Reaching For The Gold, June 4, 2013
Let’s face it. Nobody enjoys the time they spend as a patient in an emergency room. But being vulnerable to the hurried atmosphere that surrounds them, older people often find their stays in these facilities to be particularly difficult. They can become agitated within these settings and that emotional state might linger long after they have left.
To make matters easier for elderly patients, Cleveland’s University Hospitals has established a senior ER in its Richmond Road facility. Among other things it is staffed by professionals who can help the elderly and their care givers find the support that they need. Kim Kinder is an adult and geriatric nurse practitioner at this facility.
Betsy Otter Thompson has a background in many facets of the media: acting, administrative, sales. She spent 17 years in Los Angeles working as the Assistant to the Chairman and CEO of Castle Rock Entertainment. But despite the fact she thoroughly enjoyed all of these adventures, she has found her real niche writing self help books, including The What Happens If… Book. And she credits her writing experiences with helping her survive some particularly rough times. She is particularly enthusiastic having an opportunity to spread her message about the importance of surrounding yourself with love.

Betsy's work has always gravitated toward the media. A native Philadelphian with a B.F.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, Betsy worked as an account executive for WFIL radio in Philadelphia, and from there went to radio stations WPEN and WFLN. After that, she became a commercial print model and acted in television commercials in New York and Philadelphia. For seventeen years, she worked in Los Angeles at the motion picture and television company Castle Rock Entertainment as the Assistant to the Chairman and CEO. In August '99, she followed her boss to Warner Bros. as he took a new position there as President and COO, and became his Executive Assistant. She is now writing full time. Betsy's writing began unexpectedly while going through an especially difficult time in her life. She believes that her books were the answer to her prayers.
