Ep160, How To Have Gods Life Living In You, Part 58

The Living Union: Cultivating God’s Life Within (Part 58)

This broadcast features Pastor Tony Alamo discussing the transition from a preliminary spiritual experience to a permanent indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The session emphasizes the tripartite nature of man—spirit, soul, and body—and the necessity of an "organic union" with the Divine through personal experience rather than mere religious ritual.

Global Ministry and Outreach

The program highlights the expanding reach of the ministry through correspondence from Nigeria, the Philippines, and Ghana. Evangelists in Nigeria report hundreds of conversions and a dire need for Bibles and literature to equip new believers in deprived areas. Meanwhile, supporters in Texas and the Philippines are coordinating the reprinting of the book The Messiah to facilitate local distribution, reducing shipping costs and allowing resources to be redirected to food and clothing for the needy.

Global Literature Distribution

NigeriaHigh demand for Bibles & Newsletters for new converts.
PhilippinesLocal reprinting of "The Messiah" to save shipping costs.
GhanaIndividual requests for Bibles and spiritual guidance.

Divine Symbolism and the Nature of Christ

Pastor Alamo explores the symbolic language of the Book of Revelation, specifically the depiction of God and the New Jerusalem as "Jasper." The green color of jasper is identified as a symbol of eternal life and immortality. Furthermore, the dual nature of Christ is presented through the imagery of the Lion and the Lamb: He is the conquering, triumphant King (the Lion) to His enemies, but a gentle Savior (the Lamb) to those who are redeemed. The discussion also clarifies that spiritual identity transcends physical lineage, asserting that one must become a "spiritual Jew" through Christ to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Tripartite Nature: Spirit, Soul, and Body

A central theme of the sermon is the distinction between the three parts of human existence. The Body is described as the lowest level, associated with animalistic instincts; the Soul (comprising mind, will, and emotions) is the seat of worldly desires and "soulish" religion; and the Spirit is the highest part, designed specifically to contact and contain God. True salvation requires the human spirit to be united with the Spirit of God, which then provides the power to "mortify" or discipline the lusts of the body and the whims of the soul.

The Tripartite Hierarchy of Man

SPIRIT (The Highest)

The "Saint" level. Used to contact, receive, and contain God. The seat of organic union.

SOUL (The Middle)

The "Gentleperson" level. Mind, Will, and Emotions. Can be religious but lacks divine life.

BODY (The Lowest)

The "Beast" level. Driven by physical lusts, cravings (e.g., sugar, tobacco), and instincts.

Knowing God vs. Knowing About God

The broadcast concludes with a stern rebuke of "intellectual" Christianity. Using the analogy of a restaurant menu, Alamo argues that reading about God or praying "stock" prayers is like reading a menu without eating the food—one knows the description but has never tasted the reality. He emphasizes that a "union" with God is akin to a marriage where there is constant communication and mutual indwelling. Without this experiential "tasting" of the Lord, religious activities like reading and praying remain hollow.

To-Do / Next Steps

  • Financial Support: Listeners are encouraged to send tithes and offerings to support soul-winning efforts and provide for the physical needs (food, clothing, lodging) of converts in Nigeria and other deprived areas.
  • Literature Distribution: The ministry must ship five copies of The Messiah to Garland, Texas, for onward transmission to the Philippines for reprinting.
  • Bible Provision: A Bible must be sent to Frank in Accra, Ghana, per his request.
  • Personal Consecration: Individuals are invited to pray the "sinner's prayer" to invite Christ into their hearts and initiate a real, communicative relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Conclusion

The ultimate goal of the Christian life is not mere religious adherence, but a disciplined, organic union where the Spirit of God directs the human spirit, soul, and body. Only through this active, communicative relationship can an individual truly "know" God and be prepared for the Kingdom of Heaven.

Speaker 1
Hello, again. This is World Pastor Tony Elamo, and we're in part five eight, 58 of How to Have God's Life Living In You. And this is going to be tape or CD number 160. Th- this program is 160, so if you'd like to have a copy of the tape or CD, please specify. We'll tell you at the end of the, uh, program how to receive a copy of it, and we'll give you our website, uh, how to contact our website in order. Right now, let's, uh, we have some letters, and, uh, let's go to the throne of the Lord and ask Him to anoint outwardly this service. Father, You breathed a breath into us at salvation, and then later You told the disciples to, that was a preliminary amount of spirit that You breathed into them in the 20th chapter of the book of John, verse 22. Um, but then You told them after You left, it was like 40 days He spent talking to him.

01:14

Speaker 1
Then 40 days later, approximately, uh, You, uh, told them, uh, 40 days after You had been there, told them after You ascended into the Kingdom of Heaven that they should tarry in Jerusalem to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit so that it would not be a preliminary, uh, indwelling spirit, but it would be permanent, uh, so long as they kept Your commandments. And so, Lord, we emphasize today that people should, uh, get the permanent abiding Comforter living in, uh, them, dwelling in them, because You have stated in Your word that, uh, we must be in You and You must be in us in order for us to have life eternal. Uh, Jesus, You are the life of God. Uh, You are the life. You're the way to heaven, the truth of how to get to heaven, and the life. Without You, God has no life. According to scripture, You are the life. You're the wisdom, the knowledge, the power, the understanding of God, and the very life of God.

