Faith Under Fire: Testimony, Discernment, and the Call to Salvation

Summary

Free Ministry Materials and Opening Appeal
Tony Alamo introduces program 249 as part 147 of a continuing series about having God's life within the believer. He offers free audio recordings, Bibles, a Messiah book, and ministry literature, stating that postage and handling are provided without charge. The opening prayer asks God to guide the service, anoint the reading of Scripture, bring salvation, and strengthen the church. Alamo also introduces his belief that governments and religious institutions are opposing his ministry. These political and religious assertions are presented throughout the episode as his interpretation of world events.

Music Connections and International Letters
Alamo recalls relationships with figures from the recording industry, including Billy Strange, Nancy Sinatra, Frank Sinatra, and H.B. Barnum. He stresses that entertainment professionals are people who also need the gospel. Sharon reads letters attributed to Christian workers in Faisalabad, Pakistan, and Blantyre, Malawi. The writers describe distributing gospel literature, requesting prayer, seeking Bibles and teaching materials, and working in Muslim or African communities. Alamo connects the letters with his accounts of prison evangelism, international missions, refugee assistance, and financial support for overseas work.

The Purported Agent's Statement
Much of the program centers on a statement attributed to Joseph Taliaferro, who claims that NAFEC hired him to infiltrate the Tony Alamo Christian Church. The statement alleges that he was promised $10,000, instructed to learn church details, and drawn into staged events involving inheritance telegrams and kidnapping threats. It also alleges surveillance by aircraft, vehicles, police, and other agents. The writer says he eventually viewed the church as sincere, Christian, and helpful to people in need. He concludes that he fears for his life and believes government agencies sought false testimony against the church.

Alamo's Institutional and Political Allegations
Between portions of the statement, Alamo offers extended commentary accusing the Vatican, federal agencies, political leaders, media organizations, churches, and other groups of coordinated opposition. He defends his ministry's anti-abortion activities, housing, work arrangements, security practices, and the circumstances surrounding Susan Alamo's funeral. He also recounts providing prenatal assistance and describes properties used for housing, work, and prayer gatherings. These claims and accusations are not independently established within the transcript. They are preserved as statements made by Alamo and by the purported written confession.

Scripture, Measurement, and Church Discipline
The final teaching portion moves to Romans 14:1, Revelation 11:1-2, and 1 Corinthians 5. Alamo interprets Scripture as the measuring rod for evaluating people within the church. He argues that persistent doctrinal conflict, sexual misconduct, false accusations, and other behavior may require removal from fellowship. Using Paul's language about leaven, he warns that tolerated wrongdoing can spread through an entire congregation. He presents discipline as both protection for the church and a means of confronting the person with the consequences of conduct he considers disobedient to God.

Salvation Prayer and Closing Call
Alamo closes by inviting listeners to repent and pray for salvation through Jesus Christ. The prayer affirms Jesus as the Son of God, His death and shed blood, His resurrection by the Holy Spirit, and His position at God's right hand. Listeners are encouraged to believe they have been heard, thank Jesus for saving their souls, and praise God. Sharon then provides the ministry website, mailing address, telephone number, and fax number for obtaining program 249. The episode ends with the beginning of "Onward, Christian Soldiers" and a prerecorded call for Christians to arise and hold fast.

SPEAKER IDENTIFICATION

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher
The opening identifies Tony Alamo, and the speaker repeatedly refers to his ministry, church, prior recordings, personal history, and teachings. He introduces the program, comments on letters and a purported former agent's statement, teaches from Scripture, leads a salvation prayer, and closes the episode.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer
Tony Alamo addresses Sharon by name near the end and asks her to read Scripture and provide contact information. The same supporting voice appears to read the international letters, the purported Joseph Taliaferro statement, and the Bible passages. The transcript does not provide Sharon's last name.

Speaker 3 - Congregation / Group Response
This collective voice responds "Amen" during the opening prayer and other transitions. The transcript does not distinguish individual congregants.

