New York, NY (PRWeb) May 31dit, 2011 - Music veteran writer, composer, producer and performer, John Matarazzo, has been accompanied by legendary engineer and producer Logan Strand to form LOGICAL DRIFT; a new project with a whole lot of history. Over the years, Matarazzo has worked on major records, and performed with popular acts (Blood Sweat & Tears, Bob Dylan, Ike & Tina Turner, Sly & The Family Stone, etc.) where he was then led to work on more conscious and spiritually driven projects helping to create pioneering recordings of ambient and electronica music (John Zorn, Jah Wobble, Mick Harris and Buckethead).

Reaching success in these genres, Matarazzo then began to invite more established world artists to work with him on a variety of projects (Ravi Shankar, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Herbie Hancock, Lee "Scratch" Perry, The Gamelan Of Bali, Lata Mangeshcar, The Monks Of Notre Dame, and Buddhist Monks of Maitri Vihar Monastery Tibet). With an established world music catalog that expanded Matarazzo's existing discography, he then journeyed off to field recording and performance projects taking him to places as far away as Bali, Indonesia, Sumatra, Tibet, North Africa and Morocco, Mali and Thailand. Continuing his spiritual path, Matarazzo's interests grew into experimenting with psychological compositions and electronic music elements instituted by Karl Heinz Stockhausen and Pierre Boulez; adapting them to create psychological dreamscapes and aural environments designed to evoke spiritual responses from the listener that may heighten the listener's overall growth in spirituality. Synthesizing sounds in acoustic laboratories, Matarazzo was able to develop a palette of unique and emotionally resonant sounds from simple sine wave generators overlaying harmonic spectrums and resonating filters that infused evocative and sensual aural landscapes and alternative worlds.

Combining his knowledge of ancient spiritual systems, psychoacoustics and aural imaging, he composed soundscapes that heighten the listeners' sense of wellness and tranquility; stimulating the Chakra portals, thereby carrying the listener on a journey toward greater awareness and aliveness. His aim is to author music that will provide an important map for our wholeness and transformation, both personally and globally by opening the Chakra paths to enlightenment and integration.

Comprised of six thought provoking tracks, the first LOGICAL DRIFT project represents the most recent incantation of the musical concepts and explorations of Matarazzo's career in a community of ambient, world and new age music. Bruce Greyson is a researcher in the field of near-death studies and has been called the father of research in near-death experiences.[2][3] Greyson, along with Kenneth Ring, Michael Sabom, and others, built on the research of Raymond Moody, Russell Noyes Jr and Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. Greyson's scale to measure the aspects of near-death experiences[4] has been widely used, being cited 95 times as of early 2010.[5] He also devised a 19-item scale to assess experience of kundalini, the Physio-Kundalini Scale.[6]

Greyson wrote the overview of Near Death Experiences for the Encyclopædia Britannica and was the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Near-Death Studies (formerly Anabiosis) from 1982 through 2007. Greyson has been interviewed or consulted many times in the press on the subject of near-death experiences.[7][8][9][10][11][12][13]

Jimbo Simmons is a member of the Choctaw nation and of the Leadership Council of the American Indian Movement West (AIM-WEST), which resists colonization, respects traditional knowledge and self-determination, and raises awareness on issues that concern Indians of the Americas, from racism to protection of sacred sites, the rights of the child, treaties, political prisoners, police brutality, immigration and militarization, climate change and the United Nations General Assembly Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. He is in solidarity with Palestinians and all indigenous peoples that are subjected to expulsion and ethnic cleansing.

Joe Meadors was a U.S. Navy signalman on the USS Liberty on June 8, 1967 when Israel attacked and tried to sink the ship. He was on the bridge throughout the attack and has described seeing Israeli forces machine-gunning life rafts. He is past president and current director of operations of the USS Liberty Veterans Association, which is calling for a full investigation on the attack and subsequent cover-up by Israel and the U.S. government. In 2010 he participated in a flotilla of boats that tried to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza by taking humanitarian goods directly to Gaza. Joe was taken prisoner with the other passengers when Israeli forces hijacked the boat at sea, in violation of international law.

On June 8, 1967, US Navy intelligence ship USS Liberty was suddenly and brutally attacked on the high seas in international waters by the air and naval forces of Israel. The Israeli forces attacked with full knowledge that this was an American ship and lied about it. Survivors have been forbidden for 40 years to tell their story under oath to the American public. The USS Liberty Memorial web site tells their story and is dedicated to the memory of the 34 brave men who died.



The Attack

After surveilling USS Liberty for more than nine hours with almost hourly aircraft overflights and radar tracking, the air and naval forces of Israel attacked our ship in international waters without warning. USS Liberty was identified as a US naval ship by Israeli reconnaissance aircraft nine hours before the attack and continuously tracked by Israeli radar and aircraft thereafter. Sailing in international waters at less than five knots, with no offensive armament, our ship was not a military threat to anyone.

The Israeli forces attacked without warning and without attempting to contact us. Thirty four Americans were killed in the attack and another 174 were wounded.   The ship, a $40-million dollar state-of-the-art signals intelligence platform, was later declared unsalvageable and sold for scrap.



