Headlined Show, Lets Find Out December 23, 2018

There’s a special feeling in the air this time of year. It’s a feeling that reminds us of the bonds we share with family, sweet memories from days long past, and the spirit of giving back to our loved ones. It’s something I value more than anything during the holidays. This year I’d like to reach out and extend that feeling our listeners and especially to Doug and Don Newsom.

On November 9th 2018 a fire broke out in the area of Paradise, California and spread over the next few weeks all the way down to Malibu Beach – over 400 miles away from the Paradise area. BBS Radio and the homes of Doug and Don were lost forever. Everything was gone and I mean everything. As the twins and their family ran for their lives, the intense flames enveloped and burned, taking the entire town of Paradise as well as much of the surrounding area, with them. Devastating can hardly describe what those souls went through.

Though it is difficult to understand sometimes how God works and why such things have to be endured, it was another growing experience for many people involved. Magic began to weave its magic spell and the support and love of thousands of our listeners, hosts, and most of all the Twins began to flow. A “Go-Fund-Me” page was created to rebuild the station for BBS Radio to continue. Through determination, dedication and hard work, and loving donations, Doug and Don were able to rebuild the station within about 30 days – and we are back on the air tonight – for the first time since the event occurred. It’s time to have a party – and Frank St. James and I invite you to join us. Call in – tell us your Christmas magic – share – and ask your question about the coming year of 2019.

This is a testament to the overcoming of all that divides us. When presented stories about the challenges all of us face, BBS Radio speaks as a unified whole. We are all individual parts of creation with conscious thought, dedication, and will, yet we have come together in solidarity to offer you support in these very confusing times. Many are burdened by what has been happening in the world. It is most difficult because we here at BBS and you as our listeners know the value and importance of working together to maintain an optimal environment for all humans, and living creatures on Earth. So here we are, unified, bigger stronger, and better than before – to give you news, information and the keys to open your hearts and learn that a unified way for human life exists. As we come together we find that we all may have differences of opinion, but as we discuss diverse ideas a greater wisdom emerges through collective and respectful dialogue.

That’s why this holiday season “Let’s Find Out”, Frank St James, and I are wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and join in with BBS Radio to thank you for this special gift of appreciation that came from all of you – the BBS Radio listeners. We’re back!

~Thank you Elizabeth, to you and your listeners, for such tremendous support and overwhelming love. Elizabeth, you and your listeners have gone way above and beyond any call of duty. I am in awe! I dearly appreciate you all so much. May Christmas be beautiful for all of you, whom I am very grateful for, and may your New Years be filled with love and joy! I love you! ~Donald Newsom (President, BBS Network Inc., BBS Radio)

Dare To Dream Guest, DR BRADLEY NELSON March 07, 2018
Veteran holistic physician, Programmer, Author, Teacher of the Body Code System, Holistic Physician, elf healing Researcher, Author, Lecturer

My guest Dr. Bradley Nelson is a veteran holistic physician and one of the world’s foremost experts on natural methods of achieving wellness. He is the creator of The Emotion Code and The Body Code system, and the CEO of Discover Healing, a holistic education platform that provides training and certifies practitioners worldwide. His books "The Emotion Code" with step-by-step instructions for working with the body's energy healing power, and his second book is: “The Body Code: Unlocking Your Body's Ability to Heal Itself."  Have you ever thought about how much your emotions influence your health? Dr. Bradley and I will be talking about how emotions are the underlying cause of most illnesses. For more information and to get your free Emotion Code Starter Kit, visit EmotionCodeGift.com.

In The Emotion Code, renowned holistic physician and lecturer Dr. Bradley Nelson skillfully lays bare the inner workings of the subconscious mind. He reveals how emotionally-charged events from your past can still be haunting you in the form of “trapped emotions” emotional energies that literally inhabit your body.

Dr. Nelson explains clearly and concisely how trapped emotions can create pain, malfunction and eventual disease. In addition, trapped emotions can exert a dramatic effect on how you think, the choices that you make, and how successful you will be.

Perhaps the most important discovery that Dr. Nelson has made is that trapped emotional energies will often gather around the heart, creating a “Heart-Wall” that may block you from giving and receiving love freely.

The Emotion Code is a powerful and simple way to rid yourself of unseen baggage. Releasing trapped emotions often results in the sudden disappearance of physical problems, self-sabotage, and recurring relationship difficulties.

Filled with real-world examples from many years of clinical practice, The Emotion Code is a distinct and authoritative new work that is destined to become an instant classic on self-healing.

The Emotion Code has been created to give you new insight, to show you how trapped emotions can cause all kinds of problems, and give you the means to release them. You can take your life back, enjoy better health, and finally be free from the insidious and subtle forces that trapped emotions are exerting upon you.

Life Changes Show Guest, Dave Cipriani March 06, 2018
Guitarist, songwriter and composer based in Los Angeles who performs on classical, electric, and 20-string Indian slide guitar

DAVE CIPRIANI

Dave Cipriani is a highly accomplished guitarist, songwriter and composer based in Los Angeles who performs on classical, electric, and (20-string) Indian slide guitar.