Speaker 4 - Prerecorded Musical / Promo Voice
The closing segment introduces "Onward, Christian Soldiers" and continues with a brief dramatic promotional narration. The transcript ends before that segment is complete.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

Hello again. This is World Pastor Tony Alamo. We're in part 147 of How to Have God's Life Living in You. Actually, I've done thousands of messages on this subject through the years, but this is program number 249.

If you would like a copy, Sharon will tell you the different ways you can receive it: by phone, email, fax, or writing. This is program 249. If you want a copy, please specify whether you want an audio tape or a CD. The postage, handling, and the CD or tape are absolutely free of charge.

If you need a Bible, don't be ashamed if you don't have the money. It's more important for you to ask so you can receive one. The Lord gives us the finances to send you a Bible, a Messiah book, or some of the literature.

Right now, let's go to the throne of the living God. We have a very interesting confession here from a purported federal agent. I think you'll find it interesting to see how, in my view, the world has deteriorated in the last few years and how the government that is supposed to be the United States government is not for us as United States citizens.

Those of us who are patriotic people in this world are facing what I call a world government, which I believe is under the control of the Roman Empire. I've been to Rome, and I lived about a quarter of a block from the Vatican. I could go out on my balcony, look down to the right, and there it was, as big as all get-out, as we say in Montana.

I would try to sleep while the Catholic bells rang. I felt like a vibrating tuning fork when they rang and made the whole room shake, rattle, and roll.

I believe we're under the Roman Empire, and it isn't pleasant for those of us living a life of consecration to the Lord, because I believe these people hate the Lord. They love to worship idols. Mary was a very fine girl, but she wasn't deity, and she still isn't. It is a sin to pray to her or anyone other than God through Christ Jesus.

He's the only mediator we have to the throne of God. There is one mediator to the throne of God, and that's the man Christ Jesus. Amen?

Speaker 3 - Congregation / Group Response

Amen.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

All right. We're going to ask the Lord to bless this service.

Father, open the windows of heaven and pour out Your Spirit. Take away everything that is not Your will, but, Lord, let everything that is said be from You. Anoint the reading of the Scriptures. Anoint the reading of this confession from Joseph Taliaferro, who says he was an FBI agent, moved into our church, got saved, and then exposed the government again. They keep trying to destroy us.

Father, I always call myself the modern-day Tweety Bird. That old cat tries to get hold of us, but something always happens through which You cause us to get away.

Lord, we ask these things: open the minds, souls, and spirits of everyone so they can receive salvation and the church can be edified and strengthened. In Jesus' name we pray. Everyone says amen.

Speaker 3 - Congregation / Group Response

Amen.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

Frank Sinatra and Nancy Sinatra sent a message to one of the best arrangers in the world, Billy Strange, in Nashville, Tennessee. They wanted me to sing this song, "Sunday School to Broadway," so I'm going to let you hear it now. Praise the Lord.

[Song: "Sunday School to Broadway." The lyrics are not captured in the provided transcript.]

Frank Sinatra and Nancy Sinatra, his daughter, had a publishing company. Billy Strange did a great deal of arranging for Frank Sinatra, especially string arrangements. Billy didn't do the arrangement on this song. My brother Danny and I did it together.

Billy did a whole album called Love Songs that I recorded, along with Kim Morrison. Billy Strange was one of the nicest people you could ever meet, and Nancy Sinatra, Frank's daughter, was one of the nicest people.

I felt sorry for her when her husband died. It was tragic. She called me and wanted me to come over, but it was impossible for me at the time. She was hurt and sobbing. People don't always understand that those in the recording and movie industries are real people. We need to get the gospel to them as well.

Billy, I'm sorry you retired. He also called me "Papa." I wish he had not retired because, if he hadn't, I would do another LP with him. You're fantastic.

Now we have some letters to read.

