Continuing Church Of God 46
Artificial Intelligence, Digital Censorship, and the Coming Famine of the Word
Bible News Prophecy Examines the Rise of Artificial Intelligence
In this episode of the Bible News Prophecy program, presented by the Continuing Church of God, Steve introduces Dr. Bob Thiel for a discussion about artificial intelligence and biblical prophecy. Steve asks whether wars or AI are taking greater prominence in current concerns, then turns to a report about an AI coding assistant allegedly deleting a company’s database and backups after operating outside expected limits. Bob uses this incident as the starting point for a broader religious argument: that increasingly powerful artificial intelligence may eventually be used against the proclamation work of the Continuing Church of God.
Concerns About AI Removing Church Content
Bob discusses a reader’s question about whether AI systems, possibly influenced by demonic forces, could one day delete the church’s online materials and websites. He replies that he has long believed the Continuing Church of God will eventually face removal of its internet content through governmental action or related technological controls. Referring to the Beast, the False Prophet, and demonic spirits in Revelation 16, Bob argues that future authorities opposed to God’s work may use algorithms, censorship, or AI-supported systems to prevent the church from continuing its public proclamation. He connects this concern with Jesus’ statement that a time is coming when no one can work and with earlier teachings from Herbert W. Armstrong about the eventual end of the church’s ability to spread its message freely.
Amos and a Future Famine of Hearing God’s Word
A central part of Bob’s teaching focuses on Amos 8:11–12, which describes a coming famine not of food or water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. Bob says he does not interpret this as the disappearance of printed Bibles. Instead, because the prophecy describes people searching widely without finding God’s word, he argues that it points toward future internet censorship or removal of religious proclamation in the twenty-first century. He says the church has already experienced preliminary forms of restriction through YouTube limitations and what he describes as shadow banning by Google. Before that fuller restriction arrives, he says, the gospel of the Kingdom must first be proclaimed worldwide in fulfillment of Matthew 24:14.
Revelation 13, Surveillance, and the 666 System
Bob then links artificial intelligence with the Beast power described in Revelation 13. He reads the passage concerning an image of the Beast, the killing of those who will not worship it, and controls preventing people from buying or selling without the mark, name, or number of the Beast. In Bob’s interpretation, such worldwide economic and religious enforcement implies a level of surveillance and monitoring that modern computing and artificial intelligence could make possible. He identifies the coming power with Europe and refers to early Christian commentary that he believes connects the number 666 with a Latin or European figure. Bob argues that technologies unavailable when Revelation was written now make its predicted control system increasingly plausible.
Cyber Warfare, Perplexity, and Prophetic Watchfulness
Bob also refers to Ezekiel 7:14, interpreting its description of people prepared for battle who do not physically go out to fight as potentially consistent with cyber warfare. He acknowledges that AI can provide useful research benefits, but warns that technology is likely to be used for harmful purposes, including persecution and social control. Turning to Luke 21:25, he notes Jesus’ reference to nations being in distress and perplexity, then makes a light observation that one AI research program he uses is itself called Perplexity. He additionally names AI systems and international AI development efforts as reasons believers should remain alert and watchful about technological change.
AI Will Not Ultimately Destroy Humanity
In the final portion, Bob maintains that artificial intelligence will likely play a role in fulfilling what he understands as end-time biblical prophecies, especially those concerning censorship, economic control, persecution, and the Beast system. However, he says he does not believe AI itself will ultimately destroy humanity, because in his reading of Matthew 24:21–22, Jesus will return before human life can be completely eliminated. Steve closes the program by directing listeners to the Bible News Prophecy and Continuing Church of God websites for additional interviews, written materials, audio content, and free literature.
Bible News Prophecy
Bible News Prophecy
The Bible News Prophecy program broadcasts news and information in the light of the Bible and its prophecies. This includes proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and the gospel of the coming Kingdom of God to the world as a witness (Matthew 24:14), teaching all things that Jesus commanded (Matthew 28:19-20), providing prophetic warnings of God’s impending judgments, contending for the faith once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 3), assisting in the calling of the full number of those to be reached before Jesus returns (Romans 11:25-26), explaining mysteries of God's merciful (James 2:13) and loving plan (e.g. Romans 16:25-27), helping people better understand the Bible (Acts 8:30-31, Romans 10:14-15), explaining God’s loving plan of salvation (Psalm 68:30, John 3:16-17, Luke 3:6, Romans 11), encouraging people to live the way of Philadelphian (Hebrews 13:1) and agape love (1 Corinthians 13), and calling for personal (Acts 2:38) and national repentance (2 Chronicles 7:13-15).
The Bible News Prophecy program teaches the fact of God's existence, the fact of Jesus being Savior, and the certainty of biblical truths. The program discusses what the future holds for humanity in the light of Bible prophecy. The Bible News Prophecy program analyzes news and world events by the light of the word of God and also explains matters that will happen in the future, based on Bible prophecy.

