What is Peace Brain? Peace Brain is a term that Dr. Gail Lash created to indicate a peaceful mind, body, spirit and world. Peace Brain is the synergistic connection between our mental and emotional bodies – the blending of the electrical power of the mind with the magnetic force of the heart. We humans cannot exercise our complete capabilities and innate gifts to manifest true Peace On Earth unless our Peace Brain is engaged, with these biological and spiritual centers working as one. Unity through Diversity is the goal.

Topics of Peace span the complete continuum of Science and Spirit – and so does The Peace Brain Show!  Listen and explore scientific and metaphysical concepts related to the human condition, animals and Nature, our relationship to Universal Energy and implementations of Peace worldwide with your Host, Dr. Gail Lash!

Drawing on her multifaceted background, Dr. Gail features guests who are Zoo and Aquarium leaders, Animal conservation partners, Community facilitators, social Justice organizations promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, National park operators, Metaphysicians, Energy healers, Angel workers, Animal communicators, and much more – all imparting their practical wisdom on how we each can create a world of Peace, Love, Justice and Beauty – manifesting “As Above So Below”.

From this, envision a map of the Earth being populated with “Places Of Peace” (markers and practices by these organizations and grassroots individuals) that when linked create Peace Trails around the world!  It is practical; it is powerful; it is possible!

The show is a one-hour format.  It begins with an opening quote and monologue segment by Dr. Gail, introducing the Peace topic for that show. This is followed by a 30 to 40-minute conversational interview with an amazing guest of note – done in the spirit of friendship, laughter, respect, contemplation and building community.  The show ends with a Peace Brain Meditation, in which Dr. Gail enables you to practice turning on and tuning into your Peace Brain!  Join us!

GAIL: Welcome to The Peace Brain Show! This is your Host, Dr. Gail Lash and I’m happy to have you here today!

Today we have Nina Roark with us, and a powerful topic of peace through non-violent communication, along with a transformative meditation at the end of the show!

But first, as always, I want to open the show with a quote. This quote is from songwriter and Emissary of Light, James Twyman.

He says: "Lasting peace will never come to a world that thinks it has a choice between peace and war. The only choice you ever really make is between truth and illusion. When you choose truth you discover that peace is always present, regardless of your awareness of its presence. When you choose illusion it is like closing your eyes to what is right in front of you. And this is what it means to wake up from the dream of separation. It's like opening your eyes. Reality was never compromised by your dream. It remained whole and unchanged while you made up your own world where hatred and fear seemed to have meaning."

QUESTIONS & CONVERSATION:

Peace ideas to share:

Nina states: My belief is that world peace starts with each individual being at peace within ourselves and those around us.  So how do we address this challenge??? We have many tools to assist us, NVC is only one of the many possibilities.

There are some basic understandings in NVC:

1. All actions are attempts to meet needs: Our desire to meet needs, whether conscious or unconscious, underlies every action we take. We only resort to violence or other actions that do not meet our own or others’ needs when we do not recognize the existence of more effective strategies for meeting needs.

In other words, we may choose a strategy to meet a need without conscious awareness of the need. How many have been trained to be aware of our needs in any moment and be able to name them, vs just react? We develop a strategy to meet the need.

Nina says, “Personally, I don’t recall ever being ask what I needed by my parents.  Luckily, they were pretty good at guessing!”

2. All human beings share the same needs: We all have the same needs, although the strategies we use to meet these needs may differ. Conflict occurs at the level of strategies coupled with interpretations, not at the level of needs.

Here is where we may risk losing the Peace.  We may even resist addressing the conflict, for fear of making it worse.

So the goal of keeping the peace lies in getting everyone’s need out and on the table.  Once there, we see the common needs and strategies easily come to mind as to how to meet our common needs. Win-Win is created.

So the question is, How do we discern our needs?

3. Feelings point to needs being met or unmet: Feelings may be triggered but not caused by others. Our feelings arise directly out of our experience of whether our needs seem to us met or unmet in a given circumstance. Our assessment of whether or not our needs are met almost invariably involves an interpretation or belief. When our needs are met, we may feel happy, satisfied, peaceful, etc. When our needs are not met, we may feel sad, scared, frustrated, etc.

So this is an “inside job”. It is our own work to do, regardless of what seems to be the problem on the outside.

The most direct path to peace is through self-connection: Our capacity for peace is not dependent on having our needs met. Even when many needs are unmet, meeting our need for self-connection can be sufficient for inner peace.

Sometimes this seems impossible. HOW DO WE SELF CONNECT???

4. Living in peace with unmet needs: We aim to make room for and embrace our feelings when we experience our needs as unmet, connecting with the needs rather than insisting on meeting them.

Or at least not meeting them in a specific desired way, by someone specifically.  There are many possibilities, that we may not think of immediately.

5. Our world offers abundant resources for meeting needs: When human beings are committed to valuing everyone’s needs, are able to discern how much they actually need, and have regained their skills for fostering connection and their creativity about sharing resources, we can overcome our current crisis of imagination and find ways to attend to everyone’s basic needs.

That sounds like PEACE.  We have CHOICE in every moment.  We can take RESPONSIBILITY for our part in the equation.

6. Choice is internal: Regardless of the circumstances, we can meet our need for autonomy by making conscious choices based on awareness of needs; at the very least in terms of the choice of the meaning we assign to the circumstances.

In other words, what STORY am I telling myself that leads to the emotions I feel?   Watching our judgments is a good place to look.

7. Beyond "right" and "wrong": We aim to transform our habit of making "right" and "wrong" assessments (moralistic judgments), and to focus instead on whether or not human needs appear met (need-based assessments).

In other words, are we seeing the HUMANITY in all.  We all have the same needs.  We may just prioritize them in different orders at times.  So how do we assess our own and the other’s?  LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN,

8. Prioritizing connection: We aim to focus on connecting open-heartedly with everyone’s needs before seeking solutions, even in challenging situations, so as to increase the chances of a solution that works for all.

Ah. PEACE. A solution that works for all. Win-Win coming from all the needs out on the table.
