Radio Toni A Conversation with Kez with Kez Wickham St George

Lisa Van der Wielen is a Writer of poetry, children's books, and stories. Lisa is also a Primary School Teacher and a Mum of two beautiful daughters. She has always been lucky enough to call the sunny city of Perth, Western Australia, her home.

Lisa is passionate about working with children and has always had a love for writing, so those things combined have to lead her to become a Children's Author. Lisa is a proud supporter of the local charities: Perth Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia, and Heart Kids.

Lisa loves the beach, nature, dogs, gardening, food, family, and the importance of virtues.... they provide her with inspiration to write engaging children's books. Lisa endeavors to write fun stories that inspire kids to learn, laugh, and enjoy the magic of reading. Being a Mother and Teacher of children, in today's world, has given Lisa a valuable insight into how prevalent Anxiety is in Children. Lisa believes her book DUNE is her best writing yet and is excited to get it out into the world as soon as possible!

Getting your book published isn't cheap! There are illustration, editing, publishing, shipping fees, and marketing costs! So backing Lisa’s project will help get this wonderful book out into the world and you will be rewarded with signed books and lots of other rewards!

Today we want to introduce the audience to Dune

Dune is a sweet and endearing story about how one little girl learns to conquer her anxiety: Sometimes, it’s hard for Grace to overcome her anxiety. She tries and tries, but nothing ever seems to help. But one day, when she visits the beach with her family, she finds a cute little surprise in the sand dunes that might change everything…

Put your toes in the sand, you will be okay.

Let the ripples of water wash your worries away.

A wave is a worry, a worry’s a wave,

Stand up and face it, and learn to be brave.

Why does this book matter? The rates of Anxiety in children of today's modern world are extremely alarming. Some recent global studies suggest that around 1 in 4 children are suffering from some form of anxiety. Therefore, anxiety and worries are a topic that needs to be honestly and openly talked about with children. Books are a wonderful way to introduce topics to children that lead to important discussions and learning.
