Sound Healing with David Gibson
Transforming Negative Beliefs Through Sound, Resonance, and Self-Love
David Gibson explores how negative beliefs influence relationships, work, money, health, self-worth, and spiritual growth, then guides listeners through affirmations, vocal-toning practices, and embodied truths designed to replace limiting patterns with love, confidence, emotional balance, and a deeper sense of personal wholeness.
Sound Healing Center Resources and Programs
The episode opens with an overview of the Sound Healing Center and its related organizations, including Globe Institute, the Sound Healing Store, the Sound Therapy Center, and the Sound Healing Research Foundation. The introduction describes certificate programs, sound-healing instruments, vibroacoustic tools, research papers, treatment-plan resources, educational projects, and online information for listeners interested in sound therapy and related training.
How Negative Beliefs Shape Everyday Life
David Gibson identifies transforming negative beliefs as the central topic of the episode. He says limiting beliefs affect relationships, employment, income, health, self-image, and the ability to love oneself and others. He attributes these beliefs to sources such as mass consciousness, culture, religion, parents, education, advertising, and personal experiences, explaining that people often carry beliefs about not being intelligent, attractive, spiritual, emotional, successful, healthy, or worthy enough.
Replacing Limiting Beliefs With Believable Truths
Gibson teaches that a negative belief should be replaced with an affirmation the listener can believe completely, rather than with a statement that feels exaggerated or only partially true. For example, instead of claiming to be loving at all times, he suggests affirming, “My core essence is love.” He encourages listeners to speak or tone these truths aloud so they are felt physically and emotionally, not merely understood as intellectual ideas.
Self-Worth, Appearance, Emotion, and Sensitivity
The teaching addresses beliefs such as being unintelligent, undeserving, unattractive, too old, too emotional, insufficiently spiritual, overly critical, or too sensitive. Gibson reframes mistakes as part of human growth, the body as a vehicle for spirit, emotional awareness as something worthy of acceptance, and sensitivity as a strength that allows people to perceive subtle energy. Throughout the segment, he leads vocal-toning practices centered on intelligence, worthiness, physical acceptance, loving discernment, and the affirmation that sensitivity can be a superpower.
Belonging, Relationships, Judgment, and Abundance
Gibson also explores beliefs involving not fitting in, relationship difficulties, feeling unlovable, fearing other people’s opinions, being invisible, lacking patience, and not deserving financial abundance. He encourages listeners to view relationships as opportunities for learning, recognize their own value without depending entirely on outside approval, and replace competition with collaboration. His discussion of wealth emphasizes caring for oneself first and allowing resources to move through a person in ways that may benefit others.
Health, Self-Healing, and the Closing Self-Love Practice
The final teaching section addresses beliefs about chronic health problems, aging, limited time, declining energy, and the perceived inability to heal oneself. Gibson encourages listeners to imagine themselves healthy, send sound toward areas of the body that need attention, and affirm that they are worthy of health, wealth, harmonious relationships, and other positive experiences. The episode concludes with a music segment combining “Loving Yourself” and “Overcoming Fear,” followed by an invitation to hug oneself, say “I love you” aloud, send that loving sound toward the heart, and continue carrying the practice forward. These healing statements reflect Gibson’s views and should not be treated as medical advice or established scientific conclusions.

At the Sound Healing Center, we have four main things going on: the Institute, the Sound Healing Store, the Sound Therapy Center, and the Sound Healing Research Foundation.
At Globe Institute, we offer two sound-healing certificates and one audio-recording certificate. All of them are offered online, as well as in person here in Sausalito, outside of San Francisco. We're the only state-approved college in the entire United States that offers sound healing.
David has created some of the leading books in the fields of audio recording and sound healing. In recording, there is The Art of Mixing and The Art of Producing. In sound healing, there is The Complete Guide to Sound Healing. He has also written a book on sound-loving relationships, Creating Harmony and Loving Relationships, including many sound-healing techniques. It's all about being whole on your own with your heart open.
The Sound Healing Store has over 400 sound-healing instruments and technologies. We also have a physical store where you can experience everything. In the store, we have over 100 CDs and downloads, all of David's books, and a full range of instruments, including crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, didgeridoos, gongs, drums, rattles, tuning forks, and melodic instruments.