02:35

Speaker 1
And so therefore, we know we must have You with the Father by the Spirit dwelling in us in order to have life. We know that, uh, life comes by faith. Your immortal life comes to us by faith, and also to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit comes to us by faith. You said that we'd have power after the baptism of the Holy Spirit comes upon us, and so therefore, we must have the faith to receive it however. And so we thank You, Lord, for this wisdom, this understanding, and knowledge. Lord, take over this broadcast. Let every word that is said be directed from Your mouth through mine to those that are lost and dying out in the world, and to the Church, that they might be strengthened, and the lost may be saved. In Jesus' name I pray and everyone says Amen.

03:36

Speaker 2
Amen.

03:37

Speaker 1
All right. So where's the first letter from?

03:39

Speaker 2
From Edo State, Nigeria, West Africa.

03:42

Speaker 1
Okay.

03:43

Speaker 2
"Dear Pastor Elamo, greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To meet the needs of the new converts, we solicit literature, Bibles, tapes, and the book The Messiah for the equipping of the new converts. Your newsletters, which I got from a pastor friend here in Nigeria, helped me a lot as I used the messages to minister to the people. Hundreds of them gave their lives to Christ, and there is a great challenge facing me and my team. I know through God's sufficiency and His grace in your life and ministry, you will be of a great support to keep these souls for Christ and to prepare them for the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Thanks.

04:22

Speaker 2
Evangelist Benson from Edo State, Nigeria."

04:25

Speaker 1
Yeah. We spend... I spend very little times, uh, asking for finances for you to give finances unto the Lord. I live in a very small bungalow and, um, you know, there isn't any, uh, that I see, any waste in this ministry whatsoever. And, uh, you, if you want to be blessed by the Lord, send finances so these hundreds of souls that are being saved in this man's ministry alone, uh, not, and, and to speak of the hundreds of thousands that are being saved, these people need finances 'cause they're very interested in winning more souls and, uh, and getting those souls to receive more and more of the Gospel that they might reach maturity in the Lord. And also, many of them are in deprived areas where, and depressed areas where there's no food or lodging, no clothing, and, uh, you need to support the work of the Lord. If you don't, well, you're robbing God, and, uh, no thief shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven. If you're gonna steal from somebody, I wouldn't...

05:38

Speaker 1
Uh, you're not supposed to do that because then you're robbing people of their faith in humanity that is filled with the Lord. So you must be filled with the Lord, and you must obey the commandment to tithe. So send the finances in. If you don't wanna send it in to us, we'll gladly give you the address of these people that need the finances because we don't want the money for ourself. We wanna, um-... get these people to where they are able to support their own ministries, and you need to be part of this ministry as well. Okay, where's the next letter from?

06:18

Speaker 2
From Garland, Texas.

06:19

Speaker 1
Okay.

06:20

Speaker 2
"Pastor Tony Lamu, I have read carefully your book The Messiah, and I was amazed so much that it encouraged me to send a letter to thank you for letting me know the only way to the kingdom of our Almighty God. I have received carefully all the verses regarding The Messiah as proven in the Bible. Pastor Tony Lamu, I am about to go home to the Philippines on May or June. May I encourage you to send me five books of The Messiah to be reprinted by our pastors there for distribution to the brothers in the service?"

06:51

Speaker 1
That's fabulous and we c-... We could use, uh, that's... So that'll help this ministry a lot, is for them to reprint it over there, so we don't have to, uh, pr- print it. We just, uh, printed up 100,000 more of those Messiah books in English alone. We have it in many other languages, but then to ship it, and so it'll be nice to have somebody printing it there in the Philippines, and, uh, we don't have to ship it there. That'd save, uh, money. We can direct the money, uh, more books and literature and clothing and food to other areas. All right. Then what?

07:27

Speaker 2
"My grandson has a printing machine, so I am obliged to ask you to send me five Messiah books to be copywritten, to be spread to believers like us. I am a member of the Church of the Living God, and with this idea, we can spread Christianity well. Hoping for your kind attention with my fervent request with high regard to our friends in the ministry and consideration. Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, and I pray for you and that this letter will reach you. God bless you.

07:56

Speaker 2
Sh- Sebastian from Garland, Texas."

07:59

Speaker 1
Okay. Well, let's do that. Let's get them the five Messiah books right away.

08:04

Speaker 2
Mm-hmm.

08:04

Speaker 1
Amen.

08:05

Speaker 2
Amen.

08:05

Speaker 1
They probably already have sent 'em. Okay, then who's... Where's the next one from?

08:09

Speaker 2
From Ghana, West Africa. "Thank you very much for sending me your newsletters. I really enjoyed reading them. I can see I am changed completely. I shared the literature with people. As of now, I don't have a Bible. Please send me one. May God richly bless you. Frank from Accra, Ghana, West Africa."

08:27

Speaker 1
All right. Praise the Lord. Now, let's get into, um, Part 5-8 about Have God's Heart Living in You. It's a very important subject. With the Lord abiding in us, and we... He ab-... Uh, He abides in us. He lives in us, and He doesn't want anybody else to live in us. He doesn't even want us to live in ourselves. He wants us to die, and He wants to do all the living and the working in, uh, in and through us. And it's for sure He doesn't want any sin abiding in us. He won't live in a soul that sins. And then what?

09:06

Speaker 2
"The one-"

09:08

Speaker 1
Where are we at now?

09:09

Speaker 2
Um, about being jasper, looking like jasper.

09:12

Speaker 1
Okay. Yes. So, go ahead.

09:14

Speaker 2
"The one sitting on the throne, who is God, looks like jasper."

