Our guest is DC's First Elected Representative Charles J. Moreland. On Thursday, September 19, 2019, the House Committee on Oversight and Reform will hold a hearing on H.R. 51 – the Washington, DC Admission Act – in their committee room, 2154 Rayburn. Rep. Moreland was in office when H.R. 51 – the New Columbia Admission Act – was held on July 26, 1993, before the House District of Columbia Subcommittee on Judiciary and Education. Charles and I will discuss the progression of these two H.R. 51 bills and the progress of the DC Statehood Movement over the past 26 years.