The Cover Up

Despite a near-universal consensus that the Israeli attack was made with full knowledge that USS Liberty was a US Navy ship, the Johnson administration began an immediate cover-up of this fact. Though administration officers continued individually to characterize the attack as deliberate, the Johnson administration never sought the prosecution of the guilty parties or otherwise attempted to seek justice for the victims. They concealed and altered evidence in their effort to downplay the attack. Though they never formally accepted the Israeli explanation that it was an accident, they never pressed for a full investigation either. They simply allowed those responsible literally to get away with murder.



In an ongoing effort to reveal the truth about the attack, the USS Liberty Veterans Association has filed with the Secretary of the Army in the manner prescribed by law a detailed, fully documented Report of War Crimes describing the circumstances of the attack on our ship and evidence that it was a crime under international law. In accordance with international law and treaties, the United States is obligated to investigate the allegations. Anti-Semitism and the Anti-American Apologists

The USS Liberty Memorial web site abhors the racist and extreme positions taken by antiSemitic, Holocaust denial, conspiracy theorist and other such groups which often seek to identify with us and to usurp our story as their own. We have no connection with and do not support or encourage support from any of these groups including National Alliance, National Vanguard, The New Order, National Socialists, The French Connection, Liberty Lobby, American Free Press, Republic Broadcasting, USS Liberty Radio Hour, Storm Front or other such groups. We wish harm to no one and encourage social justice and equality for everyone; we seek only accountability for the criminal acts perpetrated against us and can do that without help from hate-mongers.



On the Israeli side, the group of pro-Israel, anti-American critics of our story, while small, persists in launching loud, vicious ad hominem attacks on anyone who attempts to discuss the deliberateness of the attack. These anti-American apologists refuse to discuss the facts of the case. Instead, they rely on propaganda and charge anyone who questions the Israeli position with being antiSemitic.

The Betrayal of American Veterans

Americans who volunteer for military service effectively write a blank check, payable to the United States of America for an amount "up to and including my life." The United States, in turn, promises to spend these checks responsibly. That bargain implicitly includes a promise by the United States to protect them and to seek retribution against anyone who harms them. In the case of USS Liberty, the United States has failed to keep its end of the bargain.

Pat Chaffee is a Dominican Sister. She has been active in human rights advocacy for thirty years. She visited the West Bank in 2006 and Gaza in 2009. In 2010 she participated in the aborted Gaza Freedom March, marooned in Cairo.  Her motive for joining the flotilla is to tell the people of Gaza that she is opposed to her country's oppression. She is committed to nonviolence, under any circumstances.

27 Years of International Activism

Her portfolio is comprised of impressive 27-years of activism, starting in Nicaragua in 1984.  Her most recent mission was intended to be sailing with the Second Freedom Flotilla to Gaza.  All participants in this human rights mission however, were prevented from leaving Athens, Greece, their planned city of departure.  S. Pat had first become familiar with the Palestinian situation in 2007 when she took the first of three trips to the region as a member of a Christian peace-making team.  She met and spoke with Palestinians and experienced first-hand “what it meant to be occupied.”

Dr. Paul Larudee spent 14 years in Arab countries as a student, teacher, Fulbright-Hays lecturer, and U.S. government advisor. He has been to Palestine many times since 1965, and is active with the International Solidarity Movement, a nonviolent resistance group. He is a co-founder of the Free Palestine Movement (FPM) and the Free Gaza Movement (FGM), whose boats broke a 41-year-old Israeli naval blockade of Gaza in August, 2008, and he was a member of the U.S. delegation aboard the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, which was attacked by Israeli forces on May 31, 2010.

Paul Larudee was born to an Iranian Presbyterian minister and his American missionary spouse in 1946 and grew up in the American Midwest. He has a Ph.D. in linguistics from Georgetown University and spent 14 years in Arab countries as a contracted U.S. government advisor, Fulbright-Hays exchange lecturer, teacher, training administrator and graduate student.

Paul has visited the Palestinian region many times since 1965, including four times with the International Solidarity Movement, a Palestinian-led movement that applies nonviolent principles to resist Israeli human rights violations. Paul was among seven ISM volunteers wounded by Israeli gunfire in April, 2002 in an otherwise nonviolent attempt to help Palestinian families. In 2006, he was held in Israeli detention for two weeks while unsuccessfully appealing a decision to deny him entry. He helped organize nonviolent resistance in Lebanon during the 2006 Israeli invasion. He is one of the founders of the Free Gaza Movement, whose boats, on August 23, 2008, became the first in 41 years to enter Gaza by sea, breaking the Israeli naval blockade. He is also a founder of the Free Palestine Movement, which also seeks to challenge Israel's blockade and denial of access to all of Palestine by sea, air and land.

Paul, a former student of Noam Chomsky, became a Professor of Linguistics himself and remains a good friend and colleague of Professor Chomsky. Working with the NorCal branch of the International Solidarity Movement, Paul is very much a believer in and practitioner of Gandhi's principles of non-violence. Paul was one of the 5 USA delegates aboard the Sfendoni, a ship of the Freedom flotilla attempting to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza.

When Israeli commandos boarded the Sfendoni in 2010, Paul non-violently resisted, refused to sign any papers without his lawyer and as a result the Israelis tased, tied-up, twisted his limbs, slammed his head into concrete repeatedly, and hit him with a flash bomb. Paul suffered multiple bruises, 2 black eyes, but refused to be treated by Israeli doctors as he did not trust them, especially since he suffers from Diabetes and needed special treatment and compatible medication. Paul was kept in prison for two days at Givon Prison, Ramle, Israel.
