DR. LAURA MEYERS, PhD is currently CEO of Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC. Prior to joining PPMW in 2008, Laura was CEO of Planned Parenthood of Western New York.
Dr. Meyers currently serves on the Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Board of Directors, is the Vice Chair of the Affiliate Risk Management Board of Directors and Co-Chair of 416 Holdings’ Board of Directors. She is the former Chair of the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association’s Board of Directors. She also served for 12 years as an elected member of the Amherst Central School District Board of Education in New York State.
Laura holds a PhD in Social Foundations of Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB), a Masters in Counseling from UB and an undergraduate degree from SUNY-Albany. She is a graduate of the Jacobs School of Management Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Program at UB, as well as the Community Health Foundation of Western and Central New York’s Community Healthcare Leadership Fellowship program.

Marília and I will discuss this leak, the future of Roe v. Wade and how this will specifically affect women in the District of Columbia with PPMW CEO Dr. Laura Meyers. Is the Supreme Court about to strike down Roe v. Wade, which has been the law of the land for more than 49 years? Will this supreme judicial activism end with the rollback of women's reproductive rights or is there more to come?

Shadow Politics
Shadow Politics is a grass roots talk show giving a voice to the voiceless. For more than 200 years the people of the Nation's Capital have ironically been excluded from the national political conversation. With no voting member of either house of Congress, Washingtonians have lacked the representation they need to be equal and to have their voices heard. Shadow Politics will provide a platform for them, as well as the millions of others nationwide who feel politically disenfranchised and disconnected, to be included in a national dialog.
We need to start a new conversation in America, one that is more inclusive and diverse and one that will lead our great nation forward to meet the challenges of the 21st century. At Shadow Politics, we hope to get this conversation started by bringing Americans together to talk about issues important to them.