09:17

Speaker 1
Okay. In the Book of Revelation, it talks about this other sign or picture that the Lord is showing John, and he's showing Him, God, as a jasper, uh, like, uh, a greenish-colored precious stone that's very beautiful, and it's, uh, symbolic. This is the, the biggest book of symbols in the Bible, and it's, uh, that's symbolic of eternal life, green. Green, you know, you look out, the green grass and the green leaves and things that are greens out there, like lettuce and spinach and things like... It's got life in it. Amen?

10:00

Speaker 2
Amen.

10:01

Speaker 1
Okay. So the New Jerusalem is green in color and it's also... So is God. Uh, go ahead and finish it off. There.

10:10

Speaker 2
"The one sitting on the throne, who is God, looks like jasper, and the entire city looks like jasper."

10:15

Speaker 1
The sister... The city of the New Jerusalem, because those of you that didn't hear yesterday's broadcast will need to know what we're talking about here. So the New Jerusalem in the Kingdom of Heaven looks like jasper because of the people that, uh, are composi-... The composition of the city is made up of the people that are members of the Body of Christ, and Christ is God. Christ is the, uh, Word of God. God is the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word is God. And so, the whole city, the New Jerusalem, uh, is, um... We, who are born again of the Spirit, who have taken on the image and likeness of God, also are revealed in the Book of Revelation to be greenish in color also, because we've taken on the likeness and the image of God, who l- looks like jasper, uh, in this, uh, chapter and then also in the book of, uh... Uh, the last book of, uh, the Bible, or the next to the last, uh, book where the New Jerusalem, the wh-...

11:23

Speaker 1
Entire walls, which are 1,500 furlongs high, are all made of jasper stone, or, uh, uh, it looks that way. In other words, it's just made of eternal life. The color of jasper is just symbolic of eternal life. All right? It's like it talks about One sat on the throne that is like a lamb. It's got four feet and a tail. That's symbolic of Jesus, but it's for sure Jesus doesn't have four legs and a tail. Amen?

11:57

Speaker 2
Amen.

11:57

Speaker 1
So it's ridiculous to think of Jesus that way, but it just shows that He is the true Lamb of God, the One who came into the world to die as a lamb-... uh, for the sins of the world, to take all of our former sins away. And that's a symbolic of Christ. Amen?

12:16

Speaker 3
Amen.

12:17

Speaker 4
Amen.

12:18

Speaker 1
So, uh, Christ is not a beast. Amen? He's God. All right?

12:25

Speaker 3
Amen.

12:25

Speaker 1
Now, these are just symbols and his wi- his hair is, uh, as white as snow. And now, our wool is not w- wool, like wool, but it's just white like wool. There's a lot of Black people think that, uh, Jesus is Black, but he's not. He's a Jew. Okay? Hmm. The woman at the well said, "How is it that you, being a w- a Jew, speak with me?" Because it was an abomination for Jews to speak to the Samaritans. All right? And the Bible gives the lineage of Jesus Christ, that he's the... And it goes, dates all the way back to Adam. And he's the seed of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the root of Jesse, the lion of the tribe of Judah. And these are all Jews. All right? Okay, so n- next, it's not any lineage of Black people at all. It's all Jews. Jesus is a Jew. God is a Jew. And these antisemitic people, I'd hate to be in your boots at the judgment by our God, because the only way you're gonna get into the Kingdom of Heaven is to kneel down before the world's greatest Jew.

13:44

Speaker 1
If you don't, you cannot become a spiritual Jew. You have to become a spiritual Jew to enter the Kingdom of God. All right? Now, I'm Jewish and my skin is not black, it's green. They say, they say that we have, in the Middle East, olive-colored skin. It's kinda greenish. And, you know, the people of Israel are m-m-miracles, because we came out of a dead woman's womb and a dead man's loins. So, that means that we've been raised out of the dead, from the dead. That makes us a very miraculous people. That makes us God's chosen people 'cause we're the people of promise. And it's a very big sin for Black people, or Norwegians, or anyone, to say that they're God's chosen people, because you are not. The Bible tells us who God's chosen people are. They came from Sarah and Abraham, Jews. All right? And, but you can become a spiritual Jew and get into the Kingdom of the Heaven just the same way. It's good to have this knowledge, because it's horrible to go around with false doctrine in you.

15:01

Speaker 1
Uh, it's better to know the truth, because only the truth can save. Only the truth can set you free. And those that believe in Jesus, the world's greatest Jew, they believe in him and he sets them free. And when he does, they're free indeed. Amen?

15:17

Speaker 3
Amen.

15:17

Speaker 4
Amen.

15:18

Speaker 1
Okay, let's go.

15:19

Speaker 4
This shows that the meaning of Genesis 1:26 has been fulfilled. "Let us make man in our image."

15:27

Speaker 1
So, yeah, so we're in the same image of God. He's chestier in color and so is the New Jerusalem. And we, with ch- Christ, are the New Jerusalem. The Bible also talks, it's another picture shown to John, of, um, the woman sitting in the heavens with, uh, th- uh, 12 stars in her crown. And that she's got the moon at her feet and the sun above her. And lot of people think that this is Israel and that the man-child she bi- gives forth, the man-child, uh, and the man-child is, r- raptured, so to speak, up into the Kingdom of Heaven. Well, if you're taken up into the Kingdom of Heaven, I guess you could call that raptured. And Jesus was raptured up into the Kingdom of Heaven, but it's not talking about that at all. It's talking about the Old Testament prophets. It's talking about patriarchs. It's talking about the, um, apostles and it's talking ab- uh, in the New Testament, in the New Testament, um, believers.