I'm glad I've been in the gospel field for the last 42 years. Praise the Lord. You meet all kinds of interesting people, and we're able to get the gospel to many wonderful people in Africa and to people on the streets, where the Lord has always led us. Those are the people who are receiving the Lord, and some people in the entertainment industry are receiving Him as well.

H.B. Barnum is one of them. He's one of the greatest people I know. He was the only Christian who stood up for me in court when I was being railroaded into prison, as I describe it, for the gospel. He flew from Chicago even though he had a major concert there.

He has done arrangements for Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, and others. He travels and works on their concerts.

Where is the first letter from?

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

Pakistan.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

Pakistan. Go ahead.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

Brother Alamo,

Our network for distributing your literature is increasing day by day. We now go to the far areas of town to distribute your literature and also outside the city. In this city, we have distributed your literature in almost all areas of town, and now we're heading toward other cities.

Because of this literature, many lives are being saved, and people are getting on the right track. Brother Alamo, we're working for the glory of God only. I ask that you pray for us, especially that God keep us safe and help us do only God's will.

In this Muslim community, distributing gospel literature is never easy, but we are not stopping. Please pray for protection and safety for me and my companions.

Your brother in Christ,
Reverend Dan
Faisalabad, Pakistan

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

When I was in prison, I was with many Muslims and members of different gangs: skinheads, Nazi skinheads, Asian gangs, the Bloods, the Crips, the Mexican Mafia, and others. I won many souls there.

One of them was Reggie Jackson. He was the head of what is heard as the "Bone family" in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a Muslim, became a Christian, and wrote three Christian tracts. We published them. I told him I would put them out if he wanted me to. They were very good, especially for people in gangs who used to do bad things.

Where is the next letter from?

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

Malawi.

Dear Pastor Tony Alamo,

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ. We received the letter of encouragement you wrote to us. I thank God that your gospel literature is winning millions of people's souls all over the world.

We have 168 churches in Malawi and Mozambique, and we need more of your literature and Bibles to strengthen us in spreading the Word of God. Here in Malawi, we need prayer for the anointing power of the Holy Spirit. We also want you to send some friends to encourage us here in Malawi.

God bless you and your ministry.

Yours in love,
Pastor Eric
Blantyre, Malawi, Africa

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

You hear that, Pastor? It looks like another possible trip to Africa. Amen?

He and his wife said they would go anywhere the Lord told them. Even when rockets were being sent from Lebanon into Israel, they said they would go to Haifa, where explosions were occurring. Those are courageous Christians - Buster and his wife. His wife had been saved only recently.

She endured the danger in West Africa. They stayed there, toughed it out, and returned with recordings and information. We were able to help many people there.

We had been sending them $1,000 a week. They said not to send a lot, just $1,000 a week. We increased it to $1,500 because the number of souls they said they were reaching had tripled among refugees from Liberia in West Africa.

Sharon, we have a piece of literature here. This is the statement of a man who says he was sent by the government to infiltrate our church and bring out reports as though we were dangerous. When he entered, he thought we were a dangerous cult because, he says, the media and government had convinced him of that.

He found, as others find when they come to our church, a group of people he considered kind, gentle, and dear-hearted. He believed they were preaching the gospel in a way it was not being preached in many places. He says he got saved.

He told me, "They're going to kill me, but I'm going to give a testimony." I told him that, if he stayed in the church, they would not kill him. I said I promised that because the Lord told me. He thought he did not want to bring trouble to the church.

Let's start reading. His name is Joseph Taliaferro, right?

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

Yes.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

It's an interesting story, so listen carefully.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

Federal Agent Confesses Government Plot to Destroy the Alamo Christian Church

Joseph Taliaferro's Statement

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

But you want to know something? If you have the Lord, they can't destroy you. Amen?

Speaker 3 - Congregation / Group Response

Amen.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

Even if they killed me, they would not stop this movement. It's all over the world. As people say, the cat is out of the bag.

That's why people like the man from Venezuela were, in my view, blowing the whistle. He said the world government is the devil.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

Venezuela.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

What is his name again?

