BIO BELOW FROM: http://www.dansimons.com/index.html
I am a professor in the Department of Psychology and the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Illinois. My research explores the limits of our own minds and the reasons why we often are unaware of our limits. I teach classes in the field of visual cognition at the undergraduate and graduate level, and I also teach introductory psychology.
Beyond my academic work, I am a writer and keynote speaker. My first book, The Invisible Gorilla, was co-authored by Christopher Chabris and was first published in 2010 (by Crown). It became a NY Times bestseller and has been translated into more than a dozen languages worldwide.
I am also the founder and president of Viscog Productions, a company that produces and distributes DVD presentation tools that help teachers and speakers illustrate the limits of visual perception and attention.
