Guest Biography

Best known for his portrayal of Walter “Flynn” White Jr. for five riveting seasons of AMC’s Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning dramatic thriller “Breaking Bad,” RJ Mitte is an actor, advocate and philanthropist who has carved out his niche in Hollywood by breaking down stereotypes and changing people’s mindsets with his easy-going demeanor and positive outlook. As Walt Jr., referred to by fans as “The Breakfast King,” Mitte acted as the cerebral palsy afflicted son of Walter (Bryan Cranston) and Skyler White (Anna Gunn). As Walter continues his descent into drug manufacturing and trade, Walt Jr. finds himself torn between his father’s deceit, his mother’s protectiveness, and his own developing sense of independence as a disabled teenager. Walter Jr.’s cerebral palsy on the show was embellished, as he had to learn how to walk on crutches and slur his speech to create a more dramatic version of his own disability.

At the age of three, Louisiana native Mitte was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, but that has never deterred his drive to succeed in television and film. A chance encounter with a casting director led to his move to Los Angeles and Mitte quickly landed roles on various shows such as “Weeds,” NBC’s “Vegas,” “Everybody Hates Chris” and co-starred on ABC Family’s primetime hit show “Switched at Birth,” until being cast in his life-changing role on “Breaking Bad.” Mitte has since made his way to the big screen, starring in multiple indie films in the past few years, including DIXIELAND, appearing in his first non-handicapped leading role, TIME SHARE, a winner of Sundance Film Festival’s

Never one to shy away from an opportunity to take his talents to new avenues, RJ was thrust into the global spotlight as the celebrity face and model of GAP International’s “Lived in Spring” campaign; with his image appearing on mediums such as billboards, buses, and life-sized posters in cities across the world from Tokyo to the US,. He has since cemented himself as a face to know in the fashion world after walking in Men’s Fashion Week in Milan, Berlin and New York City for Vivienne Westwood, soPopular and Ovadia & Sons. He’s also a member of Kenneth Cole’s “Courageous Class;” for talent recognized for using their platform for advocacy and creating social change.

Throughout the years, Mitte has been an inspiration to his peers around the world by championing his cerebral palsy in hopes of removing the stigma associated with disabilities. In order to bring awareness to his own issues with bullying and prejudice, Mitte has engaged in public speaking and Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Screenwriting and 2021’s heartfelt hit TRIUMPH, starring World alongside Terrance Howard and Jonathan Schaech.

Serves as the official Ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and partners with Shriners Hospitals for Children to spearhead their #CutTheBull campaign to advocate on anti-bullying measures. He’s also involved with SAG-AFTRA as a committee member of the union's IAPWD (I Am a Performer with Disabilities) and is an active board member of his family’s legacy project, The Mitte Foundation.

They show a few months ago and it's so crazy to see people who watched it then and there still watching it now have a show that that still Echoes even<br> over a decade later you know yeah yeah it's great I just don't look like the number one series<br> yeah for a minute you know I think with the type of cinematic value that that Breaking Bad brought really change the perception on TV shows are made and in the content and the the the quality and we were one of the very first showed ever to to have that on a mainstream platform<br> also shooting film where you hid 35<br> wow<br> will you know you do I know that at the age of 3 you were diagnosed with cerebral palsy bad butt and do you have a mild case of the same condition you had to research the character<br> and even has a child in order to bounce version of sleepy but it's amazing to me how you were able to do that and learn how to walk on crutches and that the slurred speech everything that you did to make that caricature you know real well thank you thank you brother but really for the crutches all I did was use them I just I just put my waiting to them and and it just get it you know I got the boys the best if I was just character my CPU is a little worse for wear that look like and I just tried to recreate that my my mind<br> wow you know that takes a healed mindset<br> very skilled I mean to learn and lived experience for me and in being able to take what I've been through in the knowledge I've gathered and just implemented into my characters<br> you know what would you say is the most challenging or what's the most challenging playing the role of Walt Jr<br> I think the most challenging thing you actually has nothing to do with the characters after the character is over and you continue to be able to be proud of that character and you know we had the most amazing script in the world when you write a script is what we ride on scripts is pretty much exactly what happened on camera and insofar as working on the show it was a dream come true because do you spell professional it just had such a<br> 30 Villages written so well that all the work was practically done for you you just had to go and do it<br> bright right oh I think yes cerebral palsy has never deterred your drive you know to secede in television and film that mean you've appeared and on Showtime's weeds NBC's Vegas and CW's the Everybody Hates Chris and you've had a great career<br> yeah no I mean I think everything through apologist Amplified by drive to 212 grow and what I wanted to do more things and be a part of more projects and put myself out there more and it really is fuel to me to be able to utilize it in a way that's going to that have when I have it and I think it's such an honor and responsibility to be able to take characters that people really want to see a Volvo and grow that happened to have disabilities but this really aren't disabled<br> bright right it's a major influence I mean even later you moved into the Global Spotlight as the celebrity International what lived in frame campaign I mean that's huge New York<br> I'm not that you became internationally the states to know in the fashion world I mean come on RJ it really is like why do you have to say and you know I was able to spend a lot of time of Europe while I'm doing my own thing and I did it for like 4 years in the world for it out of the great part of my life<br> hey you were living the dream<br> Triad yeah live in it I mean living it and then you I mean didn't hear you go walking the Men's Fashion Week in the lawn and Berlin and New York City I mean come on<br> it was it was something I was pretty ugly while I was a little crazy but meeting people in and making friends everywhere in this world and I'm very lucky to have the opportunity to have friends all over this planet and it it's really it's really a special treat to have a character that that is like a bowl and people can relate to and I'm and it really helped start conversations but I have to say<br> Asian Americans die every year, facing my darling I know one thing for sure<br> is where it is<br> everything will be alright<br> father you say everything is going to be alright but my circumstances say I wont.
