RADIO TONI Every Day Business with Grant Wood and Toni Lontis

Woodzie’s Story

Grant is a qualified P.E teacher and massage therapist with more than 40 years’ experience in the health and fitness space. Earlier in his life he played provincial-level rugby in New Zealand and was a high-performing adventure, mountain and endurance runner.

As a result of these high-impact activities he suffered significant and debilitating injuries in his early 40s, including herniated discs, hip flexor and neck problems, and issues with his knee and ankle joints. The extreme pain and loss of function he experienced set Grant on a new course looking for exercise that was effective in building strength, mobility and flexibility with low to no impact
Guest, CJ Hitz

After running in the 1988 State Cross Country meet in Eugene, Oregon as a high school sophomore, CJ gave up running for nearly 20 years before being drawn back into the sport.

CJ caught the “running bug” in 2008 and has not looked back since. He’s dropped over 50 pounds in weight and continues to get faster each year (so far). CJ has competed in well over 150 races ranging from road 5Ks to trail 50Ks. He’s a national class masters runner who enjoys a fast road 5k or a grueling mountain race with lots of elevation gain & loss. Basically, he just plain loves running.

CJ and his wife Shelley reside in Colorado Springs, CO where they are spoiled beyond measure with running trails and sunshine.

He is a USATF Certified Running Coach with a passion for long distance running. His primary interest is to help runners squeeze out more of their potential and ability by improving the quality of their training and nutrition. As his latest book is titled, CJ’s goal is to help runners “start off on the right foot” by implementing healthy habits that lead to a lifetime of successful running.

CJ has had the opportunity to train with and learn from some of the best runners in the country which allows him to share numerous techniques and tips that most runners are hungering to learn. As someone who loves to learn himself, CJ is constantly devouring books, magazines and websites in search of the most helpful and effective running instruction. He’s a student of the science of running.
