The House of Representatives passed (232-180) H.R. 51, the Washington, DC Admission Act, on June 26, 2020. I'm pleased to look back at 1993 when Representative Charles Moreland was in office and H.R. 51, the New Columbia Admission Act, failed (153-277) on the House floor. Long-time statehood advocate Anise Jenkins, executive director of Stand Up! for Democracy in DC (Free DC), will help us reflect on the past and discuss where we might go from here.