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

Hugo Chavez.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

Hugo Chavez said that Bush was of the devil. I believe Bush was one member of an Antichrist system and that the Vatican was behind it. I also say Chavez worshiped the pope. In my view, drawing attention to Bush diverted attention from Rome. I believe presidents are puppets of a larger power centered in the Vatican.

I interpret this as a war Satan has waged against God because we're preaching God's Word. Satan does not want God's Word to go out because it uncovers evil. The Lord says to resist the devil, but many people don't know where the devil is.

I believe political and religious figures act like stage performers. I interpret repeated public disputes and apologies between the Vatican and Muslim leaders as part of a staged performance.

We have pictures, I say, of Pope John Paul II addressing the United Nations while seriously ill. I don't believe illness makes someone God. God does not need a tube in His neck to breathe and does not have to look down at His shoes.

This is an added point on the program tonight. Let's read what Joseph Taliaferro, who says he was a federal agent, has to say.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

My brother is a police officer, and I used to work undercover with the police department and help arrest drug dealers.

The National Aviation Facilities Experimental Center, located in Pomona, New Jersey, hired me to infiltrate the Tony Alamo Christian Church.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

I believe these forces have inserted themselves into many areas of American and world life. Avro Manhattan stated, in substance, that Vatican influence had entered every facet of American life.

The organization referenced here was connected with aviation and weather facilities. I allege that people within such facilities acted as spies and sent agents into Christian churches. I further allege that they did not target churches they considered aligned with the Vatican.

I believe local trouble was stirred up in places where our church operated, including Texarkana, Dyer, south Fort Smith, Chicago, and Fouke, Arkansas. I accused certain churches and people in Fouke of acting against us and referred to the town's history of antisemitism and racism.

I am a United States citizen. I asked rhetorically whether Fouke was a different country and whether people could drive us out of town. I said I had not been driven out of Los Angeles, New York, or anywhere else.

I mocked the idea of a "United Kingdom of Fouke, Arkansas," comparing it with Dogpatch from Li'l Abner, and joked about chicken coops and hog pens. My point was that I did not believe a local group could drive the church away.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

Agencies like this impress upon your heart and soul that you must not talk about working for them under any circumstances, even under threat of torture.

I was to be paid $10,000 for information I supplied to NAFEC. I believe NAFEC is connected with the FBI and the U.S. Department of Labor. It also seemed to me that they were somehow linked with the Mafia.

I was instructed to call in several times each day and speak to the men who hired me, Captain Connolly and Lieutenant Robinson, at 609-641-6100.

I was hired when the church came to Atlantic City concerning the abortion issue. NAFEC told me they were interested only in the anti-abortion program offered by the Tony Alamo Christian Church.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

I had gone to a Catholic institution near a hospital in Memphis - the hospital name is heard as St. Jude's - and said that many women were obtaining abortions. I described abortion as murder and also condemned sex outside marriage.

I was trying to bring hospitals together to let women come in for free. If the hospitals couldn't do it for free, I said I would pay so the children could be born and adopted. If nobody wanted to adopt a child because the child was born with a condition or disability, I said people in our church would care for the baby.

I claimed the media then said I wanted to raise the children so I could send them to work in fields. I denied that allegation and said we did not have fields for that purpose.

I described people in the church who were recovering from drugs, had lost their instruments, and wanted to work in Bakersfield to restore their health. We provided health foods. Susan and I let them work because they asked to do so.

They brought in money to help keep the church going, and Susan returned about half the money to them. We were paying for their food, clothing, and housing. We bought apartment houses, property referred to as the Movie Star Colony, other housing, approximately 169 and a half acres next to the church, dormitories, and a place in Mountain Home near a national forest.

Some people wanted to raise chickens and hogs. Susan and I are Jewish and keep kosher, so we didn't like that food, but we let them do it because they wanted to. We had also bought a horse farm. People enjoyed gathering there.

