He has practiced podiatry & sports medicine for over 30 years in the Aurora- Naperville area and was recently inducted into the prestigious 2019 National Fitness Hall of Fame. Dr. Bob has treated many of the world’s premier athletes from all types of sports. He is the host of “The Sports Doctor™” Radio Show. The show is now featured on BBS Radio Network, UK Health Radio Network & Sports 4 Fanz Radio. Dr. Bob was formerly on Healthy Life Radio and was also on WDCB public radio in Chicago for over 20 years. Dr. Maroon is Professor and Vice Chairman of Neurosurgery and Heindl Scholar in Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh. At Indiana University he was a Scholastic All American in football and received his medical and neurosurgical education at Indiana, Oxford (England), Georgetown and University of Vermont.
Team neurosurgeon, Pittsburgh Steelers for 40 years. Member of the NFL Head, Neck and Spine Committee, former Medical Director of World Wrestling Entertainment Corporation (WWE).Chair of Chuck Noll Foundation for prevention of brain injuries in sports.
He co-developed the ImPact neurocognitive test, the standard of care for return to play in all contact sports and changed the management of sport concussions nationally. Over 25 million tests performed. Received Indiana University Distinguished Alumni Service Award, Jerome Bettis Humanitarian of the Year Award and Lou Holtz Hall of Fame with Joe Montana and Kareem Jabbar for contributions to sports medicine. Published 340 peer reviewed papers, 54 book chapters and 6 books.
Presently involved with clinical trials l in chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