16:38

Speaker 1
And they, uh, the combination of Christ and us are the man-child, because we are in the body of Christ and we all get taken up. And this woman... I'll explain that further in the New... Uh, I haven't written that up yet, but I'll explain it in greater detail a little bit later on, because it's good to know that this is... A lot of people will say, "If that's Israel, then, uh, because Christ came fr- out of Israel, he's a Jew." But still, all of us are Israelites that believe. Not all Israel is Israel, the Lord told the Apostle Paul. So, Israel is, um, made up now of people of every nation, anyone that believes and kneels before the world's greatest Jew, Jesus Christ. Amen?

17:37

Speaker 3
Amen.

17:38

Speaker 4
Amen.

17:38

Speaker 1
And so, the woman, uh, is, uh, not the Israel over in the Middle East alone. She is the, the culmination of every believer since the beginning of time, up to, to the New Testament believers. And the man-child is, uh, that was, uh, delivered up, is the entire body of Christ with Jesus, beca- We can't get into heaven unless we're in Jesus-He has to abide in us. God's life has to be living in us, and that's what this message is about, is how to have God's life living in you, and it's through Christ that, uh, God imparts His life into us and through us. Okay, then what? And to others through us.

18:30

Speaker 4
Man, man wants to be God's expression. This is fulfilled in the New Jerusalem. The entire New Jerusalem is the image, the expressed image, of God.

18:40

Speaker 1
Well, it's fulfilled in the Church, because we are to walk in this world as the Church, expressing Christ, or letting Christ express Himself in and through us. All right, then what? And He can only do that when He lives in us. Okay, then what?

18:59

Speaker 4
God's appearance or description here is given with one sign, one picture. The sign, the picture of Jasper, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. In Revelation chapter five, verse five, Jesus is called the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. This title is a sign or picture which shows Jesus as being the conquering, triumphant King of Kings.

19:24

Speaker 1
A lion.

19:25

Speaker 4
And Lord of Lords.

19:26

Speaker 1
Mm-hmm. You never want to mess with a lion, if you don't believe anything else I say. Don't mess with a lion, okay? Because they'll eat you up, all right? And what else? Because they're the king of the beasts. Okay? The Bible says that. All right, then what else?

19:47

Speaker 4
All living creatures have been put under Him. No one can stop Him. Instead, He defeats and subdues everyone and everything. The Lamb. Christ is depicted-

19:59

Speaker 1
Okay, so he's, uh, depicted as a lion, a lamb. He has many lane- uh, names, and he, uh, appears many different ways, like Jasper. Amen?

20:09

Speaker 4
Amen.

20:10

Speaker 1
So you have to get the entire, all the pictures put together. It might get through that skull of yours. One of the pictures, amen?

20:18

Speaker 4
Amen.

20:19

Speaker 1
The Lord throws even, everything at us in hopes that one of the messages will get through, that the Lord wants to contact our spirits to bring it to life. Okay, then what else?

20:33

Speaker 4
Christ is depicted as a lion and also a lamb, chapter five, verse six of Revelation. Satan, all of the Lord's enemies know Jesus as a lion, but to those of us who are redeemed, He is a lamb.

20:49

Speaker 1
Right, if you're the, an enemy of the Lord, He's going to get you like a lion would get, uh, a weaker prey. You're weaker than Him. But to those that love the Lord, He's a lamb to us. He doesn't, uh, hurt us. Amen. He helps us. And I'm glad to have Him on my side. Okay, then what else?

21:10

Speaker 4
We are commanded to fear God and keep His commandments. It is the whole duty of man. The lamb is our savior, who cannot harm us if we accept Him and follow Him to the end. We fear the lion and love the lamb. We love and fear both sides of Him. The lamb does not have four feet and a tail. The Book of Revelation is a book of signs, pictures, symbols. The spirit of man is different from his soul. This is a fact from the Bible. Hebrews chapter four, verse 12.

21:49

Speaker 4
Quote, "For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joint-"

22:00

Speaker 1
Okay, so it says soul and spirit, so there's, that's two different items, right?

22:05

Speaker 4
Yes.

22:06

Speaker 1
Okay, the, the, then that's what I'm saying. It's the soul is different than the spirit. Otherwise the Lord wouldn't differentiate the soul and the spirit, okay? And the body, the soul, and the spirit. If you live according to the body, you're like a beast. If you live according to the soul, you could be, uh, from almost any religion. You could be a kind person, and you could be very, uh, soft-spoken, and, uh, never have any, uh, body but friends, but, uh, you're just, uh, the middle ground. But if you live by the spirit, then you're a saint. Okay? There's a difference between a beast and a gentleperson and a saint. Okay? So you've got a body, which is like, if you live according to it, you're like a beast. You've got a soul, where if you live according to the soul, I mean, you have desires and wants and you, uh, wishes, and you, uh, have feelings from, from your soul.

23:18

Speaker 1
And, uh, if you live according to that you can just be nice and, uh, kind to people, but, uh, you still need the spirit of God living in you, and God has given us a spirit so that He can contact us. And He has, He is a spirit so that we can contact Him. All right? So if you live by the spirit, you're a saint. Live by the flesh, you're a beast, with hair. Okay, go ahead.

23:53

Speaker 4
First Thessalonians chapter five, verse 23. "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly, and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless."

24:05

Speaker 1
See, there's three: the spirit, the soul, and the body. Amen?

24:10

Speaker 4
Amen.

24:11

Speaker 1
Read it again.

