There is a growing ENGAGEMENT MOVEMENT spreading across the US and other parts of the world, from flagship research universities and colleges to Pre-K through 12th grades. For some, engagement is getting back to the basic, original PURPOSE of education, and for others it is the last hope to survive the war on PUBLIC education at all levels. But WHAT is engagement? HOW and WHY does it matter? Does engagement matter at all?
Representing the museum Barry McNealy, historian, experienced lecturer and tour guide, will be interviewed by show host, Dr. Lyn Hughes. McNealy,an experienced lecturer and tour guide registered with the Birmingham Convention Bureau as well as the Alabama State Department of Tourism and Travel. Barry also serves as program coordinator for, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute’s Legacy Youth Leadership Program, an educational program where teens are trained to be docents.