We also have a wide range of consciousness-raising technologies, including sound chambers, sacred geometries, pendants, color and light therapies, brainwave-assessment kit software, and voice-analysis software.
We received a contract with the largest dementia company in Northern California, and we created eight different protocols that have been implemented there for the last two years. The work has transformed the place dramatically. Check it out at SoundForDementia.com.
We also have a full range of vibroacoustic tools. We make sound lounges, sound tables, sound vests, sound pillows, sound dolphins, and bass straps. All of these are excellent for a wide range of physical and emotional issues, and for helping you relax and bliss out.
At the Sound Healing Research Foundation, you can find over 1,000 clinical and student papers categorized for easy searching. You will also find the Medical Sound Association, with over 1,000 doctors and sound therapists meeting bimonthly to create treatment plans for a wide range of issues. These 30-page treatment plans are an excellent resource if you're working on a specific issue for yourself or a client. Check out MedicalSoundAssociation.com, where you can also join and attend our bimonthly meetings.
At the Sound Therapy Center, we have a list of over 40 issues and all the things we offer for each issue. These include music and frequency CDs or downloads, treatment plans from the Medical Sound Association, and treatments we offer in person and online in the Sound Therapy Center for each specific issue.
Finally, we have the Sound Education Association. We received a $100,000 grant to bring our curriculum into two Montessori schools. With over 100 teachers and administrators, we have created over 2,500 exercises for children from three months old up to 18 years old, all based on books on brain development. We're now expanding the curriculum and creating schools around the world. Check out SoundEducationAssociation.com, where you can also join for free.

Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
Hi there, I'm David Gibson. Let me tell you about some things happening here at the Institute.
We have our next open house on Sunday, August 23rd, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. here in Sausalito, just outside San Francisco. It's all about how sound works physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We do many heart-opening meditations. Everybody gets to go on the sound rounds and the sound table and get blissed out. Nobody wants to leave after four hours.
Then we have our next in-person certificate program starting September 8th, mostly Monday and Wednesday nights in person, and six months online, which are Tuesday and Thursday nights and Saturdays. It's really about how sound works in the universe, how sound creates the whole universe, and how it works for healing. We also teach many techniques for becoming a sound healer. Online, the next start time is September 1st.
We also have individual classes. You don't have to do the whole program. Our next recording program starts September 15th. It's all about recording, mixing, and producing.
We also now have our new voice-analysis software, which is $588 and really easy to use. Our brainwave software is also $588, and you can find everything at SoundHealingCenter.com.
Today's show is about transforming negative beliefs.
Negative beliefs are a really big problem because they affect everything in our lives: our relationships, our job or work, how much money we are going to make, and our health. Everybody sees your negative beliefs up front. In fact, whenever you have a negative belief, it's like this big resonant field saying to everybody, "I am not good enough."
Spirit, being the beautiful resonant being that it is, goes, "Oh, let me show you many more ways to support that. Let me bring many things to you to support the fact that you don't feel good enough." That is the way resonance works in the world. It is the law of attraction.
So it is a really chaotic vibration that is put out to the world. Everybody sees when a person doesn't feel good enough about themselves. Sometimes it is really obvious. Sometimes it is not so obvious. We do have negative beliefs that are hidden as well, but for the most part, we know exactly where we do not feel good enough.
This all ties into loving yourself. The main thing that stops people from loving themselves is the beliefs they have about themselves. It could even be something you did and the belief that it was really wrong or bad. It is so important to be able to love yourself in order to be able to love others. You cannot love anybody, or even send love really well, if you do not love yourself, because that vibration is in there.
There are many places negative beliefs come from. Just mass consciousness is one. Probably the biggest negative belief in mass consciousness is that we cannot heal ourselves. It is massive. People are told, "You have to go to a doctor." There are so many mass-consciousness beliefs out there that we naturally take on.
Then there are cultural beliefs. This is massive, depending on the country, religion, and everything surrounding a person. Beliefs become very detailed based on that. Even more detail comes from your parents. The beliefs your parents have are beliefs we commonly take on, even though we do not realize it.