24:12

Speaker 4
And the very God of Peace sanctify you wholly, and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless until the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

24:23

Speaker 1
Well, in order for the body and the soul to be blameless, you have to live by the spirit, and when the spirit of God is in your spirit, then your spirit with God's power in your spirit with, by His spirit can put down and cause your soul and your body to live a saint's life. But if you let the body control your spirit, then you're gonna live the life of a beast, like you see most of the people living today. All right? You either see them living like beasts or like gentlewomen and gentlemen, but very few saints that live by the spirit. Okay, go ahead. Then what?

25:09

Speaker 4
Our life experience tells us the same. Our mind wants to own something. You-

25:16

Speaker 1
Yeah, like our mind says, "Oh, I see, uh, uh, something that I like." Then what?

25:22

Speaker 4
You might really crave it and want to have it, own it. Your emotion tells you this.

25:28

Speaker 1
That is from the soul. Your emotions, your feelings, says, "I want it. I want get." Then what?

25:38

Speaker 4
Then your will tells you to buy it.

25:40

Speaker 1
And the will is in your soul, and your soul says, "Get it and get it now." Okay, maybe a 12-pound box of chocolates or a 20-pound box. Okay, then what else?

26:00

Speaker 4
Your mind thinks of it, that it is good.

26:03

Speaker 1
It desires it, lusts for it, 'cause that's from your soul. The mind is controlled by the soul, but we have to control our mind by our spirit, amen?

26:15

Speaker 4
Amen.

26:15

Speaker 1
Okay, then what?

26:17

Speaker 4
The emotion loves it.

26:19

Speaker 1
Yes, the emotion is also in the soul, the feelings, the happiness or the unhappy. Everything is soulish, okay? "It's nice," people think, but it's not saintly. And nice doesn't get into Heaven. A spirit that worships the Lord by spirit and in truth gets into Heaven, amen?

26:47

Speaker 4
Amen.

26:47

Speaker 1
Then what?

26:48

Speaker 4
Our will decides to get it.

26:51

Speaker 1
"Get it and get it fast." I remember my mother, when a certain, uh, Dr. IQ would come on, they were sponsored by, uh, Mars Bars and Snickers and all that and Phillip Morris Cigarettes and Milky Way Candy Bars. And when she'd hear that thing coming on, that radio broadcast, she'd say, "Bernie, get to the store quick. Get me a pack of Phillip Morris and a, uh, a Milky Way Candy Bar." She was so easily influenced. Her s- soul would crave (coughs) anything. She'd hear this Johnny saying something about, uh, "Get some Phillip Morris, and when you sink your teeth into a chocolate candy bar with the creamy nougat and caramel..." She'd, "Get to the store quick." I said, "Yeah, Mom," and I'd run about four blocks away to where there was a little neighborhood grocery store and I'd say, "Hurry, quick." (laughs) And the guy knew what it was 'cause every s- time that that program would come on, it'd be about the same time.

28:08

Speaker 1
He'd just hand me a pack of Phillip Morris and a s- uh, Milky Way Candy Bar, and I'd have to run back home. And, uh, she'd, uh, just as soon as she, uh, he- he'd hear the advertisement again midway, she'd, uh, have a cigarette going and she'd bite right through the chocolate, the nougat, and the caramel and just chew it like, uh, in ecstasy. So anyway, this is the soul, right?

28:39

Speaker 4
Right.

28:40

Speaker 1
And the mind just picks up on all these suggestions that you hear on television, just like the kids when they watch these commercials of, uh, you know, uh, Captain Crunch and all this garbage that they're buying. You know, you should not let 'em listen to that if you want 'em to be healthy. I mean, they're all winding up now with, uh, sugar diabetes, you know, and they're fat as, uh, little piglets. Okay, then what?

29:08

Speaker 4
Something else tells us not to do it. This voice is the spirit.

29:11

Speaker 1
Is the spirit, 'cause the spirit is if you're u- united with the Lord, it says, "Don't." Okay? And it's, uh, you've got that voice talking to you now and then. Okay, then what?

29:26

Speaker 4
This voice is the spirit, which is the deeper part of our tripartite being. This is the difference between soul and spirit.

29:35

Speaker 1
That's what soul, body, and spirit. (coughs) 'Cause the body goes along either with the soul, or it'll go along with the spirit. If you have a strong spirit united with the Lord, the body will do what you want the spirit wants it to do. But if you don't, if you don't have a, um, a close contact with the Lord, well, then the only thing that's speaking to your body is the soul, and it's full of lust. Amen?

30:04

Speaker 4
Amen.

30:04

Speaker 1
The body just goes right along with the program. Okay, then what?

30:09

Speaker 4
The best part of man is his spirit. The worst part is the body. The mid part is the soul.If we live according to the body, we are the lowest, like an animal, if by the spirit, the highest. The middle, we may be smart, logical, full of reason and knowledge. Still, this is according to the soul. If you're a body person, you're an animal, a spiritual person, you are a saint. If you're a soul person-

30:44

Speaker 1
No, there's no in between. It's just the soul is in between, and it's gonna go for whoever overpowers it. The body overpowers the soul or the soul overpowers the body, or the spirit's gonna over- overcome both the body and the soul. Okay? Then what?

31:02

Speaker 4
If you're a soul person-

31:03

Speaker 1
I remember the song, "I'm for you, body and soul." But it doesn't mention the spirit. Amen?

31:13

Speaker 4
Amen.

31:13

Speaker 1
But I'm for you, those of you out in radio land, by the spirit. Amen?

31:19

Speaker 4
Amen.

