Many struggle with the thought of forgiving someone who hurt them, and in some cases it can be nearly an impossible task.  Some hurts are so deep that it may feel as though you are “getting back at them” by not forgiving them.

But the fact is, forgiveness is much more about helping you to create peace and freedom from the pain.  You see, forgiving is not about forgetting.  It’s not about “allowing someone to get away with it.”  Standing up for justice and letting the other person know that you will stand up for yourself is part of the healing process.

However, as the saying goes, staying in the anger and hatred towards the person who harmed you is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die.
