The Most Beautiful Angel
Summary

Satan had it all. He was the Most Beautiful Angel; he had it all. Even so, he decided he wanted more. He decided he could be better than God. Instead, he lost everything and now seeks to destroy all who will follow him.

Solomon had the world at his fingertips, but he chose to live in anguish. In Ecclesiastes he said, “Everything is meaningless.” Everything is meaningless without God. Without being led by the power of God one walks aimlessly in a meaningless existence.

The same can be said for Satan. He walks around aimlessly, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). Satan has nothing to look forward to except a life of eternal torment. His soul purpose is to bring as many with him to destruction as is possible.

Without love, every existence is meaningless. Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines (1 Kings 11:3). A concubine is a slave used for sexual purposes. The wisest man in the world had polygamous relationships that led to an unfulfilling life for King Solomon. In Proverbs 5:18 Solomon said, “rejoice in the wife of your youth.” Solomon knew the perfect order of God, but he strayed and followed his own wisdom.

It was the same with Satan. God gave him everything, but instead, he became proud and arrogant. He decided he could be better than God. He rebelled and was thrown out of heaven. He rejected God. Some have asked, “Why did God not forgive Satan?” The answer is, when one knows the truth, but then rejects God there is no more forgiveness of sin. Satan walked with God; he talked with him and served him. There was no doubt that he knew God to the fullest. Therefore, the decision was made with full knowledge to rebel against God. God cannot allow evil into his heaven.

Wisdom comes from the Creator and can only be truly accessed by communication with him. When one strays from the wisdom of God, natural wisdom takes over which leads to one’s demise. Hebrews 6:4 is clear when it says, “It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit . . . if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance.”

How much more enlightened can one be than to actually stand in the presence of God on a daily basis. Satan was the most powerful angel in heaven. He held the greatest stature. It is even been said that he was the worship leader of heaven. One could not have a higher position than to be the leader of praise to a great and mighty God.

Nevertheless, when he was thrown from heaven he was stripped of his power. Satan is not one to be feared by the Christian. In fact, James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Did you get that? Submit to God! Follow God and there is no fear of anything in heaven or in earth.