He has self-produced 3 CD’s and has received awards from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Baltimore Office of Promotions and the Arts.  Dave’s diverse background include studies with jazz great Charlie Byrd, classical guitarist Christopher Parkening, sitar master Jai Kishor, and Indian Slide guitar pioneer Pandit Barun Kumar Pal, a senior disciple of Ravi Shankar.

Dave holds an MFA in North Indian Music at California Institute of the Arts, which included studies with Balkan/classical/flamenco guitarist Miroslav Tadic, Indian masters Ustad Aashish Khan and Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, and classical guitarist Stuart Fox.

Dave leads the world fusion band Mahadev, and performs at concert venues and yoga studios in the LA area.

On This Live Broadcast, Dave Cipriani was accompanied by Drummer Chris Payne.

Dave Cipriani’s Personal Statement:

I have been on a constant quest to connect with deep spiritual/music roots while still being in the modern world.  I try to find out what makes different aesthetic approaches speak within different musical and cultural systems and then combine them into something new that can still speak to each individual system with depth and authority, while remaining evocative for the musician and listener. On a practical level, this has meant independent study of african and folk music, and studying with masters of jazz, classical guitar, balkan and indian music often at very high levels.

Studying Indian classical has been pivotal to this, even as it has sharpened my relation with non-Indian music.  From just a musical point of view, it has broadened the way I hear music, making connections to different styles of music that have hidden roots and connections, opening up new ideas of melody and rhythm.  It has certainly also changed my ideas about how music is recorded and transmitted from one musician to another, and its relation to audiences, creativity and spirituality.  But more importantly, it has helped to me to learn to listen with my heart on a much deeper level, and made me more interested in music that does seek to speak, rather than obfuscate, the emotions that every human being experiences.

This desire also springs from my years of studying Buddhist meditation, and trying to understand how it relates to creativity.  In meditation we seek to be completely honest with ourselves about who we are, warts and all, and to stay present with that, non-aggressively, non-judgmentally, compassionately.  This reveals tenderness and brilliance that we all hold as our basic being.  This is what I am trying to speak to and reveal to myself and others in the music.

John Barbours World Guest, Norman Finkelstein March 05, 2018
Teacher of Political Theory, Author of "Knowing Too Much" and "What Gandhi Says"

Norman G. Finkelstein received his doctorate in 1988 from the Department of Politics at Princeton University.

For many years he taught political theory and the Israel-Palestine conflict. He currently writes and lectures. Finkelstein is the author of eight books that have been translated into 50 foreign editions.

ABOUT Knowing Too Much: Why the American Jewish Romance with Israel Is Coming to an End

Traditionally, American Jews have been broadly liberal in their political outlook; indeed African-Americans are the only ethnic group more likely to vote Democratic in US elections. Over the past half century, however, attitudes on one topic have stood in sharp contrast to this group's generally progressive stance: support for Israel.

Despite Israel's record of militarism, illegal settlements and human rights violations, American Jews have, stretching back to the 1960s, remained largely steadfast supporters of the Jewish "homeland." But, as Norman Finkelstein explains in an elegantly-argued and richly-textured new book, this is now beginning to change.

Reports by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and the United Nations, and books by commentators as prominent as President Jimmy Carter and as well-respected in the scholarly community as Stephen Walt, John Mearsheimer and Peter Beinart, have increasingly pinpointed the fundamental illiberalism of the Israeli state. In the light of these exposes, the support of America Jews for Israel has begun to fray. This erosion has been particularly marked among younger members of the community. A 2010 Brandeis University poll found that only about one quarter of Jews aged under 40 today feel "very much" connected to Israel.

In successive chapters that combine Finkelstein's customary meticulous research with polemical brio, Knowing Too Much sets the work of defenders of Israel such as Jeffrey Goldberg, Michael Oren, Dennis Ross and Benny Morris against the historical record, showing their claims to be increasingly tendentious. As growing numbers of American Jews come to see the speciousness of the arguments behind such apologias and recognize Israel's record as simply indefensible, Finkelstein points to the opening of new possibilities for political advancement in a region that for decades has been stuck fast in a gridlock of injustice and suffering.

Gaza: An Inquest into Its Martyrdom

By Norman Finkelstein

Gaza is among the most densely populated places in the world. Two-thirds of its inhabitants are refugees, and more than half the population is under eighteen years of age. Since Israel occupied Gaza in 1967, it has systematically de-developed the economy. After Hamas won democratic elections in 2006, Israel intensified its blockade of Gaza, and after Hamas consolidated its control of the territory in 2007, Israel tightened its illegal siege another notch. In the meantime, Israel has launched no less than eight military operations against Gaza—culminating in Operation Cast Lead in 2008–9 and Operation Protective Edge in 2014—that left behind over three million tons of rubble. Recent UN reports predict that Gaza will be unlivable by 2020.

Norman G. Finkelstein presents a meticulously researched and devastating inquest into Israel’s actions of the last decade. He argues that although Israel justified its blockade and violent assaults in the name of self-defense, in fact these actions were cynical exercises of brutal power against an essentially defenseless civilian population. Based on hundreds of human rights reports, the book scrutinizes multifarious violations of international law Israel committed both during its operations and in the course of its decade-long siege of Gaza. It is a monument to Gaza’s martyrs and a scorching accusation against their tormenters.