31:19

Speaker 1
I want you to go to heaven, and you'll want to, you'll be happy that you did if you will, if you let your spirit rule your life from the Spirit of God in it. Okay? Because your spirit is dead without the Spirit of God. Then what?

31:37

Speaker 4
If you're a soul person, you may seem good, but you are only religious. God is the only spirit for man to contact Him and for us to receive Him. God is the only spirit for us to get ahold of Him and to receive Him into us, and we have a spirit to contact God and contact Him so that man may have a real union with Him.

32:06

Speaker 1
Yeah, it has to be an organic union. I mean, you know, it can't have, uh, bug spray on it. It has to be organic. A real, true, uh, union with God. No soul mixed up with it. No body mixed up with it. It has to be all spirit 'cause the Lord is spirit and life, Jasper. Eto- eternal life, immortality. Then what? Okay, read then-

32:39

Speaker 4
John, chapter four, verse 24.

32:42

Speaker 1
Okay, let them get it.

32:43

Speaker 4
Okay.

32:45

Speaker 1
When they get it in the room here, I assume the people in radio land have it. Let me know when you have it. John what?

32:52

Speaker 4
Chapter four, verse 24.

32:54

Speaker 1
Okay, they've got it. So, out there in radio land, you have, must have it too. Okay, read what the John, uh, it says.

33:02

Speaker 4
God is a spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

33:08

Speaker 1
Not in soul or in body. Amen.

33:11

Speaker 4
Amen.

33:12

Speaker 1
But your spirit is what contacts God, and his spirit contacts you. Then what?

33:20

Speaker 4
Then, uh, First John, chapter four, verse 15.

33:24

Speaker 1
Now, I can just hear people out there. "You better not be putting us on any trip 'cause we only live once, and you're going to say that we have to deprive ourselves from the things of this world, the things that we crave, the things that we love. Is that what you're saying?" No, God says that. Amen?

33:45

Speaker 4
Amen.

33:48

Speaker 1
You're not to be united with anyone unless they are spiritual. Okay? You're not to be unequally divided, um, like, uh, to be married. If you're a spiritual person, you can't be married to a soulful person or a person that, uh, lives by the body. That's a beast. You both must worship the Lord the same. Okay, then what?

34:19

Speaker 4
First John, chapter four, verse 13. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his spirit.

34:30

Speaker 1
Yes. That's how to have God's life living in you, 'cause he has given us, or you, his spirit to strengthen you and give you power over your soul and over your body. Okay? Then what?

34:48

Speaker 4
Then Second Timothy, chapter four, verse 22.

34:51

Speaker 1
So, this is what God is saying to you. I didn't make this up. Okay, then what? Did you find it? Okay, then start reading it.

35:03

Speaker 4
The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be unto you. Amen.

35:08

Speaker 1
Right. It doesn't say, "Be with your soul."

35:11

Speaker 4
No.

35:14

Speaker 1
With your spirit, because your spirit is the highest form of your life. That's why I'm having her read these souls, uh, these scriptures pertaining to your spirit, the highest level of life. You don't have life unless you're in union with the Lord, spirit. Okay, then what?

35:37

Speaker 4
First Corinthians, chapter six, verse 17.

35:43

Speaker 1
Okay, I pray that you're looking for that. Did you find it? Okay, we have one person, two people that found it, three, four, and the rest. Okay, then read it.

35:57

Speaker 4
But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

36:01

Speaker 1
Oh, not part spirit and part soul. No, you're just one spirit. And there's only one spirit that will get you into the kingdom of heaven, and that's the Spirit of God, and your spirit being united with His Spirit. And then use His Spirit in you, in your spirit, to put, to mortify your flesh, your body, and your soul.... your, all these desires of Philip Morris, Milky Ways, or whatever else you might, um, desire that isn't gonna be healthy for your body and for your soul. You want your body to be in good shape, so your spirit has to make it do it. You have to make your body and your soul do what the Spirit of God in your spirit wants it to do. You have to be disciplined. You have to discipline yourself to be disciplined by the Holy Spirit, and that can only happen when the Holy Spirit is in your spirit and you have the determination, the will from your soul, to do the will of God, or if you don't, you're gonna be doing the will of yourself, and that will not get you to heaven.

37:22

Speaker 1
And you don't know that you won't die tonight. You don't know if you're gonna see another, t- that the sun'll rise tomorrow for you. Okay? Then what else?

37:32

Speaker 4
There would be no way to contact us if God were not spirit, and we would never be able to contact him. God is the Father and the source. Jesus is the course. God the Spirit is the flowing to ?<|agent|><|en|>

37:48

Speaker 1
The course? Why do I say that? Well, it's because our course is to be set by the Word of God, and Jesus is the Word of God. Okay? So, we have to set our course according to the Word of God. We have to live our life according to the Word of God. Amen. Read that again.

38:09

Speaker 4
God is the Father and the source. Jesus is the course. God the Spirit is the flowing to reach us.

38:19

Speaker 1
Yeah, the flowing or the cascading of God's Spirit from beneath the throne of the Lord comes down to us and gives us power on a daily basis to do what the Lord says so that we can enter the Kingdom of Heaven and not be rejected at the judgment bar of God and sent into the lake of fire on the day of judgment. Okay, then what?

38:47

Speaker 4
2 Corinthians 13:14.

38:51

Speaker 1
Let me find it. Okay.

39:02

Speaker 4
"The grace of the Lord, Jesus Christ..."

39:04

Speaker 1
In other words, the power of the Lord Jesus Christ, okay?

39:09

Speaker 4
"... and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen."

