Guest, Howard Wulkan
Mr. Wulkan has a 25-year history in the Entertainment industry. His focus lies within the world of record labels, distribution, album production, mixing and arranging, original music composition for film/TV/web and music supervision/licensing. He has worked with such artists as Nirvana, Hole, Weezer, Portishead, UNKLE, poets Jim Carroll and William Burroughs (through the John Giorno foundation) and hundreds more. He started his career working for Universal Music and eventually moved to PolyGram, where he was awarded several gold and platinum records for sales & marketing. While at PolyGram, he helmed campaign efforts for UNKLE, Joan Jett’s “Blackheart Records” and many other artists and labels.
Mr. Wulkan was also Head of Sales & Marketing for 75 Ark, co-founder of Coup D’Etat, ran distribution for Rawkus (Mos Def, Blackstar), headed up sales at Earache and was the Director of Sales & Marketing for Warner Music Group's Cordless Recordings, working with Jac Holzman, founder of Elektra Records. Mr. Wulkan has consistently stayed on the cutting-edge of sales & marketing techniques, producing hundreds of millions of dollars in sales over his extensive history.
On the creative side, Howard is a recording artist and film composer. He worked in recording studios since graduating in 1987, working with such luminaries as Elliot Scheiner (Steely Dan), Hall & Oates, The Isley Brothers and many more. Wulkan is currently working on two full-length feature films, including a documentary about an AIDS Orphanage in Nyaka, Uganda. He also recently finished John Nussbaumer’s “Maria Morte” and a short documentary for the Holocaust & Intolerance Museum. Wulkan is a record producer and is also partners with world-renowned speed painter Michael Ostaski in “Rock ‘N Art Fusion,” a multi-media performance featuring live painting and original music, moving images, choreography and more.