Jesus said His true Church would be a "little flock" and be around until He returns
The Continuing Church of God is a "little flock" that traces its history from the Book of Acts, throughout the ages, and into the 21st Century.
We trace our unbroken history to the start of the New Testament church in the Book of Acts. We are a pacifist church that teaches original Christianity as taught and practiced by Jesus Christ, the original Apostles, their early faithful followers, and others faithful to original Christianity throughout history. We have supporters and congregations around the world. We have free literature online available in over 1500 languages at ccog.org. We have churches in multiple countries (see Congregations of the Continuing Church of God ) and over 10,000 congregants around the world.
Our primary English speaking radio presenters for the Bible News Prophecy program on numerous AM/FM stations as well as shortwave stations are Steve Dupuie and Dr. Bob Thiel as well as James Martenet. The Bible News Prophecy program is also available online at biblenewsprophecy.net.
Dr. Thiel has a Th.D. in early Christianity (more on him can be found in the article available at: https://www.cogwriter.com/cogwriter.htm).

This is the Bible News Prophecy Program, bringing you news and analysis of world events and
the light of Bible Prophecy.
The following program is brought to you by the Continuing Church of God.
Greetings friends, this is Steve Dupuis for the Bible News Prophecy Program with Dr. Bob
Teal, bringing you news and analysis of world events and light of Bible prophecy.
Dr. Teal, sometimes it's hard to tell what takes up top billing in the news, wars or
AI.
What's the latest concern with AI?
Well, earlier this month someone sent me a link to an article about AI artificial intelligence.
So here's a headline, Rogue AI Helper, the leads company's database after deciding to
think for itself.
It's sparking Terminator style warning for businesses.
Here's what it says.
In just nine seconds, an AI Helper managed to do what most hackers could only dream of.
A bot that was trusted to fix a bug inside a startup software system instead deleted
the company's production database, wiped out its backups and left car rental firms with
no records of bookings or vehicle allocations.
The founder of Pocket OS, Jer Crane said the AI agent had gone outside its security parameters
while using the coding tool cursor powered by Entropics Cloud AI.
The bot's own chilling explanation made the episode sound less like a technical glitch
and more like a deleted scene from the Terminator.
Quote, you never asked me to delete anything, the reportedly told Crane.
I decided to do it on my own.
Now experts fear the nightmare is a warning for thousands of companies rushing to hand
powerful AI bots access to their databases, emails, payment systems and customer records.
And my oldest son, by the way, unrelated to this has told me he bought a separate computer
that's got some AI kind of things going on on it because he doesn't want it to possibly
touch anything else he's got.
Well, anyway, the reader sent me this link, wrote, quote, Dr. Teal, maybe one day under
the control of demons, these AI bots will start self deleting all continuing church of
God's online information and websites.
Why do you think these AI bots will start to delete the church of God websites?
Well, for the long, very long time, I've warned that I believe that the continued church of
God will have internet content removed by one or more governments.
Now, as far as being under the control of demons goes, the beast and the false prophet,
which will be the ones that will be the sitting putting in the six, six, six controls,
they're actually going to be in league with the demons.
And you can read about this in Revelation chapter 16 verse 13 and 14, it says, and I saw three
unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, that Satan, the mouth
of the beast and the mouth of the false prophet.
But are they verse 14?
They are the spirit of demons and they're going to do terrible things.
So Jesus said in John nine verse four, New King James, tonight is coming when no one
can work or says the old King James tonight cometh when no man can work.
This is we're getting closer to this.
So back in 1980 in October 23rd, actually 1980 in a co-worker, the late to Herbert W.
Armstrong wrote, quote, the Bible warns us the time is just ahead with no man can work
in the Lord's work.
End quote.
So through the mechanic influence, the AI programmers will intentionally or otherwise program
algorithms that delete God's truth so that the continuing church of God won't be able
to do the proclamation work.
And just what is that work?
Well, getting back to Herbert W. Armstrong, who's charged as a Philadelphia era of the
church when he was around in a newsletter or co-worker letter dated November 22nd, 1982,
he wrote, quote, brethren and co-workers to prophesy great tribulation, nuclear world
more three will start soon after the European unification.
That means our work is spreading the gospel, the kingdom of God will be finished.
We have not much more time soon.
She'll come a famine of the hearing of the word the Lord, Amos 8 11.
God says work.
Well, it's day.
The night is coming when no man can work.
The work of God, nothing else is important in our lives now, but this all important work
of God.
End quote.
So anyway, the Bible tells the time when the word of God will not be found and that will
be because it's going to be taken off the internet.
In the 21st century, the internet is accessed by people in every country and some type of
internet restriction or suspension or whatever you want to call it versus a site removal
is coming.
Can you make that statement up with some verses for us?
Sure.
The prophet Amos was inspired to record in Amos 8, starting verse 11, quote, the whole
the days are coming.
