It was only the other day when President Obama gave a speech on the current state of the union, so I thought I’d make a comment or two on the current state of democracy and as it turned out, it ended up becoming a whole entire show! How ‘bout that?
If you would listen to the show, you’d be in a better position to understand that democracy is delicate and requires advanced citizenship. If “individual will” doesn’t want to make it work, if it doesn’t want to preserve it, then expect socialism, through an excess of regulation, spending, and mounting bureaucracy, to choke it away. But most important, however: a nation cannot survive without the national embrace of God as the ultimate source for moral guidance. Democracy is inclusive, but it should never trade away the strength of our resolve that measures our character to be free and productive individuals, under God, as stated in our pledge: “… one nation, under God,” which lives indivisibly for the pursuit of our democratic fate. Listen to the show and stop making excuses.
Capturing the importance of the individual and how the past can put you in a position to make a difference in the present. History, as we have come to know it, is a collage of choices made, created, and driven by all of us. Our understanding of it only helps to measure how far and with what level of sophistication we can see the world and our individual place in it.
The individual, the everyday hero, who wakes up to work his day and returns home at the end of that work, is the focus of this show. People today live in an environment they seldom know because so little is known about history. Therefore, the variety of topics and history surrounding everyday people will be made current and relevant through insightful discussions.
