Minnesota singer and songwriter Neil Bacon has been waiting a long-time to share his original music with the world. Having debuted his vocals on stage at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul, MN, back in 2003, the Minnesota Air National Guard soon took the reins. Neil joined the Air National Guard in 2001 and was deployed on seven separate occasions to Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan in service of his country. Though this life path directed him away from music, it undoubtedly played a role in his writing – relationships abroad, struggles with substance abuse and reintegration, all comes to light in his songs. Far from gloomy or melancholic by nature though, Neil’s debut album SevenOneNine proves a beacon of light in troubled times, and underlines the work of an artist with years of stories and musical immersion to his name.
Neil’s original music features accessible, genuine vocals, and hints of harder rock and softer folk alike for a truly versatile, expressive journey, an acoustic backbone that evolves into Americana-kissed realms of full-band warmth throughout a series of heartfelt, deeply human songs. SevenOneNine, Neil’s debut album, showcases blissful finger-style arrangements, reggae rhythms, and hard-hitting anthems intermittently. Regardless of genre, the music always promises catchy, comforting melodies, and writing that effortlessly connects.
Now intent on sharing his original music with the world, Neil brings together a certain seriousness in his writing with an authentically carefree and fun personality.