We can have very specific beliefs, even about how new-age something is, what spiritual means, money, making money, health, and all kinds of things. Often, we take on beliefs that we are not good enough from our parents as well. Then our experiences create negative beliefs. We may think, "I failed at that last time, so I must be bad at it next time." There is a full range of where these beliefs come from.
There is also a full range of types of negative beliefs. They could be about yourself physically. They could be mental: "I'm not smart enough." They could be emotional: "I'm an emotional mess all the time." They could even be spiritual: "I'm not really that spiritual," "I'm not meant to be spiritual," "I don't know what that is," or "Oh my God, I'm so woo-woo." Then there are negative beliefs about relationships, health, and wealth. Those are huge.
What we are going to do today is talk about how to change or turn these negative beliefs around. Then we are going to make the sound of the truth.
The truth is that all negative beliefs are illusions. We are not meant to feel bad around here. The truth is that you are a perfect spirit in every way. There is nothing wrong with you on the 5D level. As a human, we may think we are flawed, but that is humanity. We are on a journey of learning. We are on a journey of growth. Every mistake, every challenge we come across, is about teaching us how to grow. So it is all perfect. On the 5D level, we are a perfect spirit in every way. Truly.
When turning around a negative belief, the trick is to turn it around so that the opposite is something you believe in 100 percent. You can say, "I am working on being more loving," or "I am aspiring to be more loving," or "I am trying to be more loving," but the energy of each one of those is partial. It is not fully there.
Even when we say, "I accept that I am this way," that can be okay. It is better than thinking you are terrible, but you do not want to accept that you are bad at something as a permanent identity. You do not say, "I accept that I am not good at this." No. You say, "I have not learned to be good at this yet. This is perfect for my growth, and at the 5D level, I am a perfect spirit in every way."
So I like to turn the belief around into something you believe 100 percent. That is not easy. But if you can make the sound of 100 percent belief, then spirit says, "Yes, we will resonate that. We are not going to go halfway. We are going to go for the full thing." If you believe it 100 percent and make the sound of it to get it into your body and send it out to the world, that is what you are going to bring to you.
So we are going to talk about some negative beliefs and how to turn them around so you believe the new truth 100 percent.
Let's begin.
I have a negative belief that I am not loving enough. I cannot honestly say, "I am loving all the time." I do not believe that, and spirit knows it is not true. I know what I did the other day, so that does not work. But I can say, "At my core, I am pure love. My core essence is love." I believe that 100 percent.
If you have that belief, or even if you do not, you can help resonate it. Join in with me as I make the sound of: "At my core essence, my core essence is love." The trick is to get it in your body, not only mentally as a belief, but also physically by making the sound of it. Get the truth in your body and resonate that.
Sound Practice Cue:
David leads a vocal-toning exercise for the affirmation: "My core essence is love."
Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
That feels so good. Really take it in. My core essence really is love. It really is.
Let me show you a whole list of negative beliefs from my book, The Complete Guide to Sound Healing. We will go through most of them here.
The list starts with the self. Here is a big one that a lot of people have: "I'm not smart enough." How many of you share that one? Even if you are really sharp, the way our competition-based school system is set up can make you feel not good enough. You could always be better. Parents can do it. Society does it. The educational system especially can make people feel not good enough.
We can turn that around by saying: "The knowing of my heart is what really counts. I trust my intuition more and more. What I need to know is yet to be revealed. I am curious and willing to learn. I am grateful to be at the door of life's mysteries. I am brilliant in my own way. I fulfill my life's journey with the tools and wisdom I have been provided with. The joy is in the learning, not always in the knowing."
I really like this one right now: "I am brilliant in my own way." I also especially like: "The joy is in the learning, not always in the knowing." I am going to make the sound of those. Join in with me.
Sound Practice Cue:
David leads a vocal-toning exercise for the affirmation: "I am smart enough in the perfect way."
Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
A lot of people share this next one: "I don't deserve good things because of what I've done." Especially if you have made a big mistake and hurt somebody, sometimes people get locked into: "I'm a bad person." Regardless of what you have done, you deserve good things. We all make mistakes. That is part of being human. Add yourself to the list of humans. We all make mistakes and we all get lost sometimes.