We used that place as a prayer retreat. We held all-night prayer meetings, prayed in the new year, and prayed about attacks against the church. People from child-welfare agencies, a child-detention home, and other agencies came to pray with us. Names heard in this section include Sean Peeler and Bill Borne.

I explained that some recovering people begged to work because they feared returning to worldly ways. They said that if they worked on a fruit and vegetable farm near Bakersfield, they would not be around the public. We allowed them to work and used funds, as I described it, to purchase housing, farms, and other church resources.

Continue.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

At the time, I couldn't understand why, but the Tony Alamo Christian Church offered free aid to women who planned to have abortions if they agreed not to have the abortion. The church offered free prenatal care, hospitalization, and support for mother and child.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

I said a Seventh-day Adventist hospital in Los Angeles agreed to help, and I claimed hospitals elsewhere, including Nashville, agreed to provide free or low-cost prenatal care and delivery.

I then accused Jerry Falwell of falsely claiming I had armed bodyguards. I said I didn't have guns or bodyguards. Because I am legally blind, I usually traveled with a driver, my wife, and sometimes a secretary.

I also discussed Jerry Falwell's role in taking over Jim Bakker's Heritage USA ministry after Bakker's legal troubles. I said I did not agree with Bakker's conduct, but believed people had trusted the wrong person to handle the situation. I said I would have spoken to him privately and told him not to bilk people and to make adequate rooms available rather than publicly shame him.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

Why they wanted me to place myself secretly in the Tony Alamo Christian Church seemed innocent enough at first, but the plot grew thicker as time went on.

NAFEC wanted to know many things about the Tony Alamo Christian Church, including the complete layout of Tony Alamo's house and the room in which he slept.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

I said they wanted that information because they wanted to kill me. I asked what I had done wrong and answered, "Nothing."

Continue.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

They also wanted to know the doctrine of the church. Tony showed me through his house, including the small room where he slept.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

If you want to know the doctrine of the church, listen to my radio program. Our doctrine is the Old and New Testaments in the King James Version. Nothing else. I say the things I'm telling you about government are written in the King James Version of the Bible. If you don't believe me, come to the church, and I'll show you the Scriptures as I interpret them.

Continue.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

The United States federal government even wanted to know whether Susan Alamo was really dead. That seemed crazy to me because hundreds of people attended the funeral, the casket was open, and she died at the City of Faith Hospital in Tulsa. She was embalmed there before being brought to Arkansas. I was told there was a death certificate, and her casket remained open for two weeks.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

We had the death certificate and a letter from the funeral home. I said people tried to make us look like kooks by claiming she was kept on ice in a glass casket. The funeral home letter said it was a steel casket. I called the ice claim ridiculous because hundreds of people attended the funeral.

I told listeners that much of what they heard in the media was false and that they had been fed misinformation throughout their lives.

Continue.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

To me, the doctrine of the Tony Alamo Christian Church is beautiful and scriptural. The people at the church attend two services every day. They read the Bible and pray. I was truly inspired.

Several sequences of events occurred while I was at the Tony Alamo Christian Church. I believed they were being carried out by the federal government.

First, a branch of government sent many false telegrams stating that I had inherited two and a half million dollars. I was instructed to show the telegrams to people at the church and tell them I wanted to tithe some of it and invest the rest in a business. I was told to do this in hopes of getting close to Tony Alamo.

The next sequence, about which I initially knew nothing, was that men called the church and said they were going to kidnap me, knowing Tony Alamo and the church would try to protect me.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

If somebody is going to kidnap or kill you, yes, we're going to protect you.

I referred to people in the South whom I described as racist and hostile toward Black, Hispanic, and Jewish people. I said someone fired into our church and shot our neon sign. I hired security because bullets had been fired into a window and the sign.

I mocked critics who asked why the church needed security when other churches did not, saying those other churches had not been fired upon.

Continue.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

There was another sequence about which I knew nothing. I don't believe the people making the false kidnapping threats knew about it either.

