COMPOST TEA - WHAT IS IT AND HOW DO I USE IT? Compost tea is one of the best tools that an organic gardener can make to control both pests and diseases. Why? Because it is one of the most effective ways of providing minerals and nutrients to the plant as they absorb it immediately into their system through their leaves (just like humans do through their skin). Join us to find out how to make it and use it!

This week we cover the problem of how to organically deal with Verticillium Wilt. Verticillium Wilt is a soil-borne fungal disease that can destroy vegetables, flowers and a wide variety of your trees (including the Coral Trees) and fruit trees. This disease causes the leaves of plants and trees to wither, and eventually, the plant dies. It can be a slow death taking a few years or months or even sooner. This is basically a soil mismanagement problem and should be addressed as such.

Question: I have 30 crepe myrtle trees that are infested with the ambrosia beetle. I just discovered them this spring, and my trees are still very healthy looking. If I use the Orange TKO and mineral oil treatment… do I paint the entire trunk of the infested tree or just the toothpicks protruding from the tree where the beetle made the hole? Please give me more direction for saving my trees.