The truth is: "I am a perfect spirit in every way. I deserve good things regardless of what I have done, ever." Let's make the sound of that.
Sound Practice Cue:
David leads a vocal-toning exercise for deserving good things and releasing the belief, "I am a bad person."
Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
"I'm a bad person" is similar. The truth might be: "I am a totally competent and wonderful person. My gifts are different from others. Some of my gifts are yet to be revealed."
Another huge belief in our society comes from marketing and advertising, because it is always telling us we could look better: "I am not good looking enough." This is such a problem because we compare ourselves, and so much media tells us we are not good looking enough.
The truth is: "I am not my body. I am a spirit, a soul, and a point of awareness that is perfectly beautiful. My body is a beautiful and perfect vehicle for spirit. My body is a reflection of the richness of my experience. My beauty is true vibrance on all levels."
Perfect. Let's make the sound of that.
Sound Practice Cue:
David leads a vocal-toning exercise for honoring the body as a beautiful vehicle for spirit.
Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
There is another component to this one that happens when you get older, frail, or weak. We may think, "Oh my God, I am falling apart. I'm dying." It is a tricky one. Then you can feel not good enough compared to younger people. But the truth remains: "I am not my body. I am a pure, perfect spirit, soul, and point of awareness in every way. Always."
Then there is the whole thing about not being tall enough, short enough, the right body type, or athletic enough. The truth is: "I am beautiful as I am. My body is perfect. I am alive. I am able to feel a full spectrum of emotions. I am able to run love. I am able to laugh and feel joy. That is who I am. I am a soul that never wobbles."
Another belief is: "I'm not spiritual enough." It is perfect where you are. It is really perfect where you are. You are in the right place. We are not meant to feel bad around here.
Here is an interesting one: "I'm too emotional," or "I'm not emotional enough." People who come to the school are often quite emotional, but there are also people who are completely shut down. The truth is: "I am emotionally balanced, and I feel, accept, and love my emotions."
There is another technique where you tune in to the positive. Even if you do not normally run that energy, if you believe the statement 100 percent, you can sit with it until you embody it. You can sit with: "I am emotionally balanced, and I feel, accept, and love my emotions," until you feel balanced and love all your emotions. Sit with it until you are grateful for all your emotions and grateful to be able to feel. When you embody it, make the sound of it.
You can do the same with this one: "I am capable of great things." If you really believe that inside, even if you do not normally run that energy, sit with it and embody it.
"I have my gifts that I love" is a beautiful one. What are your gifts? What are you really good at?
Another one is: "I'm too critical of myself and others." In the Kabbalah, there are different sefirot. One is discernment, and the opposite of that is mercy, which is like love. If you do not have both to balance each other out, discernment becomes criticalness. You need love and mercy to balance discernment. If you are too loving and not discerning, then you become too soft and people may take advantage of you because you do not know how to set boundaries.
Discernment is beautiful. It is beautiful to discern and examine yourself, to see where you would like to change and how you would like to grow without feeling bad about yourself. It says: "Here is the job. This is what I am working on. I am making some headway. At least I know what I would like to change about myself."
Discernment allows me to appreciate our differences. When I am critical, I know it is just programming. It is not me. It comes from others and society. I honor the God in you and me. I care about people and truth. I speak truth from a place of love. All just is.
I like this one: "This tone is not me. It comes from others and programming." Let's make the sound of that.
Sound Practice Cue:
David leads a vocal-toning exercise for releasing criticalness and reclaiming discernment with love.
Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
Here is a huge one, especially in our sound-healing classes: "I'm not pure enough to help heal others." When you are really being a healer, you are not doing the healing. It is about getting out of the way and letting spirit and source come through to do the healing. Spirit and source are never far from the surface for anybody.
The truth is: "As spirit comes through me to help others, it knows precisely what is needed. All is taken care of with a positive intention." That is really true. If you have a positive intention, it has been shown in clinical studies that you are going to get a positive outcome most of the time. The positive intention is the number one thing that makes healing work. Spirit is never far from the surface.
