art of Politics” (Scribner, 1996), and “Madam President: Shattering the Last Glass Ceiling (Scribner, 2000). Madam President is available in paperback (Routledge Press). Clift’s book, “Founding Sisters,” is about the passage of the 19th amendment giving women the vote (John Wiley & Sons, 2003). Her recent book, “Two Weeks of Life: A Memoir of Love, Death and Politics” (Basic Books, 2008) is about the loss of her husband together with an examination of how we deal with death in America. “Selecting a President,” written with Matthew Spieler (Thomas Dunne Books), published in 2012, examines the process that for all its flaws is better than the alternative. Formerly Newsweek’s White House correspondent, Clift also served as congressional and political correspondent for six years. She was a key member of the magazine’s 1992 election team, following the campaign of Bill Clinton from the start to inauguration day. In June 1992 she was named Deputy Washington bureau chief.

As a reporter in Newsweek’s Atlanta bureau, Clift covered Jimmy Carter’s bid for the presidency. She followed Carter to Washington to become Newsweek’s White House correspondent, a position she held until 1985. Clift began her career as a secretary to Newsweek’s National Affairs editor in New York. She was one of the first women at the magazine to move from secretary to reporter. Clift left Newsweek briefly in 1985 to serve as White House correspondent for The Los Angeles Times. She returned to Newsweek the following year to cover the Iran-Contra scandal, which embroiled President Reagan and tarnished his administration. Clift covered every presidential campaign since 1976, and was part of Newsweek’s special project team following the 1984, 2000, 2004 and 2008 elections, each of which resulted in a book. The most recent, “A Long Time Coming,” written by Evan Thomas and based on the Newsweek team’s reporting (Public Affairs, 2009) chronicles the history-making campaign of Barack Obama. Clift lives in Washington, D.C., where she is on the advisory council of the International Women’s Media Foundation, the board of the American News Women’s Club, the Board of Governor’s of the National Hospice Foundation, and the board of Respect Ability, which advocates for people with disabilities.

Chuck and Julie Show Guest, Mike Dunafon January 07, 2022
9th Mayor of Glendale Colorado, Politician

“Liberty is the essence of the American ideal and this philosophy can only be advanced by the individual.  At the core our founding philosophy lies one fundamental requirement – critical thought.  Without critical thought, Liberty is in free fall, and subject to opinion, innuendo and ridicule. Worse yet, where critical thinking is absent, we too often see egoism, greed and unprincipled aggression against the helpless.

- Mayor Mike Dunafon, Nov 2014

The antithesis of a professional politician, Mayor Mike Dunafon is fiercely independent and refuses to accept any money from anyone. Mike believes that both the Democrats on the left and the Republicans on the right have sold out America pandering for their share of corporate and PAC money. He understands that the intellectual elites running the Democrats want to control your decisions because they know better than you, what is best for you and your family.  Mike fundamentally rejects this idea and big government categorically, and believes that we need to reverse our current path toward socialism, by creating more liberty and less government. On the other side of the spectrum, Mike also rejects the imposition of religious intolerance by segments within the Republican Party, specifically on the social issues of reproductive liberty and marital equality. These social matters are best resolved by adopting public policy choices that promote liberty for women (over their bodies) and marriage equality for all couples, irrespective of sexual expression or orientation.

Paradigm Shifters Guest, Sondra Sneed January 04, 2022
Godscribe

Sondra Sneed is a recovering atheist.  She met God in the basement of a rental house in Secaucus, NJ. A voice from the eons wrote a message in her journal, “Unemployed? It is my assertion you are employed by me.”  This moment marked the first day of her year in solitude, in 2004, during which she produced 10 spiral notebooks in dialogue with the creator of the universe.  She’s kept these notebooks in secret for eight years – until now.

One writing session produced a twenty-page narrative about “the Adam and the Eve.” This hour of dictation reveals a message so uncanny, it solves the 4,000-year-old riddle as to why Eve was made from Adam’s rib.  Sondra says it is the first recorded use of adult stem cells, and the metaphor is not about Eve being Adam’s help mate, but instead Eve is God’s helpmate.

Available for the first time, “Relief to See Her Arrive, The Lost Symbol of the Adam and the Eve,” illustrates Eve’s profound purpose.  This purpose was omitted by the original editors of the book of Genesis.  It is now available on Amazon in the exact way God told the story to her while she took dictation.

Eight years later Sondra is ready to take-up her own purpose as a messenger for God, resulting in a debut book, published by the same publisher who discovered Neale Donald Walsch, author of Conversations With God series.

Now, more than ever, each human being has a purpose and a place on the path of human righteousness [Right-now-ness].  But righteousness is not just for the pious, it is for those who know the mind of God is within them. Those who know they will never lose the way that life becomes, as it moves in the course of the magnificent means.”

“I have no interest in the exhaustive attempt to prove that I talk to the creator of the universe.  I leave that up to my readers.”
