Words Women and Wisdom Show Guest, Malaun Rice September 28, 2021
Victor, Speaker, Coach, Founder M-Drive

"Healing for your Soul"

Malaun Rice – Victor, Speaker, Coach

Founder - M-Drive

Malaun Rice is a sexual assault survivor. She was kidnapped and raped when she was 10 years old. From that point her light was dimmed. She dealt with anger, lack of self-worth, depression, and borderline alcoholism most of her adult life. One day her life crashed and she realized she needed help. Malaun began with therapy and started her journey of healing. Through this journey she learned self-love, the power of the word NO and what freedom means to her. The biggest come up in her journey is the relationship she has with God! Now, she is a life coach and speaker who blazes the trail to help others to begin the healing process.

Malaun Rice injects passion in everything she does.  As a thinker and a doer, she flourishes in anything that she does; bringing her commitment to delivering results to corporate and non-profit organizations.  For ten plus years, Rice built a record of success producing events, developing partnerships, and creating campaigns for influential brands such as Walt Disney World, Allstate Insurance, Clear Channel, McDonald’s and the United States Census Bureau.  On this path, she learned a great deal about managing clients and celebrities with a deft touch, the importance of consistent innovation, and the value of her natural ability to build mutually beneficial relationships.

After 10 years in Corporate America, Rice gave into her entrepreneurial leanings and founded M-Drive, a company specializing in transforming lives and changing mindsets for people to discover how to live their best lives. Not only did this move allow her to bring her complete portfolio of expertise to the marketplace - but it also provided the opportunity to do something that has been important to her since she was very young: lend spiritual and professional support to women.

To this end, Rice started Lioness Den, the non-profit arm of M-Drive that focuses on building up women who have been victims of sexual crimes and abuse, may have damaged self-esteem due to numerous attempts to render them powerless, or need mentorship to help them walk fully in their purpose.  Rice knows there is life after trauma; and is wholeheartedly dedicated to her goal to extend a helping hand to women globally via transitional homes that promote healing as well as economic and professional development programs.

Rice is a sought-after speaker who has captivated audiences at engagements held by organizations such as National Council of Negro Women, Morton College, Local First Arizona, Schaumburg Business Association, Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence and DuSable Museum and has been a guest contributor for media outlet WJYS-TV.  Rice has a BA in Business Administration with a Marketing Concentration from Governors State University in University Park, IL and a Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communications from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL.  She is a proud Chicago native, currently residing in Phoenix, Arizona, who enjoys indulging her fashionista tendencies by shopping at local boutiques in between client meetings and doing good for womanhood.

Shadow Politics Guest, Jennifer McClellan September 26, 2021
STATE SENATOR JENNIFER L. McCLELLAN Senate of Virginia (Democrat, District 9)

STATE SENATOR JENNIFER L. McCLELLAN

Senate of Virginia (Democrat, District 9)

As a daughter of community leaders and educators raised in the segregated South during the Depression, Jennifer McClellan was raised with a strong sense of servant leadership and a calling to strengthen her community. Her family’s experience and her study of history taught her that government can either be a force for progressive change to solve problems or a force of oppression that benefits a select few. At a young age, Jenn dedicated herself to ensuring government was that force of change for all.

For most of her life, Jenn has channeled those values into her commitment for progress, equity and justice in the Commonwealth. She has implemented those values as a leader in the community, the Democratic party and in her more than 14 years of service as a legislator in the Virginia General Assembly. Jenn currently serves as chair of Virginia’s Martin Luther King Jr. Commission.

Jenn gets things done. She has been a driving force for progressive change in Virginia, leading the passage of landmark laws to invest in education, grow small business, expand access to health care, ban discrimination and inequity, safeguard workers’ rights and voting rights, reform the criminal justice system, protect a woman’s right to choose and tackle climate change.

Jenn lives in Richmond with her husband, David Mills, and their two children, Jackson and Samantha.

Chuck and Julie Show Guest, John Lott Jr. September 24, 2021
American economist, history in politics, economics, gun rights advocacy

John R. Lott Jr. is an American economist with an extensive background and history in politics, economics and gun rights advocacy. His academic and professional career is lengthy and diverse, having worked at and written for a variety of educational institutions and publications across America. He has also authored several works on gun rights and economics covering the free-market theory.

John Lott was born in 1958 in Detroit, Michigan. His academic journey began at UCLA, where he received his Bachelors in Economics in 1980. He went on to obtain both his Masters and Ph.D. in the same field at UCLA in 1982 and 1984, respectively. From there, Lott went on to to work as an Economist and in the law field profession at the University of Maryland, Yale Law School, the University of Stanford, Texas A&M University, UCLA, Rice University and Wharton Business School. Outside of employment at these universities, Lott also worked as Chief Economist at the United States Sentencing Commission, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and a senior researcher at the University of Maryland Foundation.

Lott is most famous for his view on gun rights, including the right of gun ownership in The United States and the ability to carry a gun. He has received both praise and criticism for his views, making him a controversial economic and political figure. His most well-known works on gun rights include More Guns, Less Crime and The Bias Against Guns. In these works, Lott argues that the more guns Americans have, the less likely there will be crime. He stands strongly against strict gun restrictions and gun laws, claiming that only gun use used for violence is broadcast on the media, instead of guns used as defense. He believes this misrepresentation of gun use is unfair and a key factor in misinformation in proper gun use in America.

His arguments have landed him several roles as a political commentator. His op-ed pieces have been featured in a number of publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times and USA Today. He also contributed regularly to Fox News from 2008-2009, where he published works on such subjects as then-President Barrack Obama’s political and financial decisions, race problems in America, women’s rights, unemployment and the Great Recession of 2008, among other topics.

As of 2020, Lott continues to write political and economic pieces on his online blog. His blog posts continue to cover a range of political and economic topics, including the 2020 Presidential Election, racial protests in America, the Coronavirus pandemic and the change of gun laws in various states. Lott’s posts can also be found on the Crime Prevention Research Center website, which was founded and owned by Lott for several years. Lott hopes that more Americans can understand the use of guns in anti-violence prevention in the new decade.
