Yours Mine and Ours with Gabrielle Cardona
Working hard to relax
After the introduction
Summary of last week; set up for this week
Taking care of Self; becoming higher quality: Relaxing for them
Taking care of Others; Facilitating their relaxation: Being relaxing for them
Issues in the world today that have created problems in the health of society:
Pharmaceutical Industry: side effects reduce quality of sleep
Technology: sensory overstimulation
Biochemistry of Relaxation; sleep/tired conundrum
Relaxing Physically:
Biochemistry: eat right, sleep, and exercise
Overstimulation: mentally, emotionally, and socially
Over-motivation: the world we live in
*our lifestyle is very unhealthy because “doing less” hasn’t saved us time or work. We just replace those things with less-healthy versions of the same activities. We need to do the things that machines and objects are now doing for us.
Relaxing Emotionally:
Anxiety: concern that something COULD happen
Common situations that cause anxiety: social, financial, health
Fear: concern that something IS happening
Actual danger to the safety and survival: emotional, physical, mental
Anger: concern that something HAS happened
Reaction for motivation: injustice, failure, unkindness
Relaxing Mentally:
Preoccupation: excessive thought about anything, for any reason. Never appropriate or important. The very definition of the word is “excessive”
Distraction: external, superfluous elements to take focus away
When they’re “important”
When they’re “unimportant”
When you’re not sure which they are
Imagination: internal, superfluous elements to take focus away
When they’re important
When they’re unimportant
When you’re not sure which one they are
The Power of Synergy
"Is relationship coaching right for me?"
Unlike conventional counseling, relationship coaching is about insightful education and listening more than talking.
Connection, communication, and accountability are the 3 elements to a successful relationship. All 3 are vital and perpetual. Relationships are about knowing yourself and understanding others so that what you share is healthy and beneficial--to you both.
Some questions to ask yourself:
- Are you truly ready for healthy change?
- Can you handle homework?
- How honest are you with yourself?
- How much support do you provide to others?
- Are you qualified for a relationship?
Only YOU know the answers!
Do you know what the things people say mean? How do you interpret their actions? Try taking a look at their personality! There are 16 different personalities, and one statement from one person can mean something completely different when coming from someone else.
Learn about what's behind behavior. Information from "experts" can confuse people. It is inaccurate. If you attend an MBTI seminar, you'll walk away knowing AND understanding what people do, how they do it, and why they do it. You'll also understand yourself.