Helicopters began flying over the house, which I believed were military helicopters. Several jeeps were seen in the area, loaded with people I believed were federal agents. A silver-and-blue van containing five large men was seen at the Alamo grocery store in Alma. Local police vehicles were seen patrolling the area.

Because of what I considered the vicious nature of the federal agency for which I was working as a spy, I personally believed they were deliberately trying to make the Tony Alamo Christian Church look like a bad and mysterious organization, which I did not believe it was.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

I said they wanted us to look like a cult so they could kill us as federal agents had killed people associated with David Koresh at Waco. I described Koresh's church as connected with the Seventh-day Adventist tradition.

I called the federal or world-government system a cult under the pope. I said I had pictures of presidents meeting and kissing the pope and claimed presidents had sworn allegiance to Vatican directives.

I connected the removal of the Bible from schools with Vatican hostility toward the Bible. I rejected the idea that all religions are spiritually equivalent. I said we were not "religionists" but salvationists of the Lord.

Continue.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

I saw hundreds of letters commending the church for its kind work. I personally attended service after service and heard testimonials from church people.

I became well acquainted with many people living at the Tony Alamo Christian Church, and I considered them beautiful people. While I was there, I saw what I believed was the sincerity of the organization. I found it to be a good organization that preached the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ convincingly and helped poor, suffering, and needy people. I believed this was what churches were supposed to do.

Because I am giving this testimony, I fear for my life. I believe federal agencies are vicious and will pay thousands of dollars for false testimony against the church.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

I said false testimony had been used to put me in prison. I described an alleged threat against my wife and an unidentified woman, claiming government representatives threatened deportation, loss of property, or worse if testimony was not given against me. The raw names and details in this passage are not clear enough to state precisely.

I said this showed, in my view, that the United States had placed itself under a one-world government and no longer followed its Constitution. I asked people to wake up.

Continue.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

They are seeking, at any cost, to destroy this organization and any organization like it. I believe these federal agencies hire and work with hardened criminals and are inspired by the Vatican.

I believed the United States government was setting up the Alamos for slaughter. The false kidnapping threats would make the Alamos think they were protecting me from criminals. Federal agents would then claim the Alamos had kidnapped me and pretend to rescue me.

The Alamos, not knowing these people were connected with the FBI, U.S. Department of Labor, or Mafia, would try to protect me and, I feared, be killed by the federal government.

I believed newspapers, magazines, and television networks would then report that the church was evil. I named the Hearst newspaper chain, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Time, Life, Newsweek, People, ABC, NBC, and CBS, all of which I alleged were secretly controlled by the Vatican.

I made several other statements and signed them at the law firm heard as Jean, Jean & Jean in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I spoke with Mr. Jean and told him other things. The attorney was identified as Roy Jean III.

Again, I want to state that I was hired by the federal government and was to be paid $10,000 to testify falsely about the affairs of the Tony Alamo Christian Church.

My contacts were Captain Connolly and Lieutenant Robinson. They instructed me to place myself in the church in Miami, Florida. To verify these claims, I supplied the contact telephone number, 609-641-6100.

I had full knowledge that my conversation was being recorded. The statements above were made without coercion, force, or promise of reward.

I alleged that NAFEC was connected with the FBI, IRS, U.S. Department of Labor, and Mafia. I was told that six other agents had been planted in the church and had been there for a year or more. I was also told that a woman would be sent in with a $100,000 donation.

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

I said some people who had been in the church later testified against me at an IRS-related hearing and, in my view, railroaded me into prison with false claims.

Continue.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

Isn't it significant that people had been there for a year or more and still had not found anything wrong with this Christian church?

Again, I fear for my life. I hope Christians who truly know God will pray for me. I am leaving the church because of the conviction of God I am under.

The Tony Alamo Christian Church has done nothing but good for me, and I return that good with this statement.

Joseph Taliaferro

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

Sharon, come over here, and we'll read some Bible. Start with the first passage and tell the listeners which one it is.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

Romans 14:1:

"Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations."