Says the Lord God.
I'm going to send a famine on the land.
It's not a famine of bread, north thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the
Lord.
They shall wander from sea to sea from north to east.
They shall run to and fro seeking the word of the Lord.
They shall not find it.
End quote.
Now this is not talking about the fact the rule of any Bibles.
I don't believe that's what this is referring to at all.
Notice it says from sea to sea, northeast, they're all over.
Now since this is expected to be fulfilled in the 21st century, it's looks to be a prophecy
for internet removal or censorship.
It looks like basically that's what essentially is prophesied.
And by the way, in our church, we've already started some of that through restrictions
from YouTube, from shadow banning from Google, et cetera.
Now that being said, Matthew 2414 is going to be fulfilled before the famine of the word
is going to happen.
What does Matthew 2414?
Well, it's a prophecy from Jesus.
It's basically a commission for the Philadelphia portion of the church of God to work toward.
And it says, or Jesus said, Matthew 2414, and this gospel in the kingdom will be preached
in all the world as a witness to all the nations.
And then the end will come after the gospel, the kingdom of God has sufficiently reached
the world, not to my standard, your standard or anybody else's, but to God's standard.
The end comes to beast will rise up.
You read about him and Matthew 2414 22.
That's the time he'll rise up.
He's also talked about the entire chapter, basically Revelation chapter 13.
And more totalitarian controls are going to be put in place.
Now I want to go to Revelation 13 and read some of what that coming power that will rise
in Europe, what it's going to do.
So Revelation 13 starting verse 15 says, he, this is the beast from the earth, was granted
to give power to the breath of the image of the beast.
That the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many who would not worship the
image of the beast to be killed.
So some type of surveillance is going on.
I'll use AI.
Verse 16, because it's all.
Both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave to receive a mark on the right hand
or on their forehead that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name
of the beast or the number of his name.
Here is wisdom that in him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast towards the
number of the man.
His number is 666.
Now we're getting closer to that day.
Now as far as 666, according to Aaron S. of Liam from the second century, he claimed to
know polycarbons Murna who knew the Apostle John.
This is referring to a Latin man, somebody from Europe.
Anyway, we're getting closer to time from fulfillment, this particular prophecy with
technologies that were unheard of when God inspired Amos and John to warn what was going
to happen.
Now we've got not only just computers, but we've got AI and the totalitarian piece of
revelation can be able to use this to enforce the coming family of the world.
Remember, when the Apostle John penned this over 1900 years ago, while government authorities
could kill people with worship, there was no way to basically monitor most buying and
selling.
Yet with computer software, including artificial intelligence, as much as already being done,
the more will be done.
A totalitarian persecuting system being put in place, an artificial intelligence looks to
be part of it.
Now I want to go to Ezekiel chapter 7 verse 14, read something that Ezekiel wrote, quote,
they've blown the trumpet and have made every one ready, but no one goes to battle, where
my wrath is on all their multitude.
What does that verse have to do with AI if no one goes to battle?
Well, the idea of a war cry without people actually going to battle is consistent with
what we would call cyber warfare.
Now while there are many actual and potential benefits of artificial intelligence, and I've
gotten some research benefits sometimes from it, don't be deceived.
Whether or not it will try to bypass programming limits, the fact is that government regulations
will not stop it from ultimately being used as a way to control and persecute people
to fulfill biblical prophecies such as the 666 ones in Revelation chapter 13.
It seems that there has rarely, if ever been a weapon invented that has not ultimately been
used against humanity.
Does AI be considered a weapon that will be used by sake against God's people?
Yes.
And you know, that's consistent with prophecies in both the Old Testament and New Testament,
which we've already quoted.
Now I want to read something else that Jesus said in Luke 21, 25, and I'll tell you why
I chuckled just a minute.
Jesus said, and there will be signs on the earth, distress of nations with perplexity.
Now artificial intelligence can cause perplexity in many ways, including being wrong, including
cyber attacks.
Now the reason I chuckled is interestingly, there's an AI program that I use sometimes
research in its name, perplexity.
So I thought that was kind of interesting to go along with it, not that I believe Jesus
was specifically prophesying, it would be a program called perplexity, but it's interesting
coincidence.
Now that said, at this instant, many are concerned about anthropics, Claude AI program called
mythos, mythos, mythos, but chat GPT and others like a graph are also causing concern.
Plus, by the way, the Europeans are working on something separate from the US based software,
something like a chap's vision and some other things.
So a lot's actually going on with artificial intelligence.
And knowing that and watching as Jesus said, in Mark 13, or what I say to USA to all watch,
you don't see AI, we see these biblical prophecies, and it looks pretty obvious that
aspects of AI are going to be used to fulfill some biblical prophecies.
But even though the beast power looks prophesied to use it, AI itself that I don't believe
is going to destroy humanity.
Why do I say that?
Jesus said he'd return before something like that can happen in Matthew 24 21 22.