Another belief is: "I am too sensitive and fragile." I have had that one. But sensitivity is a superpower. When you are more sensitive, you see more subtle layers of energy in people, and that is incredible.
The truth is: "I am able to detect minute differences in things. There is strength in my sensitivity. My receptivity opens me up to wondrous experiences." When you start seeing energy, spirit, and higher beings, sensitivity becomes the best. It may make you feel like a wimp, but that is perfect. My sensitivity is my superpower. Take that in with me.
Sound Practice Cue:
David leads a vocal-toning exercise for the affirmation: "My sensitivity is my superpower."
Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
Here is another big one, commonly held especially around other cultures: "I don't belong or fit in." The truths could be: "Everyone walks to the beat of their own drum. I have not yet found my tribe. I belong with source and God. I create connection. I see the light in everyone as the same as mine. I belong right where I am. I visualize oneness with all in the universe."
We are all one. We all belong in this group of spirits. We are all the same. I often think of it this way: being normal is weird. Fitting in is weird. The norm of what is normal on this planet is just bizarre. I would much rather be an alien than fit in with a lot of what is going on here.
You can say: "I love that I am an alien." Let's do the sound of that one.
Sound Practice Cue:
David leads a vocal-toning exercise for the affirmation: "I love that I am an alien."
Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
This soul that I am is totally part of source, which is part of all.
Another belief is: "I have difficulty in relationships." A good truth for that is: "I attract what I need to learn." When you can see difficulties as a way of learning that spirit has given you for this lifetime, it is incredible. Then, when you can see the spirit in everybody, it is amazing.
Another belief is: "I am not lovable." The truth is that you are lovable. Sit with that and resonate the truth. Sit with it until you embody it. You are lovable. "My core essence is extremely attractive. I believe that 100 percent. I am universal love. Humanity needs my love. I belong in a world that loves me."
I love this: "My core essence is extremely attractive." Especially if you are not feeling like you look good enough these days, remember how silly this 3D existence can be.
Another massive belief is: "I am so afraid of what others think about me." Anita Moorjani said that this was connected to her fourth-stage cancer. When she died and went into the light and became enveloped with universal love, she no longer cared what people thought, and according to her account, the cancer went away completely. What if that right there is the cause of much cancer? I would not doubt it is the cause of a lot of it.
What is the opposite? "What others think about me does not matter in the least." I do not know if I can hold that one 100 percent, but this one I can: "I am secure in my own way of being and doing things." And this one I love: "It is not my fault if others judge me. It is their own stuff."
Let's make the sound of that.
Sound Practice Cue:
David leads a vocal-toning exercise for releasing fear of judgment and affirming: "It is not my fault if others judge me. It is their own stuff."
Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
I am no longer afraid of what others think about me. I am whole on my own. These are so huge and important. I am whole on my own.
A lot of people also have this one: "People don't see me. They don't see my value. I am invisible." The truth might be: "I respect myself and see myself being respected. It does not matter if people do not respect me. I am whole on my own." Again, it is not your fault if they do not respect you. That is their own problem with the energy they are running.
The truth is: "I trust that I know when to share my wisdom. I cannot wait to share my wisdom. People resonate with my truth, and they love to hear it." I like that one. People resonate with my truth, and they love to hear it. No longer invisible. I am waiting for the time to resonate my being into the world, and now it is coming.
Another belief is: "I am not patient," or "I am impatient." The truth is: "Every moment is perfect. Impatience is not me. It is really a pattern I have taken on. I can imagine what it would be like to trust in divine timing. It is all taken care of and perfect in divine timing."
Then there is the whole area of wealth. Some people think they do not deserve to be wealthy. Some people think money is the root of all evil. Some think that if they have a lot of money, others will have less, or that it is wrong to have a lot of money when others are starving.
This planet has way more resources for everybody on the whole planet to be 100 percent abundant. It is only because people hoard it. Another way to think of it is not that you want to bring in more money, but that you want to bring money through you to help others. Then spirit says, "I am down with that. Let me help you." That is exactly what is going on around here. I have come up with so many ways to help millions of people, and spirit says, "Here is all the money you need when it is coming through you to help others," instead of simply saying, "I want more money."