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

There are people in the church who argue with you about the Bible. I describe them as weak. You can keep them in the church if they don't understand or are feeble-minded, but if they continue arguing against the Scriptures, I teach that they have to be put out.

Now Revelation 11:1-2.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

"And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein."

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

I interpret the temple as the body of Christ. We are the body of Christ. The Bible tells us that believers are a sweet-smelling savor unto the Lord. If the Lord's Spirit truly lives in you, then you are a sweet-smelling savor to Him.

I interpret the Bible as the measuring rod. I teach that believers are to judge all things according to Scripture. I've read passages saying that we must judge, but continue reading.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

"But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not."

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

I interpret this to mean that we are not to measure those already outside the church in the same way, but we are to warn Christians inside the church about outsiders who, in my view, are saying things intended to destroy the church.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

"For it is given unto the Gentiles."

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

I teach that the church is to measure the temple by the Word of God, meaning that each person within it is measured, and anyone who is not of the Lord is to be put out.

I connect this with 1 Corinthians 5, beginning with verse 1. Go ahead.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

"It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles."

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

Many churches say that if somebody commits fornication within the church, the church is supposed simply to forgive that person. I disagree, especially in the situation described here. Continue.

Speaker 2 - Sharon / Reader and Contact Announcer

"That one should have his father's wife."

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

It says "his father's wife." I interpret that to mean the woman was not his mother but another wife of his father. Continue.

"And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

"For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

"In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

"To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh."

I say Paul judged, not by his personal opinion but by the Word of God. He measured the man's conduct and gave a judgment.

I interpret delivering the person to Satan as putting him outside the temple, or body of Christ. I connect this with the biblical image that a little leaven affects the whole lump. I compare tolerated evil with poison that can spread through an entire church.

I apply this teaching to people who, in my view, reject marital duties, bring false accusations, or encourage others to do the same. I argue that false allegations and disobedience can spread until the whole church is spiritually poisoned.

I teach that removal from fellowship is intended to help the person recognize the consequences of opposing God and experience what life is like outside Christian fellowship.

I also teach that married people have duties to one another and that defrauding a spouse can contribute to temptation. Continue reading.

"Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?"

Speaker 1 - Tony Alamo / Host and Preacher

A little poison and a little tolerated sin can, in my teaching, affect the whole church.

My time is up just as I'm getting into these Scriptures. We're going to place the Joseph Taliaferro statement in newspapers because, as I see it, we're fighting the world system and the Antichrist movement centered in Rome.

I referred again to the man from Venezuela and his criticism of world government and President Bush. I expressed hope that he might listen to my recordings, be saved, and then know what to do.

For those who don't know the Lord and have been turned against our church or led to believe it is a cult, I say that you can be saved right now and forgiven for every sin you've committed. I teach that the Lord will cast those sins into the sea of forgetfulness and never remember them again if you pray sincerely.

Say to God with all your heart:

"My Lord and my God, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God. I believe that He died on the cross and shed His precious blood for the forgiveness of all my filthy sins.

"I believe that God, by the Holy Spirit, raised Jesus from the dead. I believe He is sitting at the right hand of the power of God. He is the power of God. He is the strength of God. He is the truth and the power.

"All truth in heaven and earth and all power in heaven and on earth belong to the Lord."

Open your heart. He said that anyone who calls upon Him will be heard. He will answer you and show you great and mighty things you've never seen. That's salvation.

Say, "I know You've heard me. I know You've answered me. I know I'm saved. I thank You, Jesus, for saving my soul."

Raise your hands and praise Him.

Right now, we'd like you to hear a song I recorded some time ago. It's called "Onward, Christian Soldiers." Let's all get together - all of us together.

Speaker 4 - Prerecorded Musical / Promo Voice

[Music begins: "Onward, Christian Soldiers."]

National attention has been focused on banner headlines, with dissidents being kept and tortured, committed to mental institutions, and accused of brainwashing and mind control.

Arise, Christian America. The King is coming. Hold fast. The day of the Lord is here.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war.
