In honor of Black History Month, our guest is Charles 'Chuck' Hicks, who we call "Mr. Black History" here in DC. He is the founder and director of the DC Black History Celebration Committee https://dcblackhistory.com/ which celebrates black history year-round. Hicks is also a proud member of the NAACP and well known for providing 35 years of service to the DC Public Library’s Black Studies Center. Hicks is a supporter and advocate of the African American Civil War Memorial & Museum.
Black History Month 2018, Part 2 - The Importance of Black American Women. This week's show will explore the importance of Black American Women who helped change our country for more than 300 years. Dr. Miller provides examples of how Black American women contributed in developing America into a world leader and power. He will also be continuing his teachings on what it means to become a Positive Youth Development (PYD) School and how we can all engage in birthing a movement across this country to change the state of public education.
Black History Month 2018 Part 1 - The Fight for Black Education. Join us in examining some Critical Reflections on the 400 year Struggle for Black Education in America. This show will focus on some of the black women educator pioneers and their contributions to the education of black children. Dr. Miller will explain their struggle with racism and gender and how their efforts fit into the 400 year struggle. Dr.