39:15

Speaker 1
Okay, the power of God and the love of God, which is the, the keeping of His commandments, and the peace of God will be with you if you're living according to the spirit, not the soul or your body. Okay, then what?

39:32

Speaker 4
So, to reach the divine trinity, we need God's Spirit. God reaches us in the Son as the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 2:18 says, "For through Him, we both have access in one Spirit unto the Father."

39:52

Speaker 1
So, we have access. We're able to get to the Father through Christ 'cause Christ is now the abiding Spirit in our spirit. He is the abiding comforter that teaches us all things, and he gives us the unction of what we need to pray to God for. All right? So, read that again.

40:19

Speaker 4
Ephesians 2:18 says, "For through Him, we both have access in-"

40:24

Speaker 1
Through Christ, we both, Christ and, and I, or you, have access. Okay, then what?

40:31

Speaker 4
"... in one Spirit unto the Father." The Spirit is our access to contact God, receive God, and contain God!

40:43

Speaker 1
Yeah, we're able to have God contained in us. Our whole body needs to be filled with God so that... And in this way, it is, uh, God's Spirit keeps our soul under control and our body mortified or deadened, and all these desires, feelings, and, uh, things that are of no value, to keep them buried. Then what?

41:13

Speaker 4
This, so God and man may have a true, real union. Our union with God is real. We exist together. He in us and we in him. In John 1:5, the Lord said, "Abide in me and I in you."

41:38

Speaker 1
So, we have to live in the Lord, and the Lord has to live in us. Well, how does that happen? Well, you have Him, you just pray to Him. That's how it happens. Okay, then what?

41:51

Speaker 4
Chapter 15, verse four. "Abide in me and I in you. As, as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself except it abide in the vine, no more can ye except ye abide in me." John 4:15-16 tells of God abiding in us, and us in God. It is only after regeneration that we have God living in us as our life and nature in union with God. This is the Bible's revelation which concerns God and man.

42:26

Speaker 1
Right. Uh, bi- this woman at the well, eh, the Samaritan lady, uh, she's talking about earthly w- water that we get from the earth. But the book of Genesis tells it, there's a separation from the waters in heaven and the water here on earth, and the water in heaven is the Holy Spirit that abides in those of us that are born again of the Spirit. All right? Okay, so read that back, just what you just said.

42:51

Speaker 5
"This is the Bible's revelation which concerns God and Man."

42:56

Speaker 1
Right, because God must live in man in order for us to be saved, because when He enters our spirit... dead spirit, it becomes resurrected. And so, if we allow His resurrected power, His resurrection power, the power of the Spirit from above or the living water, uh, live in us on a daily basis, well, then He abides in us and we're abiding in Him. He's able to contact us and we're able to contact Him only by the Spirit. Our spirit to Him, and His Spirit to us. All right? And that is God living in us. All right. Then what?

43:42

Speaker 5
"We need to know God and our relationship with Him, to know Him and us."

43:48

Speaker 1
Right. We need to know our relationship with the Lord. We need to know that we're actually, eh, in union with Him. Not the labor union, but the union of God living in us and Him living, uh, and us living in Him. We are the temple of God, and God, uh, wants to live in us as His temple here on Earth, or a vehicle that He can drive us wherever He wants to go, and then minister whatever He wants to minister to whoever He wants to minister to. All right. Then what?

44:26

Speaker 5
Hm.

44:27

Speaker 1
Okay. That's all I've written today, but read that last line, because I didn't explain it all.

44:36

Speaker 5
"We need to know God and our relationship with Him."

44:39

Speaker 1
Okay. Do you know what your relationship with the Lord is?

44:46

Speaker 5
No.

44:46

Speaker 1
Do you? So, we need to know our relationship with the Lord. No, we need to know that we're set here, and we can know that by knowing God, the Word. Can't we?

45:05

Speaker 5
Yes.

45:05

Speaker 1
It's so horrible to look into the face of somebody that doesn't know their relationship to God, be-... That's scary. It's, uh, also scary to look into the face of somebody that you know is gonna go to Hell. That's horrible. Okay, now read some more.

45:26

Speaker 5
"We need to know God and our relationship with Him."

45:29

Speaker 1
Okay. We need to know God. Do you know what that means? Look at how long it takes people to answer. I'm asking you.

45:38

Speaker 5
Yes, sir.

45:39

Speaker 1
Okay. What is it?

45:41

Speaker 5
You know God by reading His Word.

45:44

Speaker 1
We need to know God with His Spirit living in us. Okay? Reading His Word, the Pope reads His Word, but he doesn't know Him. You have to know the Lord. I'm just talking about Him abiding in us, and, uh, us abiding in Him. And so you missed the boat. You're not answering correctly. Anybody can say, "By reading His Word." That doesn't get you to know the Lord. It helps you know the scriptures. But, uh, I knew the Lord because I have a special relationship with Him. He talks to me. He contacts me and I contact Him. Uh, He knows me because He lives in me and I live in Him. And I can tell, you know, because you like to read very fast and you don't really know what you're reading. And you just can't know the Lord by just s- skimming His Word like you do. You have to know Him. In other words, I can read about a person, but if I don't... Uh, or I can read a menu, but if I don't eat the food, I don't know what it tastes like, right?

47:05

Speaker 5
Mm-hmm.

47:05

Speaker 1
It doesn't enter my body, does it?

47:08

Speaker 5
No.

47:08

Speaker 1
And I can know a woman. I can, you know, talk to her and have a conversation with him, and even read all about 'em. There might be a story about 'em. But, uh, the Bible states to really know somebody, you have to be united with them. Could you be united with a person in marriage if you never had a relationship with them, if you never knew them as the Bible says know them-

47:32

Speaker 5
Mm-hmm.

