Former Police Officer and Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Social Worker

Dr. Conn is a former police officer, as well as the daughter and wife of police officers, and currently works as a Licensed Psychologist, specializing in first responder stress, trauma, and resilience. She supports first responder agencies with peer support, and mental health training. She contributes her expertise to national policy development relating to peer support and clinician cultural competency. She has presented widely to first responders, sharing wisdom gained from her police experience, her research, and her therapy practice. She is the author of Increasing Resilience in Police and Emergency Personnel. 
Craig is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in OR and WA. His clinical training is crisis and trauma focused. Craig did 7 seasons in wildland on handcrews, rappel and short-haul crews throughout the PNW with an additional 5 years as a volunteer with 3 years as a resident for a rural district outside of Kennewick, WA. Craig merged firefighting and mental health as he rode along with Spokane Fire Department as a ‘co-deployed’ first responder. In that role, he got a strong sense of the increasing level of difficulty some of the calls entail as he responded alongside a Spokane Fire paramedic to try to resolve emergency behavioral health calls.

Colorado Representative House District 15

Dave grew up in a military family where hard work and sacrifice were taught. It is here that he learned the importance of our country and its impact on the world. A deep commitment to faith, patriotism, and civic duty are the cornerstones of his upbringing, as well as continual sources of strength and guidance.

Dave met his wife, Emily, his senior year of high school. They dated during their early years of college and married shortly after. They had their first child in December 2016.

He has served in several leadership capacities in both small business and local politics. Dave currently serves as Vice-President of Logistics for a manufacturing support services company where he helps bring businesses together to find tailored solutions for their customers.

From 2011-2013, Dave served as Vice-Chairman of the El Paso County Republican Party. While serving, he showed a steadfast commitment to the cause of liberty and freedom. Dave believes we need to encourage and hold accountable our elected representatives to support such principles.

In 2016, Dave was the first Latino elected to House District 15. He is providing new energy and enthusiasm that will help strengthen our community and Colorado. Dave is committed to working with the grassroots to further the cause of liberty and ensure that freedom is passed on to future generations.

This month, Colorado Law is proud to honor prominent Denver-based alum, George Brauchler ('95). Brauchler is currently serving as the district attorney for the 18th Judicial District, the largest judicial district in the state with more than 930,000 residents in Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln Counties. A veteran litigator, Brauchler has taken more than 140 trials to verdict in state, federal, and military court over the past eighteen years, including several of the state’s most publicized cases. In addition, he has also been a regular adjunct faculty member of the University of Denver College of Law, Colorado Law, and the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy JAG Schools, earning a reputation as one of the most prolific lecturers and trainers on trial advocacy in the nation.

Brauchler, who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, has served as Chief of Military Justice for Fort Carson, and with the 4th Infantry Division and the U.S. Division-North in Iraq.

Chiefs and Company Officers from Fire, Law Enforcement, EMS, and Military

Chief Neil Gang  has served in law enforcement for over 34 years and has been the Chief of Police for the Pinole CA Police Department since 2014.

Chief Bobby Halton passed away in 2022. Bobby was a 40 year fire service veteran, author of over 400 Articles, and he delivered more than 1,000 speeches. At the time of his passing, Bobby was editor-in-chief of Fire Engineering magazine and Vice President of Education and Training for Clarion Fire & Rescue.

Cristian Hinojosa is a Battalion Chief with the Dallas Fire Department, and has led the DFD’s Peer Support Program, providing outreach and support to firefighters. 


Tom Rizzo  is currently serving as the Investigations Division Commander at the rank of Captain. A national instructor and trainer, Tom published a bestselling book called Copikaze, based upon a series of lessons to help navigate a career in law enforcement.


Jonni Redick is a retired Assistant Chief and a 29-year veteran with the California Highway Patrol (CHP), one of the largest police agencies in the country with over 12,000 employees. Her job was overseeing large-scale civil disturbance and officer-involved incidents; natural disaster response coordination and oversight; and managing hundreds of personnel within daily operations.

Rommie Duckworth is a career fire captain and paramedic EMS Coordinator for Ridgefield (CT) Fire Department. Rom is the author of chapters in EMS, fire, rescue, and medical textbooks and has over 100 published articles in fire and EMS magazines,

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Oakland McCulloch, is a nationally recognized keynote speaker and the author of Your Leadership Legacy: Becoming the Leader You Were Meant to Be. Oak’s leadership presentation and his book are based on his 40+ years of leadership experience (including 23 years as a combat arms officer in the United States Army).


Chief David Ogden has been a successful law enforcement executive for over 37 years. He’s led positive transformation by changing the culture in his agency.  Chief Ogden is a keynote speaker on leadership, organizational health, team building, and mental health.


Albe Bassett is the Fire Chief of the New Canaan (CT) Fire Department. He has 29 years of fire service experience, with many of those years training and developing firefighters and officers to become better for themselves and the communities in which they serve. Among his many certifications and degrees, Albe holds a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.


Nick Paproski is an award-winning paramedic and educator, with experience working in municipal, fire based, commercial and volunteer EMS systems. At the time of this interview, Nick served as the Director of Education, Safety and Wellness for Vintech Management Services, a 300 employee EMS staffing company based in CT.  

At the time of this interview, John Lynch was Chief of Police in Wilton CT, where John’s department had a 97% community approval rating. Currently, he is Chief of Police in the Town of New Shoreham, Rhode Island.