Of course, you have to take care of yourself first. You have to put the oxygen mask on yourself first. You have to get to a place where you are comfortable so you can help others. If you do not take care of yourself, you do not have the energy to do it. There is nothing wrong with taking care of yourself first, and then seeing what you can do to help people on the planet.
Another belief is: "I need to compete with others to succeed." That is built into our society and educational system. Schools are so competitive that many kids are labeled failures. It is wrong, and that is why we are working on a new educational system.
You do not need to compete with others. In fact, the more you collaborate and harmonize with others, the more abundance there is. You have to protect yourself here and there, but these days I think that if somebody steals something, it may mean the world has another avenue for that work to come out and help people. It may not be the best way, but you do not need to compete all the time.
A lot of people think: "I'm not clever enough to run my own business. I need to work for others." Everybody has their own talents, and you can do it.
Then there is the whole realm of health. One belief is: "I always have some health issue going on. I'm never completely healthy." The truth is: "I see myself completely healthy." Imagine yourself with all issues completely gone. What would it be like if you were perfectly healthy? Feel it completely now. The second you do that, your immune system says, "No more problems. Everything is flowing." Your body starts becoming healthy on its own.
It is also good just to say: "I love the health I have. I love the health I have. I love the health I have."
Another belief is: "I'm not capable of healing myself." This is probably the biggest negative belief on this planet. People are told, "You have to go to the doctor. Get it checked out. It could be a problem." The last three times I went to the doctor, I am still recovering from what they did. Even the MRI was really detrimental, not to mention the antibiotics.
You can heal yourself. What if that were true in society? You can heal yourself. If you just believe it, that is the first step. "I am 100 percent capable of healing myself. I now believe and see myself healing myself." Just send a sound, any vowel, to the part of the body that needs help and see it healed. As many healers say, "Say it and so it is." Say it and so it is. Believe it. You have to believe 100 percent that it is possible.
This is a big one. I do not have it down 100 percent myself. There are some things when I do healing on myself where I can see it really working, and often it does work, but I do not always believe it by myself. But it is all energy. The main healers I have been to say it is all energy. That means energy can heal it.
Another belief is: "I am running out of time and energy." The truth is: "Each day I get stronger, wiser, and learn more. I am grateful for the wisdom I have. In this moment, I am pure love and wisdom. There is no time. I am the master of my time and energy. The soul goes on forever. I am exactly where I need to be, at the right time and the right place, doing exactly the right thing."
Make the sound of that.
Sound Practice Cue:
David leads a vocal-toning exercise for trusting time, energy, wisdom, and right placement.
Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
Another belief is: "I don't deserve it all - health, wealth, and harmonious relationships." Of course you do. The truth is: "My worthiness has nothing to do with what I think. I am worthy of all good things. I totally deserve it all. I am a pure, perfect spirit in every way."
Every one of these negative beliefs is an illusion. The truth is that you are a pure, perfect spirit in every way, and that is absolutely the truth.
Make the sound of that.
Sound Practice Cue:
David leads a vocal-toning exercise for the affirmation: "I am a pure, perfect spirit in every way."
Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
The next time you come across feeling not good enough about yourself, track that belief down. Figure out what negative belief you are embodying. Then turn it around into the truth. If you can make it out loud, make the sound of it. If you cannot, just resonate the energy of the truth: you are a pure, perfect spirit in every way.
Let me play my song, "Overcoming Fear," now. Actually, I am going to play a different one. This one is perfect: "Loving Yourself" and "Overcoming Fear." I have both of them in the same song. They flow right into each other. This is my song. The first half is "Loving Yourself," and the second half is "Overcoming Fear."
Music Cue:
David plays a song segment combining "Loving Yourself" and "Overcoming Fear." The audio includes a repeated "Loving Yourself" refrain and a guided self-love affirmation.
Speaker 2 - David Gibson:
So hug yourself and tell yourself out loud: "I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you." Then send the sound of love to your own heart.
Hold that energy for the rest of the evening, the weeks ahead, the months ahead, and the years ahead. Love yourself forever. You are a perfect spirit in every way.
Thanks for listening. as a superpower; health, wealth, and relationships; sound practice; Overcoming Fear; Loving Yourself.
