Our guest Anise Jenkins is the Executive Director of Stand Up! for Democracy in DC (Free DC).  Since its inception, Stand Up! / Free DC was the only grassroots organization in the District of Columbia focused primarily on the pursuit of statehood.  Recognizing that only through being admitted to the Union as a state, will DC residents be able to rise above the ongoing oppression by members of Congress.  This year, Stand Up!  is celebrating two decades of agitating, educating, organizing and mobilizing for DC statehood.

Join Internet radio host Dr. James Avington Miller Jr. for a deeper look at education and educators and how they are or are not a force to change the world. Is it too late or do we still have a chance to make a difference?  Or, is education's role to be the anti-change - the maintenance of the status quo? If we examine the contours in the history of American schooling, you will be surprised at the answers. Please join us and learn how, when, and how education and educators can change the world or keep it stagnant.