47:33

Speaker 1
... to have a physical relationship with them? You don't know anything just by reading something. I can read the newspaper about all sorts of people, but I don't know those people. I just hear stories about them. The stories could be false or they could be true. And that's what a lot of the people, like Sanford White says. He says, "Well, we just need to read and pray." No, you have to have a relationship with the Lord, because a lot of people pray. The Pope prays. Amen?

48:12

Speaker 5
Amen.

48:13

Speaker 1
And, uh, all sorts of people pray. The president prays, and yet he bombs people. He doesn't know the Lord, and he ta- talks about Jesus, but I'm talking about... Read that again.

48:27

Speaker 5
"We need to know God."

48:29

Speaker 1
Yeah, to know Him. I can go in the restaurant and read every menu in this town, Los Angeles, but I don't know if the food's any good or not unless I personally taste it, right?

48:41

Speaker 5
Mm-hmm.

48:43

Speaker 1
So, I can know what the menu says. I can go down to Do Par's Restaurant and I know it says chicken pot pie. I can go down to Muso Frank's Restaurant and it says chicken pot pie. But if I don't order one and eat it, I don't know what it tastes like, right?

49:01

Speaker 2
Mm-hmm.

49:01

Speaker 1
You have to taste of the Lord, as it says in the first chapter of Romans. You have to experience the Lord. You have to, uh, live in Him and Him live in you. "Just read and pray, read and pray." That's a real stock answer that my little four-year-old girl can, uh, say. And all the little four-year-old kids in this church can say, "Oh, we have to read and pray." No, but I'm talking about something deeper. The Lord has to abide, the Spirit of God has to abide in us as the comforter to tell us, to talk with us, and He walks with me and He talks with me. Now, you're saying you're just reading Him, but you're not talking about Him talking to you.

50:00

Speaker 2
Yeah.

50:00

Speaker 1
And it's doubtful that He ever has or that you've ever really talked to Him believing that He's really there, because your answer is coming up foul. It's stinking. Now, you say, "Bi- what kind of a pastor are you talking to, wanting to hear a congregation like that?" Well, you know, I like to be like Jesus. When Peter was, um, talking crazy, he says, "God forbid that you should be crucified and shed your blood so people can get saved," in so many words. And Jesus said, "Get thee behind me, Satan. You're an offense to me. You don't know me. When you get to know me, when you get, become converted, when you don't just read and pray or listen to what I'm saying, but then you get to know me when my spirit lives in you. Right now, Satan is sifting you, friend. But to me, you're the Devil. You're saying things, the Devil is using your mouth, than me. I'm not the one using your mouth. It's the Devil using your mouth.

51:22

Speaker 1
And you just like to glaze over things, read real fast like you're intelligent or something." There is no intelligence unless it's the Lo- you're communing, communing, communicating with the Lord and the Lord is communicating with you. Now read the rest of it slowly.

51:39

Speaker 2
We need to know God and our relationship with Him to know Him and us.

51:46

Speaker 1
To know Him and ourselves, because you really don't know yourself. When you are, uh, you know the Lord and you're communicating to Him, He shows you about yourself. And so unless that's happening, you don't even know yourself, what you are and, uh, what, uh, on a scale from one to 10, where you stand with the Lord. A lot of people say, you know, they know the Lord and they don't even know Him at all and He doesn't know them, because they don't communicate with Him, and this is what this message is about here, is communicating with the Lord, with the Spirit. Doesn't, didn't I say that you have to be in union and you didn't even get the message? Y- Union means you're united in marriage together. You get used to each other's breath. All right, I see my time is up, uh, for this broadcast.

52:54

Speaker 1
And if you would really like to know the Lord instead of just read and pray, read and pray and then, then just la-dee-da, hickory dickory dock, and say you want to be in union with the Lord, well then let's get unionized right now. Let's go up to the throne and ask Him to enter into your body, to unite Himself with you, and by you calling out to Him, uh, with your spirit. Let your spirit wake up and call unto Him. Say unto Him, "My Lord and my God, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of the living God, and I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. I open up the door of my heart and I invite you into my heart, Lord Jesus. Wash all my filthy sins away in the precious blood that you shed for me. You will not turn me away, Lord Jesus. You will save my soul, I know, because Your word says so.

54:01

Speaker 1
Your word says that You'll turn no one away, that You'll unite Yourself with those that really want to be u- united with You and know You, and You can know them, because You say at the Judgment Bar of God that, 'Depart from me, you wicked. I never knew you,' to those that are in the Christian work and yet they never knew You and You never knew them. So, Father, I know You've heard me and I know You've answered me, and You said You'd turn no one away. All that call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. For I know You've heard me and now You've answered me and I'm saved. And I thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving my soul." Now, just praise and thank the Lord and give Him all the glory. And also, tell them now how to get a copy of this tap- tape or CD, number 160. This is program 160. Just, just the website, please.

55:00

Speaker 2
Alamoministries.com.

55:02

Speaker 1
Okay. Now, this was not one of the fanciest messages that I've ever brought, but it's one that I hope you gotta, got, uh, because I want you to know the Lord, and the Lord wants you to know Him. And you should want to know Him too, because there's magnificent benefits in Him. So, make sure, uh, you tune in tomorrow for Part 59, five nine, of How to Have God's Life Living in You. And until tomorrow, this is World Pastor Tony Alamo saying God bless you and praise the Lord. Amen.
