Cliff and Jeani Poe are college sweethearts who have been married for over 50 years and have navigated the different seasons of life and relationships. After 17 years together, their marriage imploded. Trust was broken and had to be rebuilt if they were to continue as a couple. They lacked the tools and skills to rebuild their hurting relationship.

Although one counselor told them they should get a divorce, they decided to fight for their relationship and build a new marriage – one that would be healthy and mutually fulfilling. This began a journey to discover the best tools to rebuild their marriage. It wasn’t easy!

As Jeani often says, “Creating a good marriage is the hardest job you’ll ever love.” Indeed, as they worked to rebuild their life together, they faced job loss, bankruptcy, an empty nest, health issues, and loss of their home and community. Far from having a perfect life or marriage, they continue to grow and face challenges together.

Their passion is helping other couples live a life they will love with the love of their life! Their motto is, “You don’t have to – you get to!”

When the Poe’s are not helping couples, they enjoy spending time with their adult son and daughter and their families, which include six grandchildren and a Golden Retriever.

Their coaching style focuses on sharing their experiences and speaking the truth in love. Their depth of experience allows them to be nonjudgmental as they encourage couples to follow practical and actionable steps to growth and healing.

Their relationship philosophy is to love and be loved unselfishly and unconditionally.

As they have coached couples across three decades, they have learned that most marital problems come from selfishness. “If I can forget myself and my needs and focus on you and what you need, it frees me to love unselfishly and unconditionally. To do that requires trusting God to see that my needs are met.”

Bio of Sarah Siegand from her website: parentswhofight.com

Hi! We’re Jesse and Sarah Siegand, and we make our home in Nashville, TN.  We started Parents Who Fight in 2015 as a campaign to bring awareness to parents about the dangers kids encounter online every day. We have been married over 26 years, and we have two nearly-grown sons. Over the past 10 years, we've led our family with the tech-intentional practices we teach to others, and our boys are actually thankful, on the other side. As Christian parents with vocational and volunteer ministry experience, we feel uniquely equipped by the Holy Spirit to help the Church push back on the "norms" society has created about how families, kids, and teens use technology.

How We Got Started

When our kids started to relay information about classmates viewing pornography and having their own smartphones in the first and third grades, we began researching what more could be done to protect our family from dangers online. Our research led us to a national conference where we learned from top experts in online safety, and a fire was lit to bring this information to others. Armed with practical knowledge and a passion for protecting kids, the Lord led us to present a simple workshop at our boys’ public elementary school, and Parents Who Fight was born. Since then, we’ve been asked to speak to other schools, churches, and community groups about the importance of understanding the various dangers online and how parents can fight to protect their kids’ healthy futures.

Currently...

In 2024, we sensed an urgency to focus on bringing our message to the Church. Prominent voices in this movement point to the fact that the Church is remarkably positioned with a common vision, morality, and leadership to be able to make a significant shift in culture. This is our current aim.

People say that our passion to fight for families and kids is contagious… we sure hope so! We need parents and churches everywhere to join the fight so collectively we can turn the tide. We want to come alongside you with tools, encouragement, and truth to help you protect the healthy futures of the kids in your life.

Guest Biography:

Mason is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and music producer. Born in 1975, third generation folk musician Mason Lucas began his music career in the New York ska scene in the late 1980s. His travels as a musician, philanthropist and spiritual seeker have lead him on a journey through a score of countries, some of which he’s called home.

His musical offerings are a mercurial journey which regale the listener with characters and landscapes both inner and outer. Stylistically and tonally diverse, he is a chameleon who resides between the classic American genres of his upbringing and something uniquely his own. Whether the song is acoustic, electric and/or electronic, the listeners’ question is that of the musician himself. Who is this artist? Who am I? Who are we? Is there even a “we” at all.

Formerly chauffeur to Chuck Berry, he has fronted the band Sky Island since 1989.
