Chiropractors have been adjusting the spine for over 100 years with excellent results. Pioneers in the osteopathic and chiropractic profession and develop techniques for not only adjusting the spine but also the cranial vault to help correct neurological dysfunctions and temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD). Cranial bones join with each other through interlocking articulations called sutures. Distortions in the cranial vault can produce a variety of symptoms including headaches, hearing, visual, sinus congestion and eustachian tube blocking. This relations of the cranial sutural system can affect the flow of cerebral spinal fluid around the brain which can diminish neurological function by altering the electrolyte balance necessary for nerve transmission. The circulation of blood into the brain to the arterial system and the venous deoxygenated drainage of blood from the brain can also affect brain function. Abnormal flow of blood and cerebral spinal fluid to specific areas of the brain can affect coordination, concentration, balance, emotions, memory and systemic metabolism.
Craniopathic techniques are beneficial in restoring temporomandibular joint function which can affect the neurological system in addition to producing jaw pain, cracking, popping and locking. Craniopathic procedures also been utilized for the correction of attention deficit disorder and learning disabilities in children.
